The anti-erosion potential of fluoride solutions associated with aminomethacrylate (AMC) was evaluated in the presence of acquired pellicle on enamel and dentin. It is concluded that AMC was able to increase the anti-erosion potential of fluoride solutions in the presence of acquired pellicle.

Abstract

A scoping review was undertaken to inform the development of a peer mentoring program in the nursing faculty of an official-language francophone minority post-secondary institution in Western Canada. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with mentorship coordinators in seven undergraduate nursing programs across Canada. The results of the semi-structured interviews were used to corroborate the information gathered during the scoping review.

Analysis of the scoping review showed that the mentoring programs were designed based on a perceived need expressed by faculty and students. All programs involved a multi-stage implementation and evaluation process. Many articles focused on the benefits of implementing mentoring …

Purification And Isolation Of Α-Chloro-Β-Lactone Precursor Molecules, Matthew Ellis

This research investigates the synthesis of α-chloro-β-lactone molecules, focusing on the production, isolation, and purification of two precursor compounds from chloroacetic acid and substituted benzaldehydes. While multiple methods were explored, including EDC, DIC, and DCC catalysis, DCC proved to be most effective in producing higher yields. However, challenges in purification arose due to the formation of byproducts, particularly with DCC, prompting further investigation for efficient extraction and purification techniques. DCC, however, shows a promising route for α-chloro-β-lactone synthesis, despite purification complexities.

This qualitative phenomenological study offered an in-depth exploration of the menopausal experiences of seven Urhobo women, ages 45–65 years old, representing diverse occupational backgrounds and communities from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, who shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of menopausal experiences. Grounded in the Meleis transitions theory, the research presented thematic insights from semi-structured interviews, capturing the participants’ physiological, emotional, cultural, and healthcare-related experiences. Low birthweight (LBW) affects around 30 million infants annually. Infants with LBW face a 20-fold risk of mortality compared to those weighing 2,500 grams or more at birth. In the United States, the prevalence of LBW is nearly double among Blacks compared to Whites. Despite 61 million U.S. adults with disabilities, including 35 million women, there remains a significant research gap concerning factors that contribute to LBW among Black mothers with a disability (BMWD). Background: Hypercytokinemia, the renin-angiotensin system, hypoxia, immune dysregulation, and vasculopathy with evidence of immune-related damage are implicated in brain morbidity in COVID-19 along with a wide variety of genomic and environmental influences. There is relatively little evidence of direct SARS-CoV-2 brain infection in COVID-19 patients. Methods: Brain histopathology of 36 consecutive autopsies of patients who were RT-PCR positive for SARS-CoV-2 was studied along with findings from contemporary and pre-pandemic historical control groups. Emerging spatially resolved transcriptomics technologies allow for the measurement of gene expression in situ at cellular resolution. We apply direct RNA hybridization-based in situ sequencing (dRNA HybISS, Cartana part of 10xGenomics) to compare male and female healthy mouse kidneys and the male kidney injury and repair timecourse. A pre-selected panel of 200 genes is used to identify cell state dynamics patterns during injury and repair. We develop a new computational pipeline, CellScopes, for the rapid analysis, multi-omic integration and visualization of spatially resolved transcriptomic datasets.
