Bacground/Aim: The MSKCC(Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center) nomogram was developed to predict survivorship in gastric cancer patients undergoing R0 resection. This study aimed to evaluate the predictive power of this nomogram in the Turkish patient population. Materials and Methods: Gastric cancer patients over 18 years of age who were admitted to our clinic between 2000 and 2019 and underwent primary curative surgery and R0 resection were included in the study. Background/aim: This study aims to investigate the association between rs2267437, rs5751129 and rs132770 polymorphisms of the XRCC6 gene, which plays a role in repairing DNA double strand breaks, and the risk of Papillary Thyroid Cancer (PTC).Methods: The study included 150 patients who had been diagnosed with PTC and 204 healthy control subjects. Genotyping of SNPs was performed by Polymerase Chain Reaction - Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism method (PCR - RFLP).Results: In rs2267437 polymorphism, individuals with GG genotype had lower risk of PTC than wild-type CC genotype (p=0.037, 95% CI=0.19-0.96, OR=0.67). Background/aim: Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder that affects many organs, including the kidneys. This single-center retrospective study investigated the clinical, pathological, and laboratory findings of patients with kidney sarcoidosis who were treated with immunosuppressives.Materials and Methods: Twenty-three patients with biopsy-confirmed kidney sarcoidosis were included. Demographics, clinical, pathological, and laboratory findings, in addition to treatments, and outcomes of twenty patients with at least one month of follow-up were evaluated.Results: Median age at the time of biopsy was 47 years(60.9 % female). Background/Aim:Circadian rhythm proteins (CRP) play critical roles in both physiological and pathophysiological conditions, including neurodegenerative disorders. As member of CRP, the nuclear receptors REV-ERBα/β regulates circadian rhythm particularly by inhibiting Bmal1 protein and involved in the neuroinflammation- and cell death processes. This study aims to determine the possible embryotoxic effects of propofol on the cerebellum and spinal cord using fertile chicken eggs. Materials and methods: A total of 430 fertile eggs were divided into 5 groups: control, saline, 2.5 mg.kg–1, 12.5 mg.kg–1, and 37.5 mg.kg–1 propofol. Injections were made immediately before incubation via the air chamber. On the 15th, 18th, and 21st day of incubation, 6 embryos from each group were evaluated. To investigate the roles of vascular endothelial growth inhibitor (VEGI) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in the treatment of refractory interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO).Materials and methods: A total of 38 patients were included. They were assessed before and 6 months after HBO treatment. We aimed to search the relationship between the preoperative PVI (pleth variability index) and intraoperative respiratory parameters to reveal whether PVI can be used as a prediction tool in bariatric surgery.Materials and methods: Forty patients undergoing bariatric surgery were included. Noninvasive pleth variability index measured via finger probe before induction of general anesthesia. Following intubation each patient was ventilated in controlled mode.
