According to AHA and NIH, CVD includes stroke, congenital heart disease, rhythm disorders, subclinical atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, heart failure, valvular disease, venous disease, and peripheral artery disease. Between 2017 and 2020, 127.9 million US adults (48.6%) had some form of CVD.

Running is one of the most popular sports and forms of exercise worldwide. Stress fractures are a common and potentially season-ending injury among competitive distance runners, with recurrence rates as high as 22%. Biomechanical factors, including running cadence, have been implicated in injury risk, but their precise role remains an area of active investigation. This literature review examines the relationship between cadence and stress fractures, drawing data from both observational and experimental studies. Observational studies suggest that low cadence and rearfoot striking are associated with increased risk of bone stress injuries. Ogilvie Syndrome is an acute colonic pseudo-obstruction described as a paralysis of the colon with no real mechanical obstruction. This condition is oftentimes a benign post-surgical complication but can progress in severity if not treated appropriately. This case report presents a unique clinical case in which an adult female patient developed a severe case of Ogilvie syndrome postoperatively requiring surgical intervention.

This capstone project examines the collaborative relationship between occupational therapists (OTs) and behavior analysts (BAs) at an Autism and Child Development Center. Through a mixed-methods approach, pre- and post-surveys assessed changes in perceptions of collaboration, communication, and role clarity among OTs, BAs, and registered behavior technicians (RBTs). The project included lunch-and-learn presentations designed to promote interdisciplinary understanding and teamwork. Guided by the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), Occupational Adaptation (OA), and Self-Determination Theory (SDT), intervention sessions contained six one-on-one sessions focused on identity reformation, building adaptive responses, and restructuring a meaningful routine. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent, reactive oxygen species (ROS)-driven form of regulated cell death in which the cell membrane is degraded by lipid peroxidation. It is regulated by multiple enzymes, such as glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), which prevents membrane degradation by reducing lipid peroxides and protecting cells from oxidative damage. When inhibitors like RSL3 target GPX4, lipid peroxides build up, and toxic ROS compromises membrane integrity. Traditional anticancer treatments, such as most chemotherapies, aim to eliminate tumor cells by damaging DNA and triggering apoptosis. Substance use disorders (SUDs) pose a significant public health concern. Preliminary research suggests benefits of physical activity (PA) for individuals receiving SUD treatment. However, current PA interventions have limitations, particularly regarding PA maintenance, due to motivational issues among people with SUDs. This study aims to describe the risk factors and trends in birth prevalence of septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) and gastroschisis between 1980 and 2023. This descriptive, population-based study of SOD and gastroschisis used Western Australian Register of Developmental Anomalies data from 1980 to 2023. Birth prevalence was calculated using Midwives Notification System data for all births after 20 weeks gestation. Relative risk (RR) for SOD and gastroschisis showed risk by maternal age. SOD and gastroschisis occurred in 99 and 391 cases respectively (no dual diagnoses), with a birth prevalence of 1.41 and 3.71 per 10,000 respectively (from 2010 to 2019), and …

Background: Under-five mortality (U5M) is a critical public health challenge in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LLMICs), where over 90% of global deaths occur. Despite progress, the changing contributions of risk factors to U5M in LLMICs remain unexplored.

Mrthods: We analysed Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) data from 24 LLMICs across two periods: 1997-2005 and 2016-2022. We included 139,890 live births in 1997-2005 and 319,034 in 2016-2022. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of relative age on gross motor coordination (GMC) development, taking into account biological maturity and sex. Methods: 729 participants aged 10 to 16 years completed three GMC tests newly designed to minimize the potentially confounding effects of physical fitness. The tests included a Hand-Foot coordination test, Dribbling-Targeting test (DT test), and a T balance and agility test (T test).
