Alterations in drug transporters in acute liver failure and chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, have been reviewed before. However, there is a lack of comprehensive reviews on how liver surgery, including transplantation and partial hepatectomy, affects drug transporters. Because ischemia–reperfusion (IR) injury is a hallmark of liver transplantation and most other surgical procedures of the liver, this review focuses on the effects of IR injury, in addition to liver resection, on the expression and function of transporters in the liver and remote organs. Problem: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) are a leading cause of occupational injury and discomfort in industrial workplaces. Although an ergonomic program existed at the project site, a formalized process to detect postural misalignments early had not been established. Relying on employee self-reporting, delayed intervention, and limited opportunities to prevent injuries before they progress.

Aim of the Project: A proactive posture screening program using PostureScreen® was implemented to identify postural deviations that could contribute to WRMSDs. Emphasis was placed on supporting employees through early awareness of posture-related issues and evaluation of alignment improvements following individualized intervention.

Objective: Will a central line and peripherally inserted central line reeducation program increase the nurses’ knowledge pertaining to dressing changes, cap changes, and chlorohexidine baths? Method: 26 nurses on an observation unit were sent a power point presentation. Of the 26 nurses that received the power point 18 nurses participated. The power point presentation had a pretest and posttest embedded into it. Both the pretest and posttest consist3ed of the same 10 questions. Introduction: Retrotransposons (REs) constitute nearly half of the genome and include long terminal repeat (LTR) elements, Long INterspersed Elements (LINE), and Short INterspersed Elements (SINE). REs are typically silenced in somatic tissues via DNA methylation but can be reactivated through DNA hypomethylation, potentially impacting gene regulation. Here, we investigate genome-scale profiles of RE methylation in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and associations with survival among Black women.

BACKGROUND: Osimertinib, a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is an effective therapy for epidermal growth factor receptor-mutated non-small cell lung cancer, but it has been associated with a higher incidence of cardiotoxicity.

CASE SUMMARY: A 91-year-old woman on osimertinib 80 mg daily presented with acute dyspnea and was found to have a newly reduced left ventricular ejection fraction of 30%. Coronary angiography excluded obstructive coronary disease. Osimertinib was discontinued, and guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) was initiated, resulting in left ventricular ejection fraction recovery to 60%. Background: Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis (CTX) is a rare, inherited metabolic disease caused by pathogenic variants in CYP27A1. The clinical presentation of this progressive disease includes cognitive deficits, ataxia, peripheral neuropathy, and pyramidal signs, as well as bilateral cataracts and tendon xanthomas. In some cases, CTX also includes parkinsonism. The goals of this study are to develop a data source that provides improved characterization and awareness of parkinsonism in CTX.

Background: Despite numerous studies on medulloblastoma (MB) cell heterogeneity, the spatial characteristics of cellular states remain unclear.

Methods: We analyze single-nucleus and spatial transcriptomes and chromatin accessibility from human MB spanning four subgroups, to identify malignant cell populations and describe the spatial evolutionary trajectories. The spatial copy number variations (CNVs) patterns and niches were analyzed to investigate the cellular interactions.

Results: Three main malignant cell populations were identified, including progenitor-like, cycling, and differentiated populations. Gene signatures of cell populations strongly correlate to clinical outcomes. Multimodal analgesia is widely encouraged for major survival surgery. This facilitates lower doses of individual drugs, thereby reducing side effects. Extended-release analgesics offer sustained analgesia coverage, prevent drug dosing nadirs, and reduce stress. Studies evaluating multimodal and extended-release analgesia combinations for major survival surgery in mice are limited. We compared the analgesic effect of bupivacaine and extended-release buprenorphine (Bupi-ER) to bupivacaine and buprenorphine HCl (Bupi-HCl). This study used a cascading coaching model to train bilingual speech-language pathology graduate students and Spanish-speaking caregivers to implement naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention (NDBI) strategies with autistic preschoolers. Two triads, each including a student clinician, minimally vocal child with autism, and caregiver, participated. A monolingual instructor coached student clinicians in culturally adapted NDBI techniques, who then coached caregivers in Spanish. A mixed methods approach evaluated outcomes through single-case experimental design and qualitative interviews. We identified several Graspetide Biosynthetic Gene Clusters containing common double glycine cleavage motifs and attempted characterization of the mature Graspetides. The marginalization of intersecting racial, gender, and rural identities compounds the structural vulnerabilities (e.g., discrimination, stigma, health disparities) experienced by Black women in South Carolina’s rural areas. Discriminatory experiences can deteriorate mental health; however, resilience can potentially reduce the ill effects of discrimination by decreasing associated psychological distress. This study examines the mediating role of resilience in the association between discrimination and psychological distress among rural, Black women in South Carolina in the post-pandemic era.

Transcription factors such as Tbx5, Gata4, Mef2c and Pitx2 are required during cardiac development, and in adult cardiac homeostasis. We demonstrate that the gene dosage and modulation of these factors are mediated in vivo by the miR-200 family. Inhibition of a single miR-200 family member within the cluster results in defects of the left ventricle and cardiomyocyte maturation during development. Inhibition of the entire miR-200 family results in a ventricular septal defect and embryonic lethality by embryonic day (E)16.5. This quality improvement project focused on increasing the use of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) in primary care for patients with type 2 diabetes. Its goal was to enhance providers' ability to prescribe and manage CGMs effectively. A review of existing literature and a provider survey identified key barriers, such as limited time and insufficient provider education on CGMs. The survey emphasized educational needs related to initiating and prescribing CGMs. Educational materials, including a PowerPoint presentation on prescribing, monitoring, and management, were developed and shared with clinic staff. Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) is a commonly used treatment modality for cancer with a growing list of oncologic indications. Ototoxicity is a potential immune-related adverse event of ICB treatment, but the risk of hearing loss after ICB remains unknown. This retrospective chart review sought to identify individuals who received ICB and had available audiometric data before and after treatment in order to identify clinically meaningful changes in hearing. BACKGROUND: Hyams grading is considered prognostic in olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), but grading criteria are subjective and predate modern classification and surgical approach. We evaluate the application of granular grading criteria to an endoscopic surgery predominant cohort with extended follow-up.

METHODS: 78 ONB patients were identified (1994-2019) with original diagnoses dating to 1979. Original Hyams grade, Modified Hyams grade incorporating more detailed criteria and other histologic features (i.e. divergent differentiation, clear cell/oncocytic change, and spindling) were assessed if feasible, evaluated for distribution by grade and correlated with outcomes.

During the COVID pandemic, schools were widely believed to be a venue that facilitated disease transmission. While some worried Black and Hispanic students would disproportionately face greater risk of COVID exposure at school (school COVID risk) – given well-documented racially disparate school environments and resources – little empirical evidence exists documenting or refuting potential disparities in school COVID risk. Leguminosae, also known as Fabaceae, is the third largest plant family after Orchidaceae and Asteraceae. This review aimed to explore the potential of several legume species indigenous to Indonesia, from the Leguminosae family, as sources of food and medicine. The data used for the analysis were collected from various online databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The results showed that there were 13 species of Leguminosae family plants found easily in Indonesia including Cajanus cajan, Canavalia ensiformis, Mucuna pruriens, Arachis hypogaea, Vigna subterranea, Glycine max, Phaseolus vulgaris, Phaseolus lunatus, Vigna radiata, Vigna unguiculata subsp. unguiculata, Vigna angularis, Vigna …
