Background

People living with HIV (PLWH) face a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), with significant sex differences in outcomes. However, it is unclear whether these differences are driven by distinct risk factor profiles or by a differential impact of shared risk factors. This study aimed to identify factors associated with CVD among PLWH and to specifically assess for effect modification by sex using a large, diverse nationwide database.

Infertility often leads to stress, anxiety, and depression, significantly affecting the quality of life of affected couples. This study explored the sociodemographic and psychological factors influencing the quality of life among infertile couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment in Malaysia, using a cross-sectional design. A total of 126 infertile couples were purposively sampled from three public hospitals offering IVF treatment. The Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) measured psychological distress levels, while the Fertility Quality of Life (Ferti-QoL) scale assessed fertility-related quality of life. In response to recent policy shifts allowing the establishment of new nursing programs in the Philippines, this study assesses the perceived readiness of Sorsogon, a geographically underserved province, to implement a bachelor of science in nursing program. Background: Altered expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) is implicated in lung carcinogenesis, but little research has investigated the association of miRNA alterations with lung cancer stage or smoking status. To identify such alterations in lung adenocarcinoma, we conducted miRNA profiling.

Methods: Lung adenocarcinoma specimens and paired nonneoplastic lung tissues from 58 patients who had received no preoperative therapy and underwent tumor resection from 1991 to 2006 were collected from tumor tissue banks. BACKGROUND: Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions, preventing millions of deaths globally. However, vaccine hesitancy persists, not only among the public, but also among healthcare professionals (HCPs), who serve as key sources of vaccine information. This study assesses HCPs' vaccination attitudes and estimates the prevalence and determinants of vaccine hesitancy in the UAE.

DESIGN AND METHODS: This cross-sectional, descriptive study surveyed HCPs across the UAE from March to October 2024 using a 57-item questionnaire adapted from previous literature. Univariate, bivariate (chi-squared test), and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses were conducted.

The review was performed based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist.

Patients with severe MAC were excluded from major previous randomized controlled trials evaluating mitral therapies. Medication reconciliation represents a critical safety process in psychiatric healthcare, where medication discrepancies affect up to 67% of hospitalized patients, with 30-40% potentially causing significant harm. This quality improvement project implemented a standardized medication reconciliation training program at a Texas mental health facility to address knowledge and confidence gaps among clinical staff. Using Kotter's 8-Step Change Model and the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice, this quasi-experimental pre-post intervention study delivered three 30-minute interactive sessions to 12 multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic disorder in which the interventricular septum is typically more severely hypertrophied compared to other segments of the myocardium. We report a 18-year-old woman who presented in 2024 to a tertiary cardiac care centre in Muscat, Oman, with a history of anterolateral accessory pathway ablation who developed burning chest pain after stress. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed generalised left ventricular hypertrophy with maximal thickness in the infero-lateral wall with mid-cavity obstruction. Endochondral ossification is a highly coordinated process involving distinct progenitor cell populations within the mesenchymal condensation and subsequent cartilage anlage and perichondrium, all of which drive skeletal formation. Cell-type specific lineage tracing conducted to understand fetal bone development has revealed various fates of early skeletal cells. However, the underlying continuous and precise cellular dynamics of fetal skeletal cells, particularly along the dorsoventral axis, remain unclear. In this pilot exploratory study, we investigated and compared the gut microbiome in patients with Stevens–Johnson syndrome (SJS), patients with Sjögren’s disease (SjD), and healthy controls, using next-generation sequencing (NGS), and assessed correlations with dry eye parameters. Background: Quantitatively tracking subcellular protein puncta over time is critical for understanding protein functions and related cellular processes, as many proteins assemble into discrete protein puncta when performing functions. Monitoring these protein puncta over an extended period enables the quantitation of their dynamic behaviors, such as repositioning, remodeling, and inter-object interactions such as fusion and split. These characteristics are essential for deciphering the underlying regulatory mechanisms of protein function. Genetic variants influencing gene expression have been extensively studied at the transcriptional level. How these variants affect downstream processes remains unclear. We quantitated ribosome occupancy in prefrontal cortex samples from the BrainGVEX cohort and integrated these data with transcriptomic and proteomic profiles from the same individuals. Through cis-QTL mapping, we identified genetic variants associated with transcript level (eQTLs), ribosome occupancy (rQTLs), and protein level (pQTLs). Notably, only 34% of eQTLs have their effects propagated to the protein levels, suggesting widespread post-transcriptional attenuation. This study examined the risk of Salmonella spp. exposure among chicken farm workers by evaluating occupational health management practices. The probability of exposure was determined by assessing the number of contamination points. Sampling for Salmonella spp. contamination was conducted at 7 and 45 days of chicken batches across five areas, alongside evaluation of worker behaviors to assess exposure risk. Three of the 12 large closed-system farms, each housing >10,000 chickens, were selected. Results indicated that boots were the most contaminated items. The automotive industry is a significant source of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, particularly from solvent-based painting processes. This study evaluated VOC characteristics and distribution to assess associated health risks for workers and communities at varying distances from automotive painting facilities in Thailand, focusing on stacks and wastewater treatment plants that handle solvent-containing wastewater. The findings revealed aromatic compounds were predominant (66% of the total emissions), followed by oxygenated VOCs (26%). Genetic variants influencing gene expression have been extensively studied at the transcriptional level. How these variants affect downstream processes remains unclear. We quantitated ribosome occupancy in prefrontal cortex samples from the BrainGVEX cohort and integrated these data with transcriptomic and proteomic profiles from the same individuals. Through cis-QTL mapping, we identified genetic variants associated with transcript level (eQTLs), ribosome occupancy (rQTLs), and protein level (pQTLs). Notably, only 34% of eQTLs have their effects propagated to the protein levels, suggesting widespread post-transcriptional attenuation.
