Rare Presentation Of Typhoid Fever In An Immunocompetent Patient, Kumar Priyanka, Rajnish Kumar

Typhoid fever, caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, is the most common cause of enteric fever, and presents classically with fever and other gastrointestinal symptoms. We report an interesting case of a 27-year-old Indian man who lives in a semiurban area of Haryana (northern India) and presented with a 3-day-long history of intermittent fever, chills, and rigor. He was misdiagnosed previously as having mumps fever in view of the clinical presentation, but later, with proper workup, it was found to be an atypical presentation of typhoid fever. He responded well to intravenous antibiotics and recovered completely from typhoid infection.

From a contemporary perspective, many of the colourful characters in the Hebrew Bible may have experienced various levels of trauma which affected their thoughts, feelings and behaviours as recorded in the text. As part of a scholarly tradition of applying modern diagnostic terminology to historical personalities, this study connects various Biblical stories to an implicit theme of trauma that runs through much of the larger Jewish narrative. Introduction: Surgical outcomes for simple ventricular septal defects (VSD) have been excellent in the past three decades. For this project, the timing of resolution of left-sided dilation and mitral regurgitation (MR) following VSD repair was assessed.

Methods: Echocardiographic data surrounding surgery of 42 consecutive children who underwent surgical patch repair of a VSD were reviewed. The echocardiograms were reviewed up to a mean of 12 months post-operatively (range 9 - 14 months). Quantitative data indexed to body surface area including left atrial (LA) volume, mitral valve annulus diameter, and left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDD) was analyzed.

The present guide provides a practical guide to conducting latent profile analysis (LPA) in the Mplus software system. This guide is intended for researchers familiar with some latent variable modeling but not LPA specifically. A general procedure for conducting LPA is provided in six steps: (a) data inspection, (b) iterative evaluation of models, (c) model fit and interpretability, (d) investigation of patterns of profiles in a retained model, (e) covariate analysis, and (f) presentation of results. A worked example is provided with syntax and results to exemplify the steps.
