Patient is a 56-year-old male with a past medical history of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, prior MVA with chest trauma, and coronary artery disease with 2 prior stents in the obtuse marginal and right coronary artery who was brought to the ED for severe chest pain. Patient was immediately taken to the cath lab for cardiac intervention. The Syndrome of Trephined (SoT), also known as, "sinking skin flap syndrome," is a rare neurological complication that can occur after craniectomy. It can manifest with various reversible neurological symptoms such as headaches, mood changes, cognitive impairment, and focal neurological signs. The underlying pathophysiology of SoT is not completely understood but is believed to result from changes in intracranial and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics due to the loss of the protective cranial enclosure following craniectomy. Despite its rarity, healthcare providers should consider SoT as a possible diagnosis in patients who develop neurological deficits after undergoing decompressive craniectomy, even if their symptoms …

Glucagon-like peptide receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) are FDA-approved medications for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and obesity, and are also beneficial in cardiovascular risk reduction. However, due to known GLP-1 RA adverse effects, notably delayed gastric emptying, the ASA has implemented GLP-1RA guidelines aiming to minimize potential complications related to GLP-1 RA use in patients undergoing procedures requiring general anesthesia. Introduction: Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SPONK) is a relatively uncommon disease consisting of a focal, subchondral lesion thought to be a subchondral insufficiency fracture that has progressed to collapse and may lead to end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee. There are several treatment options, including nonsurgical and surgical measures but almost 80% of cases end up requiring surgery, usually consisting of unicompartmental or total knee arthroplasty. However, despite these treatment options, there remains no good option for young patients who present with SPONK in large areas of their distal femur or disease in both medial and lateral condyles. OBJECTIVE: Anemia in pregnancy is a global health problem and complicates >40% of pregnancies. Anemia is associated with significant maternal and fetal complications including low birth weight, preterm delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, ICU admissions, need for blood transfusion, and maternal morbidity. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the CDC recommend screening for anemia at the first prenatal visit and again between 24 and 28 weeks gestation. Functional foods are food items that should be consumed as part of a regular diet in order to provide advantages beyond what are typically referred to as traditional nutritional benefits. Furthermore, in order to support the better function claim or the decreased illness risk claim, these positive outcomes must be scientifically proven. Foods with particular health benefits have been referred to as "superfoods" more recently. Superfoods are conceptually defined as foods with high biological value because of their high concentration of bioactive components and high concentration of nutrients, as well as their high bioavailability and bioactivity in the body.
