Characterizing The Relationship Between The Presence Of Depression Risk, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, And Benzodiazepine Use To Get High, Julia Kollitz

Aim: To determine if there is a relationship between depression risk, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and engaging in benzodiazepine misuse.

Methods: A secondary cross-sectional analysis was conducted on data from a sample of people who use drugs (n=743). Depression risk was assessed via the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression scale. Meeting DSM-IV criteria for PTSD was identified using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI). We used simple and multivariable logistic regression models to estimate the association between mental health factors of interest and benzodiazepine misuse, defined as self-reported benzodiazepine use “to get high” in the past six months.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus also known as MRSA is an infection of a staph bacteria. High school athletes are at risk of contracting MRSA through skin to skin contact and/or MRSA contaminated equipment. This case study uses the CDC's six-step framework for program evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the online training modules designed to increase the knowledge of staff and stakeholders about MRSA and infectious disease outbreaks. The findings from this evaluation will advise the potential change(s) implemented in training modules, ultimately to enhance competency for decision makers and prevent MRSA and infectious disease outbreak amongst high school athletic programs.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The incidence of human papillomavirus-driven oropharyngeal cancer (HPV-OPC) is surging in the United States, particularly in the southeast and Appalachia. The reason for this increase is unknown. We evaluated the prevalence of two markers of increased risk, HPV16 E6 antibodies and oral HPV infection, among men in Appalachian and non-Appalachian Kentucky.

Methods: This study was nested within an ongoing HPV-OPC screening study of healthy men aged 45+ residing in urban (non-Appalachian) and rural (Appalachian) Kentucky and included the first 1,581 participants with either HPV serologic and/or oral HPV testing. Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by the accumulation of malignant plasma cells preferentially in the bone marrow. Currently, emerging chemotherapy drugs with improved biosafety profiles, such as immunomodulatory agents and protease inhibitors, have been used in clinics to treat MM in both initial therapy or maintenance therapy post autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT). INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: The feasibility of combined tislelizumab with gemcitabine and cisplatin as a neoadjuvant regimen for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) remains to be investigated.

CASE PRESENTATION: The neoadjuvant treatment not only shrunk tumours significantly but also lowered their stages from T4bN1M0, T3N0M0, and T3bN0M0 to pT1, pT0 and pTis, respectively. The treatment suppressed tumour cell proliferation and promoted luminal-to-basal transition.

The impressive †Oncorhynchus rastrosus of the Pacific Northwest's Miocene and Pliocene eras was the largest salmonid ever to live. It sported a hypertrophied premaxilla with a pair of enlarged teeth which the original describers reconstructed as projecting ventrally into the mouth, leading them to assign the species to "Smilodonichthys," a genus now in synonymy. Through CT reconstruction of the holotype and newly collected specimens, we demonstrate that the famed teeth projected laterally like tusks, not ventrally like sabers or fangs. Background: Cancer cells are intimately intertwined with tumor microenvironment (TME), fostering a symbiotic relationship propelling cancer progression. However, the interaction between cancer cells and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in urothelial bladder cancer (UBC) remains poorly understood. Methods: UBC cell lines (5637, T24 and SW780), along with a monocytic cell line (U937) capable of differentiating into macrophage, were used in a co-culture system for cell proliferation and stemness by MTT, sphere formation assays. Using a classical Delphi design, the authors used an interdisciplinary panel of behavioral health experts in integrated behavioral health (IBH) to identify foundational skills and knowledge counselor educators need to teach clinical mental health counselors for IBH practice. Eighty-eight statements were identified. Implications are provided for counseling and other behavioral health educators.

OBJECTIVE: Although up to 20% of women experience postpartum depression and/or anxiety, current interventions are limited. Identifying the processes that impact outcomes can inform and enhance interventions. Our study aims to examine: (1) whether acceptance-based process variables (awareness, acceptance, cognitive defusion, psychological flexibility) were associated with postpartum outcomes; and (2) whether psychological flexibility mediated the relationship between treatment engagement and postpartum outcomes.

METHOD: Postpartum women (N = 266) were recruited online using snowball sampling via social media (i.e., Facebook). They completed a cross-sectional survey of validated and reliable quantitative measures assessing their well-being, emotional distress, and acceptance-based processes.

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อพัฒนาและทดสอบความเป็นไปได้ของนวัตกรรมผ้ารัดหน้าท้องเจลสมุนไพรประคบเย็นบรรเทาอาการปวดในผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้อง

รูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยและพัฒนานวัตกรรมต้นแบบ เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการวิจัยเรื่อง ผลของการใช้ผ้ารัดหน้าท้องเจลสมุนไพรประคบเย็นต่อความปวดของผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้อง

วิธีการดำเนินการวิจัย: กระบวนการพัฒนานวัตกรรมประกอบด้วย 3 ระยะ 1) ศึกษาสภาพปัญหาของผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดร่วมกับการทบทวนวรรณกรรม 2) ออกแบบและผลิตนวัตกรรมภายใต้ทฤษฎีควบคุมประตู และจากการทบทวนวรรณกรรม และ 3) นำไปทดสอบความเป็นไปได้กับผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัด นวัตกรรม ผ่านการประเมินความเหมาะสมของนวัตกรรมต้นแบบจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ 5 คน การทดลองใช้งานโดยคัดเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจงเป็นผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้อง จำนวน 5 ราย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาประกอบด้วย นวัตกรรมต้นแบบ แบบประเมินความพึงพอใจในการใช้งานนวัตกรรม และแบบประเมินความปวดวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วย ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน

ผลการศึกษา: พบว่านวัตกรรมผ้ารัดหน้าท้องเจลสมุนไพรประคบเย็น มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความสะดวกต่อการใช้งานเท่ากับ 4.6 (± 0.54) คะแนนเฉลี่ยการใช้ประโยชน์ได้จริงเท่ากับ 4.80 (±0.44) นวัตกรรมมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความปลอดภัยต่อการใช้งานเท่ากับ 5.00 (±0.00 ) คะแนนเฉลี่ยความพึงพอใจต่อการใช้นวัตกรรมเท่ากับ 4.80 (±0.44) และเปรียบเทียบคะแนนความปวดก่อนและหลังการใช้นวัตกรรม พบว่า สามารถลดอาการปวดได้ โดยคะแนนเฉลี่ยความปวดก่อนได้รับนวัตกรรมอยู่ที่ 8.2 คะแนน และหลังได้รับนวัตกรรมอยู่ที่ 5 คะแนน ซึ่งมีความเหมาะสมที่จะนำไปศึกษาต่อในกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีขนาดใหญ่ในผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้อง จึงมีความเหมาะสมนำไปศึกษาในระยะถัดไปกับจำนวนผู้ป่วยหลังผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้องที่มีขนาดใหญ่ขึ้น

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อพัฒนาและศึกษาผลของรูปแบบการดูแลภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อมในชุมชน โดยการมีส่วนร่วมของพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติ นักการแพทย์แผนไทย และหมอนวดแผนไทยชุมชน

รูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยและพัฒนา

วิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: เป็นการวิจัยแบบสำรวจสัดส่วนและความรุนแรงของโรคข้อเข่าเสื่อม กลุ่มตัวอย่างแบ่งเป็น 1) บุคคลที่มีอายุ 50 ปีขึ้นไป จำนวน 136 คน เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและความต้องการดูแล 2) พยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติ นักการแพทย์แผนไทย และหมอนวดแผนไทยชุมชน รวม 18 คน เพื่อพัฒนารูปแบบการดูแลฯ 3) บุคคลที่มีภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อม จำนวน 40 คน ถูกเลือกแบบเจาะจง เพื่อใช้ในการดำเนินและประเมินผลรูปแบบการดูแลภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อมในชุมชน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ 1) แบบประเมินคัดกรองภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อม 2) แบบประเมินระดับความรุนแรงข้อเข่าเสื่อม 3) แบบประเมินผลรูปแบบการดูแลภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อมในชุมชน มีค่าดัชนีความตรงตามเนื้อหาเท่ากับ 0.85, 0.87 และ 0.81 ตามลำดับ มีค่าความเที่ยงสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาคเท่ากับ 0.82, 0.84 และ 0.79 ตามลำดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา และทดสอบค่าเฉลี่ยโดยใช้สถิติทดสอบที

ผลการวิจัย: พฤติกรรมการจัดการตนเองของผู้ที่มีภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อมดีขึ้น อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ระดับความปวดและระดับความรุนแรงของภาวะข้อเข่าเสื่อมลดลง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers to treat. The primary cause for the drug resistance is the dense extracellular matrix (ECM) that surrounds the tumor and restricts blood supply. Gemcitabine (GEM) and paclitaxel (PTX) are drugs that are clinically used in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Patients with psychiatric disorders undergoing antipsychotic treatment are at an elevated risk for adverse cardiovascular events, including arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. While the precise mechanisms linking cardiovascular diseases and psychiatric conditions remain unclear, QTc prolongation is suspected to be a contributing factor. The human ether-à-go-go-related gene (hERG, or KCNH2), which affects potassium channels, is implicated in the cardiotoxicity of various medications, including antipsychotics. This gene plays a critical role in determining whether a drug will be approved for market use. Background: Epilepsy is a common, chronic, and disabling neurologic state. Medial temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the commonest, and best-defined, form of symptomatic localization-related epilepsy. Obesity-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress are thought to participate in the initiation and progression of epilepsy. Obesity is a potentially preventable predisposing factor for drug resistant epilepsy (DRE).

When language abilities in aphasia are assessed in clinical and research settings, the standard practice is to examine each language of a multilingual person separately. But many multilingual individuals, with and without aphasia, mix their languages regularly when they communicate with other speakers who share their languages. We applied a novel approach to scoring language production of a multilingual person with aphasia. Objective: To assess the effect of the addition of nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) and chlorhexidine (CHX) on the properties of an etch-and-rinse adhesive regarding the bond strength to caries-affected dentine (CAD) and the NACP remineralization efficacy.
