Depression and anxiety are leading causes of disability and are frequently underdiagnosed in outpatient psychiatric settings due to inconsistent screening and documentation practices. Evidence supports the use of standardized tools, such as the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), to improve early detection and clinical outcomes. This quality improvement (QI) project evaluated whether implementing standardized electronic health record (EHR) templates and provider education would improve documentation of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 screenings. BACKGROUND: The use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) has remarkably increased in the past few years as they have demonstrated significant reduction in A1c and major cardiovascular outcomes and have led to weight loss with low risk of hypoglycemia. GLP-1 RA use has raised concerns about potential associations with increased gastric retention and adverse outcomes in upper endoscopy procedures.

Telehealth increases access to allied healthcare in rural areas. People with Parkinson’s disease (PD) need improved access to health care, and from a patient-centered perspective, the coordination of their healthcare should be a priority. Four speech-language pathologists, two physical therapists, two pharmacists, and two study coordinators provided a coordinated allied healthcare intervention for people with PD in rural Wyoming and Nevada. Both the providers of the intervention, as well as the participants who received it, were interviewed about their experiences with the eight-week intervention and asked about aspects that were successful or unsuccessful. The clinical value of serial bone age (BA) determinations in children during growth is limited by the manual rater variability (precision 0.63 years). The objective of this work was to determine the precision of automated bone age and bone health index (BHI) measurements by BoneXpert and to establish the time interval at which the automated method can detect a significant treatment effect. The data were from a case-control trial (oxandrolone/placebo) following 90 boys with Klinefelter syndrome (KS) with five visits over 2 years, recording X-rays of both hands. BACKGROUND: Iron deficiency anemia in pregnancy is a significant health concern. Reticulocyte hemoglobin equivalent (Ret-He) and immature reticulocyte fraction (IRF) are emerging as early markers, yet their response to different iron therapies in pregnancy is underexplored.

The qualities of antibody (Ab) responses provided by B lymphocytes and their plasma cell (PC) descendants are crucial facets of responses to vaccines and microbes. Metabolic processes and products regulate aspects of B cell proliferation and differentiation into germinal center (GC) and PC states along with Ab diversification. However, there is little information about lymphoid-cell-intrinsic functions of enzymes that mediate ether lipid biosynthesis. BACKGROUND: Drug-related risks such as adverse health outcomes, overdose, and violent victimization vary across populations due to the marginalization of identities, structural inequities, and differing environments. Discrimination and criminalization exacerbate drug-related risks specifically for survivors of sexual exploitation who use drugs. This study aims to understand how survivors who are not currently utilizing intensive treatment services perceive their risk environment, including available resources, and identify possible mechanisms to address health equity. Emphasizing the role of harm reduction and the expertise of lived experience, this paper encourages innovative approaches to supporting survivors.

In previous studies we have shown that accumulation of the polymerogenic variant ATZ that causes α1-antitrypsin deficiency (ATD) activates NFκB DNA binding. Here we discovered that this response, which we are naming the polymerized protein response (PPR), is characterized by NFκB p50 homodimers, distinct from the p50/p65 heterodimers in the canonical NFκB inflammatory response and the unfolded protein response (UPR). The PPR is also activated by other disease associated variants that polymerize in the ER whereas disease-associated variants that do not form polymers activate p50/p65 heterodimers and UPR. Objective: To examine the associations of metabolic health and obesity phenotypes with liver fat accumulation and hepatic steatosis in adults. Methods: We analyzed 676 non-Hispanic white adults (18–95 years; 55.8% female) from the Fels Longitudinal Study using a cross-sectional design. Participants were classified into metabolically healthy normal weight (MHNW), metabolically healthy obesity (MHO), metabolically unhealthy normal weight (MUNW), and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO) phenotypes. Metabolically unhealthy status was defined as the presence of ≥1 metabolic dysfunction, consistent with prior epidemiological definitions; secondary analyses using ≥2 were also performed. Currently, there are 12 known species of Pediococcus, with P. Acidilactici and P. pentosaceus being the most well-known. P. pentosaceus is a Gram-positive, lactic acid bacterium, and is most often recognized for its wide usage as a probiotic and fermenter of wines and cheeses. It is also studied for its anti-inflammatory effects and antimicrobial properties against many common pathogens, such as Salmonella, Clostridium difficile, E.coli, etc.  However, the Pediococcus species can be an opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised patients, and its resistance to glycopeptides and tetracycline limits treatment options.

Navicular insults such as high-energy trauma, osteonecrosis, and Muller-Weiss syndrome may result in avascular necrosis or a critical sized bone defect, conditions that are highly difficult to manage given current treatment modalities. However, most MIS techniques rely on commercial instrumentation for osteotomy, reduction, and fixation. This retrospective study evaluates patients treated with a novel tri-planar distal metatarsal osteotomy performed without specialized MIS guides, using only standard surgical tools and a novel device.

Background: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the attitudes of nurses working in clinical settings toward conducting physical examinations.

Methods: The sample surveyed consisted of 364 nurses currently working at 14 branches of a private hospital with facilities in seven cities, who participated voluntarily. Data was collected online via a survey created through Google Forms, applying descriptive characteristics form and the Physical Examination Attitude and Practice Scale in Nursing. The data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test, Kruskal–Wallis test, Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis.
