Currently, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (Maine DHHS) and the Cutler Institute’s Substance Use Research and Evaluation Team (SURE) are working together through the SUPPORT for ME Cooperative Agreement to monitor and assess Maine’s behavioral health system. As a part of this Cooperative Agreement, Maine DHHS and the SURE team have identified withdrawal management (WM) as an area of interest and have determined that more information is needed to understand the landscape of WM in Maine, especially as it pertains to non-opioid substances. This qualitative data brief provides findings from the Vermont baseline needs assessment, conducted in collaboration with research staff at the University of Southern Maine's Catherine Cutler Institute, with the goal to identify current and future opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment needs and barriers in rural Vermont. This data brief aims to identify current and future addiction treatment needs and barriers in Vermont with direct input from practitioners, community partners, and people impacted personally by opioid use. Malaria has been a worldwide health problem for centuries causing between 1.5 to 2.7 million deaths annually, and mostly affecting children aged 5 and under and pregnant women in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) (Phillips, 2001). The discovery of malaria parasites by Laveran in 1880 as well as the finding of mosquitoes as vectors for avian malaria by Ross in 1897, made scientific studies about malaria possible. Between 1898 and 1900, the Italian scientists Grassi, Bignami, Bastianelli, Celli, Golgi and Marchiafava discovered human malaria (Cox, 2010). Background Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) outnumbers Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement (SAVR) for Aortic Stenosis in the US. Readmission rates and the healthcare burden of these procedures in Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) recipients are poorly studied.

Methods National Readmission Database (2016-2020) was used to identify SOT recipients (Renal, Heart, Kidney, Lung & Pancreas) undergoing TAVI or SAVR. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to remove confounding factors from outcomes. Descriptive and regression based analysis was performed.

Results Among 3,394 hospitalizations for Aortic Valve Replacement, 2,181 underwent TAVI & 1,213 underwent SAVR. SAVR was associated with higher median LOS (10 vs …

This paper discusses and examines the impact of a technology-integrated diabetes self-management program on HbA1c levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes, compared to traditional diabetic care and education methods. Utilizing a theoretical framework of Social Cognitive Theory, which would be applied to this project, the research would investigate whether integrating technological tools, such as mobile applications and online platforms, into diabetes self-management can provide better glycemic control. A randomized controlled trialis proposed that would involve 200 adult participants with Type 2 diabetes, divided into two groups: one receiving the technology-integrated program and the other following conventional care protocols. Problem Description: In 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) impacted the world, changing the landscape of the nursing profession. The pandemic changed societal norms to reduce transmission and death rates by instituting social distancing requirements, stay-at-home policies, and mask mandates. Hospitals enacted crisis standards of care, changed orientation and training practices, and restricted family visitation policies. In addition, nursing programs temporarily halted in-person clinical training experiences and transitioned to online learning. These were challenging times to enter the nursing profession. In that position, it drives people to pursue instant gratification with minimal effort or risk other values of greater importance. This is evident in America’s medical field, where the rapid results of ADHD medication are embraced at the expense of children’s health. ADHD stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, “one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood” (“What is ADHD?”, “Symptoms and Diagnosis of ADHD”). To provide actionable information about the safety and efficacy of new medications, clinical trials should be designed to test outcomes that patients find meaningful. This imperative is increasingly acknowledged by the scientific community and regulatory authorities and in recent years has been enshrined in regulatory guidance documents for industry; however, clinical trials often fail to adequately address patient priorities. Background: Certain procedures, particularly those used to treat symptoms of bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC), involve filling the bladder to or over its capacity for visualization and/or relief of symptoms. Rarely, if excessive pressure or volume is used, bladders may rupture causing significant harm to the patient. The purpose of this study was to identify baseline data for pressure and volume when hydrodistention is attempted in explanted cadaveric bladders, as well as determine bladder rupture pressure changes in the acute post-cystorrhaphy state. Individuals who are tattoo artists experience hazards in their workplace by sitting and using repetitive movements for extended periods of time in poor postures and positions. The improper use of ergonomics impacts their daily occupational performance, work productivity, well-being, and overall quality of life. The hazards in the workplace can reduce one’s motivation, dictate one’s habits, routines, roles, and ability to complete meaningful activities.
