Rashes are one of the most common chief complaints we see as emergency medicine physicians on a day-to-day basis. Most of them tend to be self-limited and require very little workup and can be discharged home; however, it is our job to try to identify rashes that may require isolation in order to prevent an outbreak in our communities. A 47 year old female presented in December for presurgical clearance due to fever, petechial rash on the thighs and trunk, and ecchymoses on the forearms, gluteal region, and toes; additional symptoms included arthralgia in bilateral lower limbs. We report a case of a 45-year-old female who presented with intentional Baclofen overdose. The patient was lethargic and then quickly unresponsive and hypotensive, intubated by EMS in the field. By the time the patient was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the patient was clinically brain dead. After several days of supportive care, patient slowly, and miraculously, regained full neurologic functioning and was admitted to the Psychiatric Unit.

We report a case of a 65-year-old female who presented with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with diverticulitis involving a Meckel‘s Diverticulum. The differential diagnosis of abdominal pain is vast, in this age group includes, but is not limited to appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, and small bowel obstruction. In the absence of complicated features, conservative management with oral antibiotics and close outpatient follow is advised. However, in the case of complicated diverticulitis and a rare manifestation such as a Meckel’s Diverticulum, careful management is indicated.

Refeeding syndrome is a condition which arises when a severely malnourished individual has been restarted with increased nutrition in a relatively short period of time. The refeeding process can lead to shifts in a number of fluids and electrolytes. The hallmark feature is hypophosphatemia. The true incidence of refeeding syndrome is unknown. The prognosis of sepsis caused by Clostridium perfringens is extremely poor, with a mortality rate of 70%-100%. Management includes antibiotic regimens specific to toxin production as well as source control via surgical or interventional mechanisms. We report a case of a 64-year-old male who presented with right upper quadrant (RUQ) abdominal pain and was diagnosed with Clostridium perfringens bacteremia with associated acalculous cholecystitis, hepatic abscess, and acute renal failure requiring hemodialysis. It is felt that early hemodialysis was an associated factor in the patient's survival.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries mandated the use of facial masks in public environments, especially in healthcare settings.[3] While this was beneficial in reducing the spread of the coronavirus disease, it created many challenges for the deaf/HoH community.[4] In particular, it limited effective communication between healthcare providers and deaf/HoH patients. It was found that masks limit word recognition for both deaf/HoH and non-deaf/HoH individuals. This study delves into the potential of cardiac fibrosis markers like galectin-3, NT-proBNP, and trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) to enhance diagnostic precision and patient outcomes in HFpEF. A systematic review of sixteen relevant studies revealed that these biomarkers offer promise for early detection and improved risk assessment. For instance, TMAO indicates systemic implications of HFpEF, while galectin-3 shows predictive value across heart failure types.
