Impacts associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI) induce a multitude of neurological morbidities mediated by a spread of biochemical dysfunction. Redox stress is a significant contributor to TBI pathophysiology and several redox stress markers have substantial evidence to support their role in diagnosing preclinical and clinical TBI. For this creative project, a literacy intervention board game entitled Hidden Word Treasure Hunt was designed for elementary students with dyslexia. Developmental Dyslexia is a neurodevelopmental learning disability which causes reading and writing difficulties. The goal of the intervention is to provide a fun and engaging way for students with dyslexia to practice skills like spelling, phonemic awareness, rhyming, and more. Background

Prescribing cascades occur when cholinesterase inhibitor (ChEI)-induced urinary incontinence is misinterpreted as a new condition, leading to overactive bladder (OAB) antimuscarinic initiation. We evaluated whether the ChEI-OAB antimuscarinic prescribing cascade was associated with delirium or falls compared with mirabegron in older adults living with dementia.

Methods

We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the Anlitiks All-Payor Claims database (2015–2020). Participants were adults aged ≥ 65 years with dementia newly prescribed a ChEI with no prior ChEI or OAB therapy (180 days). A 60-day window identified OAB treatment initiation after ChEI therapy. Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a tear in the coronary artery lining which decreases blood flow to the heart. SCAD is the leading cause of myocardial infarction in young to middle aged women, especially during and after pregnancy. While SCAD is often managed conservatively, patients are prone to complications like cardiomyopathy. This case underscores the importance of considering SCAD as a differential for postpartum women with chest pain. Clinical History A 47-year-old male with history of stage IV gastric cancer on nivolumab presented with blurry vision worse at close distances. Binocular horizontal diplopia was found on exam. Fundus exam demonstrated 4+ disc edema and hemorrhage bilaterally. Recent head MRI was negative for leptomeningeal enhancement. MR venogram and MRI orbits with contrast were ordered as well as lumbar puncture. The patient’s next dose of immunotherapy was held. Opening pressure was normal, and MRV showed no evidence of dural sinus thrombosis. MRI of the orbits was positive for perioptic neuritis bilaterally, and the patient was started on a steroid taper …

Purpose: Growth modulation is an established technique for limb deformity correction and is increasingly applied to spinal deformities. While distraction-based posterior and anterior compressive methods have been explored, spinal growth modulation through fixation across vertebral growth centers remains unstudied. We hypothesized that unilateral trans-endplate screws-spinal epiphysiodesis trajectory (SET) screws-could induce partial anterior growth arrest and promote scoliotic deformity in a porcine model.

Methods: Four male piglets (two experimental, two control) underwent unilateral posterior spinal instrumentation at four lower thoracic levels at eight weeks of age. Importance: Surveillance of postacute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) depends on diagnostic coding systems that capture fewer than one-half of affected individuals, rendering millions invisible to health systems and policymakers.

However, the lack of standardized UCV concepts and the local context factors hinder the interoperability of UCV analyses between organizations. Ocular melanoma is commonly treated using plaque brachytherapy; however, radiation-induced damage to healthy ocular tissues frequently results in partial or complete vision loss. This work investigates the development of an injectable, magnetically responsive silicone magnetic fluid designed to localize adjacent to the tumor and attenuate low-energy gamma radiation during treatment.

The material system consists of iron oxide nanoparticles surface-functionalized with a siloxane polymer, in which the nanoparticles provide magnetic responsiveness and radiation attenuation, while the polymer coating ensures colloidal stability, injectability, and biocompatibility. The second evaluates the extent to which compliance with international standards across countries can help to manage potential transmission of resistant bacterial from animals to humans through consumption of contaminated meat, dairy and aquaculture products. This scientific review examines common misconceptions surrounding late talking, bilingualism, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) by evaluating current evidence-based research. Three subtypes of these high-capacity, low-affinity transporters (OCT1, OCT2, and OCT3) are differently expressed in peripheral tissues such as the liver, kidneys, as well as the central nervous system.
