Purpose: Comorbidities and ototoxic medications increase risk of hearing loss (HL) in infants admitted to neonatal intensive care units (NICU; 6 per 1000 births) compared to well-babies (1.7 per 1000 births). For newborn hearing screening (NBHS), transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) testing is more efficient and less costly. Automated auditory brainstem response (aABR) testing yields higher sensitivity and specificity. This study will identify if aABR is cost-effective compared with TEOAE for NBHS in high-risk neonates.

Diagnostic overshadowing occurs when a patient with a pre-existing diagnosis presents with symptoms that are attributed to the diagnosis, but actually reflect a separate issue. This diagnostic overshadowing can lead to delays in diagnosis, as well as disparities in health care and outcomes. Despite a record number of clinical studies investigating various anti-myeloma treatments, the 5-year survival rate for multiple myeloma (MM) patients in the US is only 55%, and almost all patients relapse. Poor patient outcomes demonstrate that myeloma cells are "born to survive" which means they can adapt and evolve following treatment. Thus, new therapeutic approaches to combat survival mechanisms and target treatment resistance are required. Importantly, Mcl-1, anti-apoptotic protein, is required for the development of MM and treatment resistance. The most common cause of an iliopsoas abscess is infection with Staphylococcus aureus. Mycobacterium tuberculosis rarely causes psoas abscesses, with an incidence of about 10–30% of extrapulmonary tuberculosis and only 3% of tuberculosis in general. Lung nodules are frequently detected on low-dose computed tomography scans performed for lung cancer screening and incidentally detected on imaging performed for other reasons. There is wide variability in how lung nodules are managed by general practitioners and subspecialists, with high rates of guideline-discordant care. This may be due in part to the level of evidence underlying current practice guideline recommendations (primarily based on findings from uncontrolled studies of diagnostic accuracy). BACKGROUND: Pancreatic cancer is a serious, usually fatal disease and one of the most aggressive malignancies. Research into whether hormone replacement therapy (HRT) might protect against pancreatic cancer has yielded mixed results. This study aimed to investigate the potential association between HRT and the risk of pancreatic cancer in postmenopausal women.

METHODS: This population-based, retrospective study extracted data from the US National Inpatient Sample (NIS) 2008-2018. Hospitalized females aged ≥55 years were eligible for inclusion. To report long-term (5-year) safety, effectiveness, and radiographic outcomes after sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion (SIJF) with 3D-printed triangular titanium implants (TTI) and compare them with solid titanium plasma spray coated implants Summary of Background Data.
