El Paso Health Education and Awareness Team (EP-HEAT®) is a bilingual program focused on increasing health awareness and dispelling health-related misinformation in the U.S.-Mexico border region. EP-HEAT® consists of students, faculty, staff, and Promotoras. The primary objective of EP-HEAT® is to empower the community with healthcare resources in a culturally acceptable way. EP-HEAT® established the bilingual “In the Hot Seat with EP-HEAT®: Dispelling Myths in Healthcare” series commonly referred to as Myth Busters events. Quadriceps weakness after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is a well-known phenomenon, with more persistent quadriceps weakness observed after ACLR with a bone-patellar tendon-bone or quadriceps tendon autograft than with a hamstring tendon autograft. Longstanding quadriceps weakness after ACLR has been associated with suboptimal postoperative outcomes and the progression of radiographic knee osteoarthritis, making the recovery of quadriceps size and strength a key component of ACLR rehabilitation. Purpose

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of vibration on motor unit (MU) firing behavior and physical performance of antagonist muscles in healthy young adult males.

Methods

Fourteen males (age = 24.3 ± 3.6 years) were included in this study. There were two conditions, one in which participants received 80 Hz vibration in the distal tendon of the hamstring for 30 s and the control condition (no vibration). Immobility is a problem among mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit. Early mobility has been shown to benefit mechanically ventilated patient outcomes by minimizing hospital stays and costs, decreasing the risk of infection, and improving muscle strength to lead to a better quality of life. No inclusive checklists exist to evaluate patients progressing to varying levels of mobility based on specific criteria such as hemodynamics, neurological function, and disease acuity. Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of cadence modification on tibial acceleration (TA) in the interest of exploring potential methods to reduce the incidence of stress-related running injuries. II. Methods Eleven injury-free distance runners were recruited to run at 6 different cadences with acoustic pacing. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) containing an onboard triaxial accelerometer was mounted on the right medial distal tibia to record acceleration at each of these paces. Background: Iron deficiency can occur in the presence or absence of anemia and is defined as ferritin less than 15–30 μg/L or transferrin saturation less than 20% per the American Society of Hematology guidelines. Intravenous (IV) iron is used to treat iron deficiency when oral iron supplements are ineffective or not tolerated due to gastrointestinal issues or inability to take medications orally. Intravenous iron allows for more rapid replenishment of iron stores, especially in cases where absorption is compromised. Background: More than 50% of patients with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) are left without explanations for their losses. However, current research suggests that up to 90% of these individuals could receive explanations through evidence-based laboratory testing. Professional guidelines vary in their recommendations for laboratory testing and RPL evaluation, which can contribute to delayed or fragmented care and untreated maternal disease. Inequities in access to genetic testing further complicate the diagnostic landscape of RPL since payor policies often determine which tests are covered, leaving many patients without access due to financial constraints.

Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) is an enveloped positive-sense RNA virus in the alphavirus genus of the Togaviridea family, that causes encephalitis in humans and equids. Currently no FDA-approved vaccine or treatment is available for human use, emphasizing the importance of studying host-VEEV interaction. lncRNAs are regulatory RNAs involved in modulation of antiviral pathways during viral infections. Here we report differential lncRNAs expression in primary mouse astrocytes and neurons during non-pathogenic (TC-83) but not pathogenic (TrD) VEEV infection. Diffuse Midline Gliomas (DMG) occur in the midline structures of the brain such as the brainstem. DMG, a subset of pediatric high-grade gliomas (pHGGs), confers poor prognosis in children with survival rates below two years post-diagnosis. This is heavily due to limited treatment options as radiation and chemotherapy are only temporarily effective and surgery pose high risks. DMG are characterized by histone mutations typically occurring in histone 3.1 and 3.3 alleles, with about more than 80% of patients containing the H3K27 mutation. B cells produce immunoglobulins (IGs; antibodies), which are critical protein components of the immune system. Human IGs are composed of two pairs of identical ‘heavy’ chains and ‘light’ kappa or lambda chains, encoded by genes located at three loci in the genome: the IG heavy chain locus (IGH, chromosome 14), and the IG lambda (IGL, chromosome 22) and kappa (IGK, chromosome 2) loci. Each locus spans ~920-100 kilobase pairs (Kbp) of DNA and harbors families of gene segments that are somatically rearranged during B cell development. These traumatic brain injuries result from various impacts, causing symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and memory loss, which can disrupt an athlete's daily life. We present a case of a 32-year-old female with repeated movements of the right arm, and confusion with a background of pains in multiple joints. Microbial dysbiosis is increasingly understood to influence allergic sensitization and skin barrier defects in dermatitis. Occlusion, such as from moisturizers, fosters microbial dysbiosis, and increases itch in many patients with dermatitis. Nevertheless, use of moisturizers in dermatitis remains part of dermatologic guidelines. This is a review of the evidence of benefits and adverse effects of moisturizers in dermatitis and a proposal for moderation in their clinical use.

Variation is thought to occur in the use of dietary energy for production in dairy cattle. First, variance can be observed when new methane mitigation strategies are fed resulting in increased H₂ output potentially resulting in downstream effects on estimates heat production via the Brouwer (1965) equation. Therefore, in chapter 3 a review was created to systematically describe the mathematics and theory behind the Brouwer equation, and rederive a heat production equation to integrate H₂ production.
