The reason why the practice of dentistry is sometimes criticized to-day is because it was separated from the practice of medicine at a time when mouth disorder as a cause of systemic disease was not recognized, and mechanical restoration of teeth was made the foundation of dentistry. The keynote in judging a man's ability was by the expertness of his mechanical skill. This attitude toward dentistry, not only by the medical men but by the laity as well, has been a regrettable weakness in the dental profession. History tells us that the nursing done in the early hospitals in the United States, a hundred years ago, was of the poorest possible type, excluding that of the religious orders. The non-sectarian hospitals were public institutions and most of the nursing was done by inmates or by the very poorest class of individuals, who could obtain no other work, and were compelled to earn a meagre livelihood in this manner. Also included are informational sections such a list of alumnae, class history, information about the school's endowment fund, the class prophecy, a class will, class song, class poem, senior class statistics, and advertisements. The economic importance of Atropa Belladonna has long been recognized because of the valuable alkaloids which it contains. Belladonna belongs to the Solanaceae or Nightshade family, which is composed of about 1500 species, many of these also being of economic importance. At the academy of Agriculture in Klansenburg since 1916, two constant deviations from the normal variety of Atropa Belladonna L. have been grown. They are Atropa Belladonna var. flava and Atropa Belladonna var. intermediata. The alkaloidal content is higher than that of the normal variety. Belladonna, grown in other parts of the country, undoubtedly has been thoroughly studied in …
