Preparation Of Health Education Materials In The Field Of Maternal And Infant Care For Use In Taiwan, Muriel Howe

Health Education was assumed to be one effective method of improving maternal and infant health on the Island of Taiwan.

To establish the need for new health education pamphlets to be used as a supplement to the health education program in the area of maternal and infant care in Taiwan, a survey of pamphlets already available on the Island was made.

This study revealed that while an occasional chapter in several books lightly touched upon maternal and infant health only nine pamphlets were specifically prepared in the area of maternal and infant care.

It was the purpose of this study to consider four phases of the nature of the learning experiences of students of nursing in the operating room. The phases of the problem studied were: (1) Are the learning experiences "new" or "an expansion and/or clarification of previous learnings?" (2) Do new learning experiences continue throughout the clinical assignment to the operating room? (3) Are the learning experiences concentrated in some areas of learning more than in others? (4) Is there a relationship between the area of learning and the type of duty performed by the student in the operating room?

The purpose of this study was to find out what levels of responsibilities recent graduates of four Seventh-day Adventist basic college programs in nursing assumed during the first year following graduation; to find if these recent graduates felt adequately prepared for their positions; and to find out why they accepted their positions.

The descriptive survey method was selected for the research. The questionnaire, chosen as the means of obtaining data, was sent to the 106 nurses who graduated in 1956 of whom 82 percent responded. This study has been conducted to determine what would be required to raise the level of nursing education at Nyadiri Mission Hospital, from that of registered nursing orderly to registered nurse, and to determine if it would be feasible at this time to endeavor to meet those requirements.

The narrative-survey method was used in this study. Four different questionnaires were designed, sent, and returns analyzed and tabulated.

The survey revealed that the requirements for the registered nurses course consisted of the following:

In this study an effort was made to determine, in part, if the fears of persons who have been decrying the use of subliminal stimulation in advertising were realistic. Accepting the work of other scholars that this phase of perception does exist, this writer attempted to explore one facet of the problem with this hypothesis: persons who receive subliminal stimuli will be more apt to consciously recall the stimuli if they are aware that the stimuli are being given.

The high incidence of tooth decay, one of the most common diseases found in all age groups, gives a reason for the study of methods to prevent dental caries. Certain dietary factors, specifically carbohydrates, have been implicated in the decay process. Since diet influences both the oral and systemic environments in which the teeth develop, mature, age, and decay (1), many studies have been conducted to determine the effects of oral administration of different carbohydrates on dental caries. The extrinsic effects of diet on the mature erupted tooth have, however, been the major concern of the research (2).

This was a study of the religious behavior of the nurses who have graduated from a selected school of nursing. The purposes of the study were (1) to obtain information as to what the graduates of the selected school have been and are doing relative to their everyday religious behavior and practices, and (2) to ascertain to what extent, if any, this school of nursing has influenced the every-day religious behavior and practices of the graduates.
