Sertoli Call Tumour, B. Sunyasootcharee Apr 1972

Sertoli Call Tumour, B. Sunyasootcharee

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A case report of the Sertoli cell tumour in a 4-year-old dog is presented. The neoplasm developed in a testicle which is abnormally retained at the external inguinal ring. Histological examinations reveal all the characteristics described in the literatures typical of the Sertoli Cell tumour. The transition of cellular morphology and the difference of arrangement of the tumour cells from area to area are demonstrated. The cellular arrangement ranges from tubules lined with multi-layers of well-differentiated tumour neoplastic cells to solidly filled tubules. The latter is practically filled with cells. Signs of feminization are observed. รายงานนี้เป็นงานเป็นรายงานเกี่ยวกับเนื้องอกของลูกอัณฑะชนิดที่เรียกว่า Sertoli cell tumour รายหนึง …

A Comparative Consideration Of Lipoprotein Distribution And Stress Response In The Mallard Duck And Man, Janice Mackay Apr 1972

A Comparative Consideration Of Lipoprotein Distribution And Stress Response In The Mallard Duck And Man, Janice Mackay

Honors Theses

Lipid is associated with all of the major serum protein fractions of both the mallard duck and man. however, whereas the ρ lipoproteins predominate in man with little lipo-albumin evident, according to available literature, in ducks the lipo-albumin constitutes more than half of the serum lipoproteins, and a substantial lipo-prealbumin fraction is evident. Most studies of lipo-proteins are carried out on human serum primarily for the purpose of diagnosis of abnormalities. The stress response in many animals includes a rise in serum α-globulin levels, but its physiological basis is still speculative. While a consideration of the changes in lipoprotein distribution …

A Modified Belief Theory Of Prejudice Emphasizing The Mutual Causality Of Racial Prejudice And Anticipated Belief Differences, Richard A. Dienstbier Mar 1972

A Modified Belief Theory Of Prejudice Emphasizing The Mutual Causality Of Racial Prejudice And Anticipated Belief Differences, Richard A. Dienstbier

Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications

The belief theory of prejudice introduced by M. Rokeach stated that racial prejudice is the result of the anticipation of belief differences. The unidirectional causal relationship implied is criticized as oversimplified. Research, supporting the belief theory is examined, with conceptual and experimental deficiencies noted. A new formulation is proposed which emphasizes mutual causality between racial prejudice and anticipated belief differences. Two studies supporting that view are presented in which belief communications were presented as tape-recorded interviews or speeches, with the race and social class of the communicator first having been manipulated. The interrelationships between communicator’s race, specific communication topic, and …

Cytology Of Rectosigmoid Diseases Using The Replica Method, Victor Lawoyin, Klaus Anselm Mar 1972

Cytology Of Rectosigmoid Diseases Using The Replica Method, Victor Lawoyin, Klaus Anselm

Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal

The cytology of rectal imprints of 105 control subjects and 79 patients with various rectosigmoid diseases has been studied. Our modified slide applicator was employed and found to be efficient, safe and easy to use. The cytological method has been more accurate than evaluation of the macroscopic appearance of the rectal mucosa only and therefore more efficient in the early diagnosis and follow-up of inflammatory bowel diseases. If used during routine proctosigmoidoscopy, it can help to determine the true incidence of proctocolitis in the population at large.

The Simultaneous Occurrence Of Monosodium Urate And Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate Crystals In An Arthritic Joint, Gilbert B. Bluhm, Frank J. Viozzi Mar 1972

The Simultaneous Occurrence Of Monosodium Urate And Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate Crystals In An Arthritic Joint, Gilbert B. Bluhm, Frank J. Viozzi

Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal

Gout and pseudogout, two metabolically different diseases, occur rarely in the same individual. A patient is reported who featured calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate and monosodium urate cryslals simultaneously in the synovial fiuid exudate which was removed during an acute arthritic attack of the left knee. The patient represents the seventh such case reported in the literature. The pathogenetic differences of gout and pseudogout are reviewed as they relate to the role of the crystal.

Comparative Gastroscopic Study Of Choline Salicylate And Aspirin, S. C. Danao, B. M. Schuman Mar 1972

Comparative Gastroscopic Study Of Choline Salicylate And Aspirin, S. C. Danao, B. M. Schuman

Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal

Choline salicylate is the anhydrous choline salt of salicylic acid. It possesses the therapeutic effects of aspirin. Clinical trials suggest that it is less irritating to the gastric mucosa. A double-blind gastroscopic study of the acute effects on the gastric mucosa of choline salicylate, aspirin and matching placebo was carried out. Using the fiberoptic gastroscope. the stomach was examined and photographed before, and ten minutes after, the patient had swallowed the tablets. Results were evaluated on the basis of combined endoscopic and photographic observations. This study suggests that choline salicylate in its tablet form causes less gastric mucosal injury than …

The Role Of Surgery In Cecal Diverticulitis, C. Grodsinsky, J. Soares, M. A. Block, B. E. Brush Mar 1972

The Role Of Surgery In Cecal Diverticulitis, C. Grodsinsky, J. Soares, M. A. Block, B. E. Brush

Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal

Cecal diverticula, although rare, may result in acute or chronic diverticulitis. Rarely does acute hemorrhage arise from cecal diverticula. The diagnosis of acute diverticulitis usually is evident at operation and an appropriate resection is usually feasible, although the local status and general condition of the patient modifies treatment in some instances. Chronic cecal diverticulitis is usually difficult to distinguish from carcinoma and a resection is justified.

Branchial Anomalies In Idiopathic Hypoparathyroidism: Branchial Dysembryogenesis, Michael J. Miller, Boy Frame, Andrew K. Poznanski, C. E. Jackson, Gustave Bermudez Mar 1972

Branchial Anomalies In Idiopathic Hypoparathyroidism: Branchial Dysembryogenesis, Michael J. Miller, Boy Frame, Andrew K. Poznanski, C. E. Jackson, Gustave Bermudez

Henry Ford Hospital Medical Journal

Four of 13 patients with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism had associated congenital anomalies of branchial origin. Three had characteristic hypernasal speech. One of these patients exhibited a cleft palate and the other two had functional and anatomic anomalies of the velo-pharyngeal musculature which explained the speech disturbance. The fourth patient represents the twenty-second recorded case of the III and IV pharyngeal pouch (DiGeorge's) syndrome, manifested by absent parathyroids and thymus glands associated with unusual facial features and cardiovascular anomalies. Our four patients exhibited a total of 15 congenital anomalies of branchial origin. By including our patients with those reviewed from the literature, …

Carbon And Nitrogen As Regulators Of Algal Growth In Treated Sewage, Edward G. Foree, Charles Reece Scroggin Mar 1972

Carbon And Nitrogen As Regulators Of Algal Growth In Treated Sewage, Edward G. Foree, Charles Reece Scroggin

KWRRI Research Reports

Continuous flow algal cultures were grown under three different growth conditions using secondary sewage treatment plant effluent as the growth medium. The only variable within each run was the hydraulic residence time. The concentrations of growth regulating nutrients were varied between the runs so comparisons of the algal mass, composition, nutrient uptake, and genera could be made. The importance of CO2 availability for algal growth was also studied. A kinetic theory which based algal growth on cellular nutrient concentration was verified. The second phase of the study was a batch culture study in which the same growth medium was …
