Live music events present barriers to people with disabilities, limiting participation and full engagement at these events. This capstone project aimed to understand the lived experience of people with disabilities at live music events. A mixed methods research study and optional interview to gather data were used. Through thematic analysis, three themes were presented: physical barriers, more than just music, and the lack of education on invisible disabilities. Neurotypical siblings of neurodivergent children often experience unique roles, responsibilities, and emotional challenges within their family systems, yet their needs are frequently overlooked in service delivery models. This mixed methods study explored the lived experiences of individuals who grew up with neurodivergent siblings, focusing on the occupations, routines, and play experiences that shaped their development. Four themes emerged through thematic analysis of survey responses and semi-structured interviews: (1) play as a reconstructed experience, (2) role imbalance in daily life, (3) environmental influences on occupational engagement, and (4) navigating emotional demands. Introduction: The pancreas is surrounded by several critical organs, making it challenging to treat with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). Previous studies have shown that applying biological constraints, such as the generalized equivalent uniform dose (gEUD), to organs at risk (OARs) can effectively reduce the radiation dose to these structures. This study evaluated whether adding a target gEUD constraint to the planning target volume (PTV) would improve target coverage in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Unmet Supportive Care Needs In Patients With Advanced Cancer And Its Impact On Distress, Kayla W Miranda, Benjamin L Musher, Hoda J Badr

Purpose: Patients with advanced cancer endure considerable physical and emotional distress without sufficient supportive care. This cross-sectional study examined the relationship between cancer-related symptoms, supportive care needs, and distress levels in patients with advanced lung, head and neck, or gastrointestinal cancers.

Methods: 158 patients were assessed for symptom burden and distress levels using the M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) and unmet needs using the Supportive Care Needs Survey (SCNS-34) within one month of treatment initiation. Pearson correlations and multiple regression analyses were used to explore associations between supportive care needs and distress.

Background: Impact of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) on pneumococcal disease is well described; pneumococcus is infrequently identified by culture in pneumonia. Yield is higher when pleural fluid is cultured. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in pleural fluid samples improves pathogen identification, particularly in the case of S. pneumoniae.

Methods: Healthy children with empyema who underwent pleural fluid drainage were eligible. Demographics and PCV immunization status were collected. Blood/pleural fluid cultures were obtained. Pleural fluid samples were sent for PCR for pathogen. Serotyping was done by Neufeld-Quellung reaction on pneumococcus isolates, and PCR in culture negative cases.

BACKGROUND: Black people in the United States face persistent and increasing inequities in addiction treatment access and drug overdose death. Incorporating people with lived experience through community based participatory research (CBPR) approaches can improve understanding of drivers of and solutions to such inequities. However, practical and systemic challenges limit incorporating Black people with lived experience with substance use across each step of the research process. This paper describes the methods, recommendations, and lessons learned from a research team and Black-led community advisory board (CAB) working together across the research process to promote equity in harm reduction and addiction treatment.

This doctoral capstone was completed in partnership with Bridges for Parkinson’s, a local nonprofit offering specialized fitness classes for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. The goal of this project was to promote participation in preferred leisure activities, including pickleball, golf, and hiking, and provide education to care partners. Programming was developed with adapted preparatory exercises and activities corresponding to leisure activities in fitness classes. Clients were provided with the opportunity to participate in leisure activities at an off-site location at the end of the week. PURPOSE The purpose of this project was to improve early Oral Immune Therapy (OIT) initiation by implementing a nursing intervention bundle for infants weighing less than 1500 grams at birth.

Background/Objective: Children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are at increased risk of malnutrition due to restrictive dietary patterns and behavioral difficulties at mealtimes. Research suggests that heightened sensory sensitivity, a characteristic accompanying several of these disorders, may be a contributing factor. However, the effects of sensory sensitivity on nutritional outcomes across distinct NDDs have not been fully explored. BACKGROUND: While human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent HPV-related cancers, many children and adolescents remain unvaccinated. Resistance often stems from parental vaccine hesitancy and mistrust of the health care system, both of which may be higher in communities of color. Partnering with social media influencers may be an effective method for disseminating health messages. We tested the impact of HPV social media posts developed by influencers on outcomes of knowledge, attitudes, and intentions to vaccinate.

The mandibular condylar cartilage (MCC) is a dual-function component of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), acting as both articular cartilage for jaw movement and growth cartilage for vertical growth of the mandibular condyle. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) plays a critical role in orchestrating chondrogenesis in the long bone, and its importance is also highlighted in both MCC development and TMJ function. Here, we discuss the role of PTHrP in the development, growth and diseases of the MCC. DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) present a critical threat to genomic integrity, often precipitating genomic instability and oncogenesis. Repair of DSBs predominantly occurs through homologous recombination (HR) and non-homologous end joining (NHEJ). In HR-deficient cells, DNA polymerase theta (Polθ) becomes critical for DSB repair via microhomology-mediated end joining (MMEJ), also termed theta-mediated end joining (TMEJ). Thus, Polθ is synthetically lethal with BRCA1/2 and other HR factors, underscoring its potential as a therapeutic target in HR-deficient cancers. Background/Objectives: Celecoxib, a COX-2 selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is widely prescribed for pain management due to its efficacy and improved gastrointestinal safety profile compared to traditional NSAIDs. Understanding prescription trends and their comparison to other NSAIDs provides valuable insight into prescribing behaviors in clinical settings.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, characterized by elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) and insulin dysregulation. This disease is associated with morbidity and mortality, including significant potential vascular complications. High levels of hyperglycemia lead to not only elevated levels of reactive oxygen species but also advanced glycation end products, which are detrimental to the vascular endothelium and reduce protective compounds such as nitric oxide and prostacyclin. The Rohingya displaced population in Bangladesh is the largest stateless population in the world.
