Abstract

Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome (SUIDS) is the leading cause of infant death. There is literature stating nursing compliance with safe sleep modeling in the hospital is a concern. In 2022, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) updated their safe sleep guidelines which include the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The national average rate of SUIDS is 94.8 deaths per 100,000 live births (CDC, 2024). In Kentucky the rate is higher than that at a rate of 128.4 deaths due to SUID per 100,000 live births (CDC, 2024). The purpose of this project was to educate nursing staff, with …

Abstract

Background: Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States with 356,000 out of hospital cases annually. SCA in athletes is a rare but serious event; affecting 15.4% of those engaged in martial arts. Community-based training programs which promote prompt intervention with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) significantly improve survival outcomes.

Purpose: This project aimed to implement a CPR and AED training program at a local martial arts school to improve the knowledge, self-efficacy, and emergency response capabilities of staff, instructors, and adult learners.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a leading cause of infertility, primarily due to anovulation caused by hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, and disrupted ovarian function. This paper describes a 28-year-old woman with PCOS who presented with subfertility after failing to conceive for 10 months. Initial treatment involved Metformin for insulin resistance, vitamin D, folic acid, and Dydrogesterone for cycle regulation. Ovulation induction with Letrozole was initiated but showed a suboptimal response in three cycles. Success was achieved in the fourth cycle by combining Letrozole with injectable Menotropins (HMG), leading to improved follicular growth, endometrial thickness, and successful conception. Indigenous patients come from different belief backgrounds that shape their understanding of death and health practices. Synthesis Of A New Composite Nanomaterial Consisting Of Bentonite-Polyethylene Glycolphthalate, Tariq Yassin Mahmoud

In this study, a new composite material was characterized and prepared by polymerizing ethylene glycol located among bentonite layers with phthalic anhydride. The results showed that the polymer bonds with the clay structure through hydrogen bonding. The polymerization process led to the destruction of the three-dimensional crystal structure of the clay and the isolation of its layers in the form of two-dimensional nanoscale shells. The growth of the polymer around the isolated clay layers increased the total particle size at the microscopic scale.

BACKGROUND: Given the high incidence of shoulder injuries among quarterbacks due to the repetitive stress of the overhead throwing motion, there is a need for targeted, sport-specific assessments that reflect the functional demands of throwing. The Athletic Shoulder (ASH) test, previously validated in rugby and baseball populations, offers a potential solution for upper extremity strength assessment in football quarterbacks. The primary purpose of this case series was to explore the feasibility of conducting the ASH test as a method for evaluating upper extremity strength in overhead athletes, specifically collegiate quarterbacks.

BACKGROUND: Mechanical thrombectomy has become a first-line adjunctive therapy for anticoagulation in patients with acute intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism (PE). This prospective study evaluated the safety and efficacy of percutaneous mechanical aspiration thrombectomy with autologous blood reinfusion using the next-generation AVENTUS Thrombectomy System (Inquis Medical) in subjects with acute intermediate-risk PE.

To alleviate staffing burdens, Epic Systems’ electronic health record (EHR) introduced the Simple Visit Coding (SVC) work queue, designed to evaluate hospital patient encounters and automatically assign International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) diagnosis codes.
