PURPOSE: Clinical screening systems (CSSs) for Cushing syndrome (CS) validated in Europe have not been evaluated for CS or Cushing disease (CD) in the United States (US). We aimed to evaluate existing CSSs in US patients and develop two new symptom-based CSSs to identify patients with high pre-test probability of disease warranting referral for definitive biochemical workup-one for broad CS screening and one specifically for CD.

B cells express many protein ligands, yet their regulatory functions are incompletely understood. We profiled ligand expression across murine B sublineage cells, including those activated by defined receptor signals, and assessed their regulatory capacities and specificities through in silico analysis of ligand-receptor interactions. Consequently, we identified a B cell subset that expressed cytokine interleukin-27 (IL-27) and chemokine CXCL10. Through the IL-27–IL-27 receptor interaction, these IL-27/CXCL10-producing B cells targeted CD40-activated B cells in vitro and, upon induction by immunization and viral infection, optimized antibody responses and antiviral immunity in vivo. Purpose: Sexual Health Education (SHE) is an important issue for adolescents everywhere, including those with autism or Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who live in the Arab world. These young people can become especially vulnerable if their sexual behaviour is inappropriate. Methods: The current studies explored the effectiveness of culturally attuned Behavioural Activation to enhance safeguarding five autistic young people, while at the same time, not abrogating safe and appropriate sexual behaviour. Head and neck free flap surgery is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. Goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) has been increasingly adopted in perioperative care; however, its benefit over conventional fluid therapy (CFT) in this setting remains uncertain. This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed the effect of GDFT versus CFT on post-operative outcomes. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Dental/Oral Science, and Google Scholar identified randomised controlled trials published between 2010 and 2023. On 27 February 1962, Surgeon General Luther Terry announced a new vaccine development program within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Initially, the plan had three components: (1) special laboratories and facilities for development of prototype vaccines; (2) pilot lot production facilities and preliminary vaccine trial sites; and (3) larger lot production capacity and expanded human testing. Respiratory viruses were targeted as the top priority for vaccine development. DNA methylation is an epigenetic modification that regulates gene expression by adding methyl groups to DNA, affecting cellular function and disease development. Machine learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, analyzes large datasets to identify patterns and make predictions. Background: Youth who are experiencing homelessness face a higher risk of HIV infection compared to their housed peers, and suicide and overdose remain the leading causes of death among homeless youth. Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAIs) are gaining momentum for HIV prevention and substance use research. Yet, most interventions for homeless youth have not addressed modifiable real-time factors.

Objective: This paper describes the development and implementation of a randomized attention-controlled trial to assess the efficacy of motivating youth to reduce infections, disconnections, and emotional dysregulation (MY-RIDE), a JITAI to improve HIV prevention and substance use in homeless youth.

Type 2 diabetes is associated with a range of non-cardiovascular non-oncologic comorbidities. To move beyond associations and evaluate causal effects between type 2 diabetes genetic predisposition and 21 comorbidities, we apply Mendelian randomization analysis using genome-wide association studies across multiple genetic ancestries. Additionally, leveraging eight mechanistic clusters of type 2 diabetes genetic profiles, each representing distinct biological pathways, we investigate causal links between cluster-stratified type 2 diabetes genetic predisposition and comorbidity risk. Heart failure is caused in part by cardiac remodeling processes that include the death of cardiac myocytes and their replacement by cardiac fibroblasts. Here, we hypothesize that cardiac fibroblasts may harbor epigenetic contexts in which heart disease-associated non-coding SNPs perturb gene expression relevant to disease. To test this, we utilized male primary cardiac fibroblasts to generate high-resolution Hi-C data and integrate it with functional genomic information to annotate and link putative distal regulatory elements in heart disease-associated loci to gene promoters. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of transgender and nonbinary (TNB) individuals related to their access to basic healthcare. Currently, the TNB population is experiencing disparities in accessing general and preventative healthcare in comparison to their cisgendered counterparts.
