Introduction: Migraines account for approximately 1.2 million U.S. emergency department (ED) visits annually, yet fewer than 25% of individuals achieve sustained relief, underscoring the need for more effective, standardized care. The American Headache Society recommends first-line ED therapy with intravenous fluids, nonopioid analgesics, and antidopaminergic agents; if inadequate, escalation to triptans or dihydroergotamine is appropriate, with adjuncts such as magnesium or valproic acid. Opioids are discouraged due to limited efficacy and safety concerns. We evaluated the impact of implementing an evidence-based ED migraine pathway following provider education.

Introduction: Baptist Hospital of Miami (BHM) is transitioning to an academic medical center by starting medical residency training in July 2025. As healthcare systems expand, pharmacists must ensure safe medication dispensing and provide real-time clinical decision support. To support this transition, a structured internal medicine pharmacotherapy curriculum was developed to refresh clinical knowledge and enhance confidence among experienced clinical pharmacists.

Breast cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers worldwide, with approximately 15% classified as Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). TNBC lacks expression of estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PR), and does not overexpress HER-2, leaving patients without effective targeted therapies. As a result, treatment primarily relies on chemotherapy, most commonly paclitaxel, a taxane that stabilize microtubules, disrupts chromosome separation and induces apoptosis. However, TNBCs are an aggressive cancer subtype, and patients often will develop resistance after a few rounds of chemotherapy. Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths with a low 5-year relative survival rate of approximately 13.3% for all stages combined. We have previously shown that exercise can improve quality of life and enhance functional capacity among patients with PDAC. Exercise induces a variety of changes in the tumor microenvironment with beneficial effects in several tumor types. However, our understanding of the clinical effects of exercise and the mechanisms that mediate anti-tumor effects are limited in pancreatic cancer.

House screening (HS) of doors, eaves, and windows using wire-mesh has demonstrated potential in the integrated vector management of malaria. However, limited epidemiological data are available to guide its implementation across different ecological settings. In a 16-month randomized controlled trial (follow-up period) conducted across three agroecological areas (dry mountain, plateau highland, and semi-arid) in Jabi Tehnan district, northwestern Ethiopia, treatment houses were equipped with HS combined with insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), while control houses received ITNs only. The intervention led to a significant 2.3-fold reduction in indoor malaria vector density, the primary entomologic outcome, largely influenced by An. gambiae s.l. mosquitoes. …

Energy drinks (EDs) are among the most consumed functional beverages, often marketed to enhance focus, alertness, and physical performance. Despite their popularity, the combined cardiovascular and autonomic effects of caffeine and sugar during exercise remain poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to examine the acute cardiovascular, metabolic, and autonomic responses to sugar-sweetened (ED-S), non-nutritive sweetened (ED-NNS), and placebo beverages during submaximal cycling in healthy young males.

Introduction: Evidence supports a healthy diet for secondary stroke prevention; however, programs to implement nutrition education remain inconsistent. This study assessed the feasibility and efficacy of using a multisensory approach called the “Hands-on Training” program (HOT) to improve healthy diet adherence among patients rehabilitating after stroke.

Methods: This pilot randomized controlled study was conducted at an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Introduction: Positional changes may contribute to progression of labor in nulliparous women. We investigated the use of non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions during the first stage of labor in nulliparous, term, singleton, vertex (NTSV) women at a community hospital in the U.S. Another aim was to compare the times from the first intervention to completion of the first stage of labor across three interventions.

Methods: Ours was a descriptive, retrospective study of 98 NTSV women from January to June 2025. Descriptive and inferential statistics were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 27.

Adaptive sports and recreation (ASR) refers to recreational and competitive physical activities modified to be inclusive and accessible for persons with disabilities (PWD), adjusting equipment, rules, instruction, and environmental setup to support participation across a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities. PWD often report feeling disempowered due to social stigma, inaccessible environments, and limited opportunities to make meaningful choices about leisure and community life. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a lack of pre-pandemic planning resulted in sub-optimal policy outcomes. Crucial lessons can be drawn from the experience of Singapore and Australia in the pandemic in implementing various tax and non-tax economic measures; lessons that can help in preparing for the next pandemic (“Disease X”). This article analyses and critically evaluates three main categories of economic measures: direct payments, tax measures and non-tax “other” measures. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic systemic immune dysregulated disorder affecting the gastrointestinal tract that often has extraintestinal manifestations. Limited data exist on the cardiovascular (CV) implications of IBD, but a higher prevalence of CV disease (CVD) has been observed compared to the general population, resulting in increased mortality risk. This review examines the pathophysiology and risk factors linking IBD to CVD, highlighting several key mechanisms: The “lipid paradox” in active IBD, arterial stiffness and endothelial dysfunction, proinflammatory cytokine activity, gut microbiota dysbiosis, and drug-induced myocardiopathy. Exercise has emerged as an effective therapeutic strategy in cancer management. Long-term supervised exercise programs, including resistance training and aerobic training, can improve body composition and physical fitness, modulate circulating factors (e.g., hormones, cytokines), enhance treatment tolerance, and reduce side effects, potentially influencing cancer progression and reducing mortality risk. Despite advancements in exercise oncology, opportunities remain to refine exercise prescription through the integration of advanced methodologies such as periodization and autoregulatory programming strategies. Chagas disease remains one of the most persistent and neglected parasitic infections in the Americas, advancing silently through the intracellular replication of Trypanosoma cruzi amastigotes and the invasive spread of trypomastigotes. The survival of the parasite is critically reliant on protein N-myristoylation, a lipid modification catalyzed by N-myristoyltransferase (NMT).
