Purpose – This study seeks to bridge the gap between users’ multidimensional needs and the single-task capabilities of existing Mental Health Question Answering (MHQA) systems by tackling the underexplored challenge of jointly understanding medical informational needs and emotional support needs within complex consumer mental health inquiries. Objective: This study evaluates an understudied perspective: the experiences of prospective parents who decline prenatal genome sequencing (pGS) for continuing pregnancies with fetal structural anomalies.

Method: We recruited a total cohort of 300 parents of 150 pregnancies who declined pGS, including 33 individuals who underwent an invasive procedure. These parents were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview between 1 and 15 months post-partum. We used Thematic Analysis to code and analyze interviews.

Aberrant cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) activity is implicated as a resistance mechanism to CDK4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) in hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer. Using preclinical patient-derived xenograft models, the CDK2i + CDK4/6i combination was active broadly across CDK4/6i-resistant and -naïve HR+ and triple-negative breast cancer models. A novel, weighted mRNA expression signature involving CCND1, CCNE1, RB1, and CDKN2A (p16) predicted response to combined inhibition of CDK2 and CDK4/6. Addition of endocrine therapy significantly enhanced antitumor activity in HR+ models, providing preclinical proof-of-concept for the broad antitumor activity of the triple combination. Recent advances are transforming our understanding of brain fluid dynamics, highlighting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow as a key process in brain waste clearance. While debates persist regarding its anatomical pathways and regulatory mechanisms, certain core principles have become widely accepted. CSF influx occurs primarily along periarterial spaces, solute clearance follows multiple routes, and glymphatic and meningeal lymphatic systems are functionally connected. Brain clearance is influenced by vascular pulsation, neural activity, and sleep. Immune cells at brain-border niches both monitor solute efflux and modulate flow, linking brain clearance to neuroimmune interactions. Abstract

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a commercially available energy drink (Ghost®) compared to a caffeine-matched control on measures of mental and physical performance.

Methods: In a randomized, double-blind design, 62 participants were assigned to receive either the energy drink (Ghost®) or a caffeine-matched control (200 mg caffeine). Assessments were conducted at baseline and approximately 45 minutes post-ingestion, including the Psychomotor Vigilance Test (PVT), CNS Tap Test, handgrip strength, and the Profile of Mood States (POMS).

The purpose of this quality improvement (QI) initiative was to enhance nursing documentation of patients’ chief complaints and anatomical site markings through an evidence-based educational intervention targeting nurse-trained X-ray technicians. Guided by Benner’s Novice-to-Expert framework and principles of evidence-based practice, this project employed a pre- and post-intervention design over a two-week implementation period. The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device treats wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms, but occlusion rates vary. This study aims to identify factors associated with immediate WEB device occlusion. Data from patients treated with WEB devices across 36 sites were analyzed. Machine learning algorithms and ordinal regression models were developed to predict immediate incomplete occlusion for ruptured and unruptured aneurysms. The study included 1565 patients, with 436 ruptured and 1129 unruptured aneurysms. Immediate complete occlusion was achieved in 38.3% of ruptured and 32.8% of unruptured aneurysms. For ruptured aneurysms, the CatBoost classifier achieved an AUROC of 0.69. Key predictors of incomplete occlusion included pretreatment …

This study investigates how perceptions of pay transparency among U.S. healthcare workers relate to work engagement, burnout levels, and intentions to stay with their current institution. A quantitative survey was conducted of 200 clinical and non-clinical employees across academic, nonprofit, for-profit, and government healthcare organizations. Self-reported views of transparency were evaluated in relation to validated measures of work engagement, burnout, stay intentions, and pay secrecy. The results showed that increased perceived compensation transparency was highly connected with greater work engagement and lower levels of burnout. BACKGROUND: Same-day discharge (SDD) after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) may improve patient satisfaction and optimize healthcare resources. Pulsed field ablation (PFA) offers a favorable safety profile, potentially enabling broader adoption of SDD strategies.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate site-level practice patterns and participant- and procedure-related factors associated with SDD after de novo PFA for AF.

METHODS: We analyzed data from participants in the DISRUPT-AF registry, a prospective, multicenter study evaluating ablation acute outcomes with a pentaspline PFA catheter. We examined participant and procedure characteristics associated with both SDD planning and success.

Erythropoietin (EPO) shows promise for Alzheimer's disease (AD) but has poor brain penetration, necessitating high doses that cause hematopoietic side effects. To improve brain delivery, EPO was fused to a transferrin receptor monoclonal antibody (TfRMAb), and this study evaluated the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and efficacy of repeated TfRMAb-EPO dosing in mice to further its preclinical development. C57BL/6J male mice (10 weeks old, n = 4–5/dose) received subcutaneous (SQ) low (1 mg/kg), mid (3 and 6 mg/kg), or high (20 mg/kg) TfRMAb-EPO doses for 4 weeks. This theoretical paper introduces the Verbal–Cognitive Scaffold (VCS) Model, a cognitively inclusive framework which proposes the cognitive architectures underlying computational thinking (CT). Moving beyond monolithic theories of cognition (e.g., executive-function and metacognitive control models), the VCS Model posits inner speech (InSp) as the predominant cognitive pathway supporting CT operations in neurotypical populations. Evidence-based, person-centered interventions are proven to improve outcomes but are frequently underutilized due to limited staff training. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was to improve nursing staff competency in managing residents with dementia and behavioral disturbances through structured, evidence-based education. The quality improvement (QI) project aims to determine if clinical instructors perceive changes in self-efficacy in communication skills specific to lateral violence (LV) situations secondary to an educational intervention. Currently, clinical nurse instructors lack education specifically addressing communication strategies to utilize when LV occurs in the clinical setting. Banduras Social Cognitive Theory, Lewin’s Change Theory and the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) were employed as frameworks in the development of this project. Nursing faculty frequently experience high levels of stress, workload demands, and burnout, which can negatively affect teaching effectiveness and retention. Literature supports resilience as a protective factor that enhances well-being and professional sustainability. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to impact resilience levels among full-time undergraduate nursing faculty through a self-paced online resiliency training program. Guided by Pender’s Health Promotion Model and Lewin’s Change Theory, this pre- and post-intervention design used the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10) to assess changes in resilience. Peer mentoring is recognized as an evidence-based strategy that offers support to students and enhances retention. This project aimed to implement a peer mentoring program based on the Nursing Universal Retention and Success (NURS) model. The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) framework and Havelock’s Theory of Planned Change guided the implementation process. The goal was to assess the program's impact on first-semester nursing student retention rates and students’ perceptions of success. First-semester nursing students in a traditional associate-degree nursing program volunteered to participate in the peer mentoring program for one semester.
