Introduction

Generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) chatbots are complex computer programs designed to mimic human conversations using programming that incorporates large language models (LLM) and natural language models (NLM) to simulate human interactions that are being rapidly integrated into everyday life across an increasing amount of online platforms. This article explores the applications and efficacy of chatbots for mental healthcare, from self-directed chatbot interactions to clinician-supervised implementation of chatbot-based therapeutic tools, weighing the benefits and limitations of this ever-expanding technology.

Methodology/Taxonomy

A literature review was conducted primarily using Web of Science, accessed through Portland State University, and Google Scholar, with specifications …

Predicting Off-Track Development In Infants Aged 0–6 Months In Low-Resource Settings Using Machine Learning, Faith Benson, Rachel Odhiambo, Anthony Ngugi, Willie Brink, Akbar Waljee, Cheryl Moyer, Ji Zhu, Felix Agoi, Amina Abubakar Jan 2026

Predicting Off-Track Development In Infants Aged 0–6 Months In Low-Resource Settings Using Machine Learning, Faith Benson, Rachel Odhiambo, Anthony Ngugi, Willie Brink, Akbar Waljee, Cheryl Moyer, Ji Zhu, Felix Agoi, Amina Abubakar

Institute for Human Development, East Africa

Background This study aimed to address the critical gap in the limited application of machine learning (ML) for identifying developmental delays in low-resource settings by developing models to predict off-track development in infants aged 0 to 6 months and identify key predictors.

Methods A cross-sectional study involving 1,995 singleton infants aged 0 to 6 months was conducted in Kaloleni and Rabai sub-counties, Kilifi, Kenya, between March 2023 and March 2024. Development was assessed using the World Health Organization’s Indicators of Infant and Young Child Development tool, with Development-for-Age Z-scores used to classify infants as on- or off-track. Ridge logistic regression …

Three Essays On Disparities And Outcomes Among Patients With Diabetes, Aiemere O. Oikeh Jan 2026

Three Essays On Disparities And Outcomes Among Patients With Diabetes, Aiemere O. Oikeh

Theses and Dissertations--Health Services Research (HSR)

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that patients with diabetes adopt 7 preventive care measures to improve their health outcomes. The recommendations are to check their blood glucose levels daily, undergo biennial hemoglobin A1c tests, undergo dilated eye exams once every 2 years, engage in regular physical activity, check their feet daily, have annual feet examinations performed by a clinician, and receive diabetes self-management education services (DSMES). Marital status has been found to be associated with positive health outcomes; thus, it is ideal to evaluate if there is an association between marital status and diabetes preventive care. The ADA also …

Evaluation Of Soft Tissue Response Of Two Different Provisional Prothesis Used For Immediate Load Full Arch Implant Prosthesis. Randomized Control Clinical Trial, Mubeen Jaafar Imran, Mohammed Hussein Raafat Abd Elfatah, Sally Elsayed Abdelsameaa, Moustafa Abdou Moustafa Elsyad

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: The study seeks to evaluate the gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD), plaque index (PI) for bar reinforced 3D printed provisional full arch and Milled PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) provisional full arch prostheses. Materials and methods: This study involves immediate implant placement in completely edentulous mandibles using computer-guided surgery. Patients are selected based on CBCT evaluation, ensuring bone density between D1 and D3. A removable complete denture was first fabricated to restore the occlusal plane. A dual scan technique was used with radiopaque markers for digital planning. Virtual prosthesis planning was performed using Exocad software. A stackable surgical guide was …

Comparative Study Between High Performance Polymers Versus Metallic Definitive Obturator: A Finite Element Analysis, Mostafa S. Swedan Jan 2026

Comparative Study Between High Performance Polymers Versus Metallic Definitive Obturator: A Finite Element Analysis, Mostafa S. Swedan

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Aim: This study investigates the mechanical performance of obturators fabricated from PEKKTON, PEEK, and traditional Cobalet-chromium materials using finite element analysis. Methods : One three dimensional finite element model was created for this study. Starting by cast laser scanning to create solid parts of the model "cortical, cancellous, mucosa, obturator, and partial denture" that to simulate restoration of maxillectomy defects. The model was subjected to average masticatory load of 200N distributed on the partial denture vertically and oblique. Results: The results of the three obturator materials showed too similar deformation and stresses distributions with small variation in values. The obturator …

A Systematic Review On Niosomes: Composition, Preparation, And Applications, Sanket Gawade Mr., Sunil Attimarad, Vishakha Desai Ms. Jan 2026

A Systematic Review On Niosomes: Composition, Preparation, And Applications, Sanket Gawade Mr., Sunil Attimarad, Vishakha Desai Ms.

Manipal Journal of Medical Sciences

Conventional drug carrier systems are restricted owing to poor bioavailability, weak stability and non-specific localization, which causes systemic toxicities and reduced therapeutic efficacy. Niosomes, one of the nonionic surfactant vesicular systems, have been suggested that value to overcome these constraints. In this review, we give an account of recent progress in niosome research, highlighting their merits, composition, characterization, and applications.

Niosomes offer several advantages including increased drug bioavailability, targeted delivery and reduced toxicity. Bilayered niosomes can entrap both hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs, therefore allowing simultaneous delivery of actives components. We provide an overview of various techniques for niosome preparation including …

Developing Provider Digital Twins For Personalized Provider-Patient Communication Via A Rag-Based Conversational Framework, Pengze Li, Yutong Hu, Jianfu Li, Garit Gemeinhardt, Fang Li, Muhammad Amith, Licong Cui, Antonio J Forte, Cui Tao

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Digital twins have emerged as a paradigm in precision and personalized medicine, enabling data-driven modeling of individuals to support tailored interventions. While most existing work focuses on patient-oriented twins, little attention has been given to modeling the provider’s role, particularly in clinical communication. In this study, we present GRACE (Generalized RAG-Enhanced Conversation Framework), a framework for constructing a provider digital twin (ProDT) that emulates key aspects of clinicians’ communicative and cognitive behavior. GRACE integrates three modules: a physician-informed dialog script generation and optimization module for provider-patterned conversation, a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline for factual grounding and timely knowledge updating, and …
