BACKGROUND: Cysteine-cysteine chemokine receptors 2 (CCR2) and 5 (CCR5) contribute to immune suppression in tumor microenvironments. CCR2 and CCR5 antagonists have demonstrated antitumor activity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and colorectal cancer (CRC), respectively. This phase 1b/2, open-label study evaluated BMS-813160, a CCR2/5 dual antagonist, in combination with chemotherapy±nivolumab in advanced PDAC or metastatic CRC.

Statement of problem: Indirect restorations may not fit the patient’s teeth, or they may require excessive adjustment. If multiple casts from the same impression are equivalent, dentists can use new pristine casts to determine if fit problems have a laboratory or clinical cause. If the problem is from the laboratory, it may be correctable on a pristine cast.

BACKGROUND: Hydromethylthionine mesylate (HMTM) targets tau pathology and has tau-independent symptomatic activity.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of HMTM in participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild to moderate dementia due to Alzheimer's disease (AD).

SETTING: 82 centres in Canada, European Union, United Kingdom and United States of America.

PARTICIPANTS: A total of 598 amyloid β-PET positive participants were included; 44% (263) met clinical criteria for MCI due to Alzheimer's disease and 56% (335) were diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia due to AD.

Per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent organic pollutants commonly used in non-stick, oil-resistant, and water-proof food packaging as well as textiles; they are detected in more than 99% of human serum. Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), one of the most ubiquitous PFAS, is associated with altered lipid metabolism, immunotoxicity, and neurodevelopmental disorders. These outcomes all implicate microglia, resident macrophages in the brain critical for development and sensitive to lipid signaling, as key mediators of toxicity. Few studies in East Asia have examined the association between the dietary inflammation potential and colorectal cancer incidence. Aromatase inhibitors are widely used in the treatment of hormone-sensitive breast cancer, but their suppression of estrogen production accelerates bone loss, increases fracture risk, and negatively impacts muscle and fat metabolism. Here, we demonstrate that daily low intensity vibration, serving as a non-drug mimetic for exercise, protects musculoskeletal health in skeletally immature, female mice under complete estrogen deprivation. Subsequent improvements in vertebral bone density are paralleled by greater and leaner skeletal muscle mass and function alongside reduced fat accretion and circulating metabolites. Quiescin sulfhydryl oxidase 1 (QSOX1) is a disulfide bond-forming enzyme with both disulfide isomerase and oxidoreductase activities. It plays an important role in protein folding, stability, and secretion. Growing evidence demonstrates that QSOX1 is upregulated in multiple cancer types and influences key behaviors of cancer cells, including proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis. Elevated QSOX1 expression is also associated with tumor malignancy and disease relapse. However, the molecular mechanisms by which QSOX1 drives cancer progression remain incompletely understood. Emerging therapies in sickle cell disease (SCD) aim to restore healthy red blood cell (RBC) function, but they often yield heterogeneous cellular responses. There are no proven techniques to evaluate restored rheological functionality and heterogeneity in these RBCs. We present a biomimetic microcapillary network, high-speed imaging, and computational algorithms to analyze RBC capillary velocity profiles of the entire sample population at single-cell resolution. Using peripheral RBCs from SCD patients and healthy donors, we showed that RBC capillary transit velocity correlated with cell shape, hydrodynamic adaptability, and elongation index. BACKGROUND: Quantitative coronary CT angiography plaque analysis (QCCTA) is a novel tool for atherosclerosis detection.

OBJECTIVES: The authors examined utilization of a health plan offering of QCCTA to diabetic members and the impact of utilization on health plan costs.

METHODS: Diabetic health plan members ≥40 years without prior myocardial infarction were offered QCCTA as a pilot benefit. Benefit utilizers were compared to eligible nonutilizers for incident cardiovascular episodes of care post-notification of eligibility.

The IpsiHand™ System is an FDA-authorized, non-invasive therapy for chronic stroke-induced upper limb motor impairment that uses a brain-computer interface (BCI) to translate intent-to-move signals into hand movement. This retrospective study evaluated real-world outcomes in stroke survivors ≥ 6 months post-stroke who were prescribed IpsiHand™ and completed regular Upper Extremity Fugl-Meyer (UEFM) assessments as part of routine care. An expanding body of research suggests that diet and nutrition may play an influential yet underrecognized role in problematic and criminal behaviors. This article synthesizes research linking excessive consumption of sugar and ultra-processed foods to adverse neurobehavioral outcomes, impaired impulse control, aggression, mood dysregulation, and sleep problems. Integrating research suggests that metabolic disruption, neuroinflammation, and gut–brain axis dysfunction may influence cognitive and emotional regulation. While criminal behavior is complex and multifactorial, this article emphasizes nutrition as a modifiable factor to inform forensic mental health practice, correctional policy, and rehabilitative strategies.

This paper evaluates employees’ knowledge, attitudes, practices, and workplace environment at North Refineries Company (Baiji). A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from September 10, 2024, to September 20, 2025, involving 480 employees (378 workers and 102 managers). Data were collected through face-to-face interviews and analysed using SPSS version 24. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) remain common complications following surgery, despite the availability of various prophylactic antiemetic agents. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of ondansetron and metoclopramide in preventing PONV in patients undergoing elective lower abdominal surgery under general anesthesia. In this double-blind, randomized controlled trial, 80 adult patients were equally allocated into two groups: one receiving 0.1 mg/kg of intravenous ondansetron and the other 0.2 mg/kg of intravenous metoclopramide at the end of surgery. BACKGROUND: In the assessment of coronary physiology, non-hyperemic pressure ratios (NHPRs) provide an alternative to fractional flow reserve (FFR) without the need for hyperemic agents, reducing procedural time, side effects, and costs. However, it remains unclear whether NHPRs have similar diagnostic performance in the different coronary arteries. This study evaluates the diagnostic performance of NHPRs compared with FFR, stratified by coronary artery, in stable patients with coronary artery disease.

We present a 40-year-old female who developed iatrogenic ptosis mimicking cranial nerve III palsy after undergoing a cosmetic treatment to treat periorbital hyperpigmentation. Within 48 hours of receiving what was believed to be tranexamic acid (TXA) injections, the patient developed isolated left ptosis and generalized headache. Stroke, cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and cranial nerve injury were among the differential diagnoses upon presentation. No insult to the central nervous system was found during the initial workup, which included neuroimaging.
