Purpose:  To evaluate the effectiveness of a nurse-led, family caregiver–integrated delirium prevention protocol in improving bCAM screening compliance and caregiver confidence among hospitalized older adults in an Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit.

Background; Delirium is a common but preventable complication in hospitalized older adults. Baseline assessments on the ACE Unit identified inconsistent bCAM screening and limited caregiver involvement. This quality improvement (QI) project aimed to improve early recognition through routine nurse screening and caregiver education to improve early delirium recognition and prevention.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this project was to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing an ICU-specific pressure injury prevention bundle (SKIN SAFE) Sto reduce hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) in an adult Surgical ICU.

BACKGROUND

HAPIs remain a major safety concern in critically ill patients. Standardized prevention bundles improve adherence and reduce incidence.

METHODOLOGY

This QI project in a 20-bed Surgical ICU used the PDSA framework to implement the eight-component SKINSAFE bundle. Strategies included staff education, champions, and weekly audits. Data were collected through EMR review, monthly PIP audits for HAPI incidence, and weekly compliance audits.

The purpose of this quality improvement project was to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of a mindfulness-based mobile application (Smiling Mind) to reduce perceived stress and emotional exhaustion among psychiatric nurses on an adolescent inpatient unit at a children’s hospital.

Psychiatric nurses experience high levels of stress and burnout, which threaten staff well-being, retention, and patient safety. Brief, app-based mindfulness practices may offer a low-burden strategy to support nurse wellness in high-acuity environments, but real-world uptake and impact are not well described.

Social media detoxification has emerged as a strategy for enhancing well-being. This study investigates the effects of social media detox on the psychological well-being and academic performance of students. A total of 361 medical students participated in this study. After obtaining formal consent, the participants completed a structured survey administered in a controlled setting. The survey included sections on demographics, patterns of social media use (e.g., time spent, platforms accessed, and primary motivations), and standardized psychological assessment scales. There is a sharp increase in anxiety and depression symptoms in adolescence, and many forms of psychotherapy are shown to be effective. However, most research has examined average effects for manualized treatments that address multiple areas of functioning, which makes it difficult to determine how psychotherapy causes positive change. Process-based therapy postulates that all psychotherapies work through promoting adaptive biopsychosocial patterns of behavior (i.e., processes of change). Purpose: To improve colorectal cancer (CRC) screening completion rates among eligible patients at a primary care clinic, located in Houston, Texas, by optimizing the medical assistant (MA) workflow and addressing systemic and patient-level barriers.

Background: The project site is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides comprehensive and inclusive care to diverse and underserved populations, including those with low income, living with HIV/AIDS, experiencing homelessness, and uninsured. The current study examined the impact of an Armenian textile arts workshop on cultural identity among members of the Armenian diaspora in the Bay Area of California (n = 25). This thesis reasons that spiritual-soul care is, at times, an ethically necessary dimension of mental health care for many individuals yet remains underdeveloped within the field. In response, this research aims to articulate a foundational, non-dogmatic “baseline” language that is simple and accessible, while remaining nuanced enough to capture the depth and essence of spiritual-soul care. This study proposes a culturally flexible approach for individuals who identify outside of traditional religious frameworks. This multidimensional model includes three domains—the self, spirit-soul, and the transpersonal levels—each contributing to wellbeing through developmental themes.

Hospital readmissions are a persistent quality and cost burden to the healthcare system, prompting evaluation of modern strategies to strengthen transitional care. This integrative review synthesized findings from thirteen studies published between 2011 and 2025 to assess the effectiveness of virtual discharge interventions in reducing readmission rates among adult patients. Virtual discharge interventions included programs utilizing technology, such as phone calls, video visits, apps, or remote monitoring, to help patients understand their care and improve positive outcomes. Strains of Limosilactobacillus reuteri have been used to prevent or treat various conditions; however, the mechanisms by which they exert beneficial effects are not completely understood. Infant colic is one example in which L. reuteri DSM 17938 reduces clinical symptoms. While the etiology of colic is unknown, abnormal melatonin levels in infants have been suggested as a possible contributor. L. reuteri DSM 17938 has been shown to produce adenosine from AMP via production of the extracellular enzyme 5′ectonucleotidase (5′NT). Steroid receptor coactivator 3 (SRC-3) is highly expressed in regulatory T cells (Tregs) and is important for their immunosuppressive activity. Recently, we demonstrated that disrupting SRC-3 expression in Tregs eliminates triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and prostate cancer in syngeneic animal models by generating an anti-tumor immune microenvironment without inducing immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Many professional organizations publish clinical practice guidelines for the use of probiotics in gastrointestinal disorders. Generally, no two guidelines align perfectly, and some differ markedly. These discrepancies occur because clinical practice guidelines are not purely mechanical outputs of data synthesis. They are shaped by structured interpretation, value judgments, and predefined thresholds for uncertainty. These elements become particularly visible when effect sizes are small, heterogeneity is high, and outcomes vary in clinical relevance-as is the case with probiotic research. Background: Dietary management is key to preventing and controlling type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, few studies have examined differences in Healthy Eating Index (HEI-2020) scores and components among individuals with and without diagnosed T2DM. This study aimed to assess gender differences in HEI-2020 scores and its 13 components by T2DM status. Methods: Using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 2011 to 2018, this cross-sectional study analyzed 19,464 adults. Background: AI-generated content is being used across the education spectrum and is beneficial for creating complex multiple-choice questions, such as those used in medical education. However, evaluating AI-generated content is challenging, and existing testing and evaluation methods are falling short. This study uses randomization to compare medical students' performance on and subjective evaluation of AI versus expert-generated questions.
