Abstract: Hurricanes often cause incalculable human and economic losses, and the trajectory outlier detection can provide the auxiliary information or abnormal warning of the disaster. On deep learning, a method of hurricane trajectory outlier detection based on variable auto encoder (VAEOD) is proposed in this paper. The trajectory is divided into equal sequence sub trajectories based on the sliding window as the input of VAE. The trajectory reconstruction model is trained by the VAE. Abstract: High-density space launching tasks need the new requirements for space-launching mission rehearsal. The new concept of space-launching mission simulated rehearsal is proposed, the definition and content are presented in detail,and the technology research objective and key works are analyzed. The technology implementation architecture is established on five dimensions of the domain resources, developing tools, simulation modeling, fundamental function design and domain application. On the basis of simulation, the working process is given, the simulation software architecture is designed, and the simulation application tool is developed. The simulation results are also given, which validate the method and technology.

Abstract: Aiming at the classification of flight delay under imbalance data, a novel method based on nonlinear weighted XGBoost (extreme gradient boosting) is proposed. The imbalance of flight delay data and the influence for classification performance caused by the data imbalance are analyzed. A heuristic nonlinear weighting method based on sample proportion is proposed, and the negative log likelihood loss function is optimized. The real flight delay dataset is used to validate the performance of the classification algorithm. Chagas’ disease (also known as American trypanosomiasis) and leishmaniasis are two major classes of NTDs. Recently, there is a growing interest in applying Transfer Entropy (TE) in quantifying the effective connectivity between artificial neurons. In a feedforward network, the TE can be used to quantify the relationships between neuron output pairs located in different layers. Our focus is on how to include the TE in the learning mechanisms of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture. We introduce a novel training mechanism for CNN architectures which integrates the TE feedback connections. Adding the TE feedback parameter accelerates the training process, as fewer epochs are needed. On the flip side, it adds computational overhead to each epoch. …

Background: The use of blood biomarkers after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has been widely studied. We have identified eight unresolved issues related to the use of five commonly investigated blood biomarkers: neurofilament light chain, ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolase-L1, tau, S100B, and glial acidic fibrillary protein. We conducted a focused literature review of unresolved issues in three areas: mode of entry into and exit from the blood, kinetics of blood biomarkers in the blood, and predictive capacity of the blood biomarkers after mTBI.

The fields of machine learning (ML) and cognitive science have developed complementary approaches to computationally modeling human behavior. ML's primary concern is maximizing prediction accuracy; cognitive science's primary concern is explaining the underlying mechanisms. Cross-talk between these disciplines is limited, likely because the tasks and goals usually differ. Anthropogenic climate change has resulted in warming temperatures and reduced oxygen concentrations in the global oceans. Much remains unknown on the impacts of reduced oxygen concentrations on the biology and distribution of marine fishes. In the Southern California Channel Islands, visual fish surveys were conducted frequently in a manned submersible at three rocky reefs between 1995 and 2009. This area is characterized by a steep bathymetric gradient, with the surveyed sites Anacapa Passage, Footprint and Piggy Bank corresponding to depths near 50, 150 and 300 m. infer implements an expressive grammar to perform statistical inference that adheres to the tidyverse design framework (Wickham et al., 2019). Rather than providing methods for specific statistical tests, this package consolidates the principles that are shared among common hypothesis tests and confidence intervals into a set of four main verbs (functions), supplemented with many utilities to visualize and extract value from their outputs.

The HD molecule is an important coolant in early universe chemistry models and a tracer of H2 in star-forming regions. Rate coefficients for collisional excitation and de-excitation of HD rotational and vibrational levels form important ingredients in astrophysical models. While collisions with He, H2, and H are the most important, available data for H + HD collisions are largely limited to temperatures less than 1000 K for the vibrational ground state, low-lying rotational levels of the v = 1 HD vibrational level, or computed without reactive contributions. We characterize commutative idempotent involutive residuated lattices as disjoint unions of Boolean algebras arranged over a distributive lattice. We use this description to introduce a new construction, called gluing, that allows us to build new members of this variety from other ones. In particular, all finite members can be constructed in this way from Boolean algebras. Finally, we apply our construction to prove that the fusion reduct of any finite member is a distributive semilattice, and to show that this variety is not locally finite.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the transition of many offices to remote work has led to new ways for employers to track workers’ movements, behavior, and productivity. Through their SSRC-funded research, Jessica Vitak and Michael Zimmer surveyed remote workers in the US about perceptions of current workplace monitoring practices. They argue that worker concerns about reductions in privacy and independence at work might have negative outcomes on worker productivity, satisfaction, and well-being.

Ammonia losses by volatilization from five rates of urea or ammonium nitrate surfaceapplied to coastcross pasture, grown on a dark red latosol (Hapludox) in São Carlos, SP, Brazil, under tropical altitude climate, were measured. Volatilized ammonia was absorbed in traps placed on soil surface. The mean losses from urea applied after five successive cuttings of the grass were 15, 24, 34, and 40% for N rates of 25, 50, 100 and 200 kg N ha-1 per cutting, respectively.

The objectives are to study the effects of N and P supply and their interaction, on herbage dry matter yield and nutrient status of three tropical grasses. In order to estimate direct and indirect effects of P supply we express above-ground dry matter production as a function of the herbage nutrient status obtained from plant analysis. Results show that in absence of N, the significant increase in P nutrition status has only moderate consequences on herbage production and suggest that both N and P are limitant for herbage growth. In barometric caves, air pressure gradients between the outside atmosphere and the cave induce strong bidirectional compensating currents, which control almost all elements of speleoclimatology, including air temperature, humidity, and CO2 dynamics. Therefore, this study set out to investigate air pressure propagation through Wind Cave and Jewel Cave – two major barometric cave systems in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. A glasshouse experiment was conducted to examine mineral acquisition and utilization strategies of Brachiaria decumbens (BD), Brachiaria brizantha (BB) and Panicum maximum (PM). The plants were grown under nine treatments resulted from the combination of three levels of phosphorus (0, 25 and 50 kgP/ha) and three levels of nitrogen (25, 150 and 300 kgN/ha). BD showed the lowest value of root weight and root length per pot, but the highest efficiency of P and N uptake (P and N uptake mg / unit root weight g). The effects of phosphorus sources (triple superphosphate – TSP, single superphosphate – SSP and partially acidulated rock phosphate – PARP) and rates (0, 50 and 100 kg/ha of P2O5 on dry matter (DM) yields and chemical composition of a degraded Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu pasture were evaluated in a cutting trial. Phosphorus fertilization, irrespective of sources and rates, showed an effective agronomic technique for pasture recuperation. Snow-water storage is decreasing, while forest fires are increasing in duration, size, frequency, and intensity, due to climate change. Most forest fires occur in the seasonal snow zone, altering snow mass and energy balance for many years following fire. Following forest fires, Surface snow albedo (SSA) decreases, as light absorbing particles (LAP), particularly black carbon (BC) produced in forest fires get deposited throughout the snowpack, altering snowpack energy balance driving earlier snowmelt in burned forests. The Wide Field-of-View Cherenkov Telescope Array (WFCTA) and the Water Cherenkov Detector Array (WCDA) of LHAASO are designed to work in combination for measuring the energy spectra of the cosmic ray species over a very wide energy range from a few TeV to 10 PeV. The energy calibration can be achieved with a proven technique of measuring the westward shift of the Moon shadow cast by galactic cosmic rays due to the geomagnetic field. This deflection angle Δ is inversely proportional to the cosmic ray rigidity. The precise measurement of the shifts by WCDA allows us to calibrate its energy …
