Background Geologic CO2 sequestration in basalts has attracted wide attention in recent years owing to its safe, stable, and efficient CO2 trapping mechanisms.Methods Focusing on basalts in the Longtan Formation within western Guizhou Province, China, this study simulated the CO2-water-basalt geochemical reactions under varying temperatures, pressures, and times. Through tests and comparison of mineralogy, geochemistry, and reservoir physical properties before and after the reactions, this study investigated the factors influencing the reactions and elucidated the post-reaction co-evolution mechanism between minerals and pores. Objective and Method Alkali and alkaline earth metals (AAEMs) in coals adversely affect coal processing and utilization. Among the AAEMs, water-soluble and mineral-hosted metals can be largely removed through water washing, flotation, and heavy liquid separation, while organically-bound AAEMs are difficult to eliminate. Objective Under intense mining in deep parts of coal mines, the roadway support systems are significantly affected by both far- and near-field dynamic loads, accompanied by the strong deformations of the surrounding rocks. Therefore, investigating the failure mechanisms of anchorage bodies under dynamic loading becomes particularly important. Methods Using the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test system and digital image correlation (DIC) technology, the study investigated the mechanical response characteristics of the anchorage bodies under different impact air pressures. Objective and Method To determine the boundary detection capability of logging-while-drilling (LWD) electromagnetic azimuthal measurements for high-resistivity coal mines, this study simulated geosignal responses under varying operating frequencies, transmitter-receiver coil spacing conditions, and formation resistivity values. Then, key parameters for boundary detection for high-resistivity coal seams were optimized. Accordingly, this study proposed design schemes for LWD instruments with short (< 80 inches) and long (approximately 240 inches) transmitter-receiver coil spacing for short-distance (2.032 m) and long-distance (6.096 m) detection, respectively. Results and Conclusions LWD electromagnetic azimuthal measurements exhibit a significantly decreased depth of detection (DOD) in high-resistivity coal seams compared to that in low-resistivity hydrocarbon reservoirs. Objective and Method Densely distributed sub-seismic faults have emerged as a major hidden disaster-causing geological factor, heavily influencing both the production efficiency and operational safety of coal mines. To achieve precise advance detection of underground sub-seismic faults in coal mines, this study designed a geological model. Using seismic-while-tunneling (SWT) advance detection technology for roadways of coal mines, this study investigated the geological situation of sub-seismic faults through forward modeling.
