The electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable chemicals is a feasible way to mitigate the negative impacts of overmuch CO2 emissions. Porphyrin-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are expected to be used for selective and efficient electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) with porous structure and ordered active sites. Herein, we report the synthesis of a monodispersed and spherical organic/inorganic hybrid Cu-TCPP@Cu2O electrocatalyst composed of Cu-TCPP (TCPP=tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin) and Cu2O, where TCPP plays significant roles in regulating the morphology. In this work, the long-term stability and degradation mechanism of a direct internal-reforming solid oxide fuel cell stack (IR-SOFC stack) using hydrogen-blended methane steam reforming were investigated. An overall degradation rate of 2.3%·kh–1 was found after the stack was operated for 3000 hours, indicating a good long-term stability. However, the voltages of the two cells in the stack were increased at the rates of 3.38 mV·kh–1 and 3.78 mV·kh–1, while the area specific resistances of the three metal interconnects in the stack were increased to 0.276 Ω·cm2, 0.254 Ω·cm2 and 0.249 Ω·cm2 …

The smallpox and poliomyelitis (polio) viruses were, at a time, one of the largest threats to global public health killing millions until global eradication campaigns were put into effect. Vaccination led to the eradication of smallpox and the elimination of polio for most of the world. However, polio continues to persist at endemic levels in Pakistan and Afghanistan. We developed ODE models of smallpox and polio to explore differences in transmission dynamics and determine if the underlying biology has made poliomyelitis more difficult to eradicate. Generalized splines are an algebraic combinatorial framework that generalizes and unifies various established concepts across different fields, most notably the classical notion of splines and the topological notion of GKM theory. Reconstituted cytoskeleton composites have emerged as a valuable model system for studying non-equilibrium soft matter. The faithful capture of the dynamics of these 3D, dense networks calls for optical sectioning, which is often associated with fluorescence confocal microscopes. However, recent developments in light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) have established it as a cost-effective and, at times, superior alternative. To make LSFM accessible to cytoskeleton researchers less familiar with optics, we present a step-by-step beginner's guide to building a versatile light-sheet fluorescence microscope from off-the-shelf components. . In this paper, Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodules are defined as generalization of ⊕-supplemented semimodules. Let R be a semiring. An R-semimodule A is called a Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodule, if each subsemimodule of A has a Rad-supplement which is a direct summand of A. Here, we investigate some properties of these semimodules and generalize some results on Rad-⊕-supplemented modules to semimodules. We prove that any finite direct sum of Rad-⊕-supplemented semimodules is Rad-⊕-supplemented. Sinters of geothermal system are usually dominated by travertine and siliceous sinter. With rich information on multi-temporal and spatial scales, they can be used to restore paleohydrological and paleoclimatic histories, reconstruct the evolutionary process of regional hydrothermal activity, and constrain tectonic modes. Accurate dating of sinters is the basis of relevant researches. Common dating methods include radiocarbon dating (based on inorganic and organic carbon), uranium series disequilibrium dating, cosmogenic nuclide dating, optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating, and electron spin resonance dating. The Qikou Sag in the Huanghua Depression, Bohai Bay Basin boasts extremely abundant geothermal resources. Among them, the geothermal reservoirs of the Neogene Guantao Formation have the greatest potential for exploitation. To ascertain the properties of geothermal resources in this formation and rationally exploit these resources, it is significant to investigate the geothermal field, porosity, permeability, geothermal water circulation patterns, and genetic mode of geothermal reservoirs in the formation. We developed spatiotemporal landslide hazard maps (LHMs) using soil, hydrologic, and geomorphic parameters from the subaerial infinite slope factor of safety (FS) equation under unsaturated conditions. Soil properties were extracted from the NRCS WSS, while geomorphic variables were derived from a 1.5 m LiDAR-based DEM and ArcGIS Online. Soil moisture from Hydrus-1D, driven by precipitation and evapotranspiration (ET) data from Irrigation Manager, introduced temporal variability. Validation against known landslide sites showed spatial and temporal FS accuracy despite some false positives. Meixian County in the piedmont of the Qinling Mountains boasts abundant geothermal water resources with high-abundance associated helium gas. However, the characteristics and origin of geothermal fluids in the study area are yet to be studied. By analyzing the chemical composition and isotopic geochemistry of geothermal fluids and combining the distributions of regional structures and faults, this study delved into the characteristics and genetic mechanisms of geothermal fluids in the study area. The hydrochemistry and genesis mechanism of thermal springs hold great significance for the exploitation and utilization of low to intermediate temperature geothermal resources. Under the influence of a concealed fault zone, thermal springs in the Luolou River basin, Yunnan Province, are distributed along both sides of valleys and exposed in Quaternary loose deposits and Permian basalt strata. Deep geothermal water, a type of clean and low-carbon renewable energy, plays a significant role in achieving the goals of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality. However, its irrational exploitation will lead to many problems such as decreased water quantity, lowered water level, and low engineering benefits. Based on the available exploration data of geothermal wells in the urban area of Kaifeng City, Henan Province, this study constructed a hydrogeological model used to characterize the migration of geothermal water and a corresponding mathematical model, which was identified and verified using the Galerkin finite element method. With increasing number of people living with dementia, the problem of late diagnosis significantly impacts a person's quality of life while early signs of dementia may provide useful insights to facilitate better treatment plans. With time, this progressive neurodegenerative syndrome could progress from mild cognitive impairment to dementia. A pattern of health conditions can be characterized in unsupervised manner to help predict this progress. As a significant extension to our previous work with streaming clustering model, we consider additional information for predicting dementia onset. With empirical observations, we discover the importance of examining sex and age to predict dementia onset. …

With the recent radioastronomical detection of cis-trans-carbonic acid (H2CO3) in a molecular cloud toward the Galactic center, the more stable but currently unobserved cis-cis conformer is shown here to have strong IR features. While the higher-energy cis-trans-carbonic acid was detected at millimeter and centimeter wavelengths, owing to its larger dipole moment, the vibrational structure of cis-cis-carbonic acid is more amenable to its observation at micron wavelengths. Even so, both conformers have relatively large IR intensities, and some of these fall in regions not dominated by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Water features may inhibit observation …
