Incremental Image Dehazing Algorithm Based On Multiple Transfer Attention, Jinyang Wei, Keping Wang, Yi Yang, Shumin Fei
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In order to improve the processing ability of the depth-neural network dehazing algorithm to the supplementary data set, and to make the network differently process the image features of different importance to improve the dehazing ability of the network, an incremental dehazing algorithm based on multiple migration of attention is proposed. The teacher's attention generation network in the form of Encoder-Decoder extracts the multiple attention of labels and haze, which is used it as the label of the characteristic migration media network to constrain the network training to form the migration media attention as close as possible to the …
A New Effective Gravitational Lensing Approach To Constrain Dark Matter, Birendra Dhanasingham
A New Effective Gravitational Lensing Approach To Constrain Dark Matter, Birendra Dhanasingham
Physics & Astronomy ETDs
Galaxy-scale strong gravitational lenses offer a unique window into understanding the nature and distribution of dark matter at sub-galactic scales. Beyond the main-lens subhalos, the inclusion of line-of-sight dark matter halos has become essential in lens studies due to their substantial role in perturbing lensed images, making multi-plane lensing a crucial aspect of any lens study. We highlight that these line-of-sight halos appear extended tangentially along the lensing critical line in the effective convergence maps due to the nonlinear nature of multiplane lensing, resulting in a characteristic anisotropic signature in the deflection field. Leveraging tools from large-scale structure analyses, this …

Path Planning Rapid Algorithm Based On Modified Rrt* For Unmanned Surface Vessel, Zhaozhen Jiang, Wenlong Wang, Wenqi Sun
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Aiming at the weak purposiveness of rapidly exploring random tree algorithm in USV path planning, a modified rapid algorithm is proposed. The artificial potential field method is improved and the force analysis in four directions is added to comprehensively calculate the resultant force on USV. The calculation method of steering angle is redefined to avoid entering the local optimal trap and can reach the target point smoothly to obtain an initial path. The initial path is used to set the random point sampling area of rapidly exploring random tree algorithm. By reducing the probability of random points generated in …
On Properties Of Pair Operations, Sarah Jane Poiani
On Properties Of Pair Operations, Sarah Jane Poiani
Mathematics & Statistics ETDs
For any closure operation $\cl$ and interior operation $\ri$ on a class of $R$-modules, we develop the theory of $\cl$-prereductions and $\ri$-postexpansions. A pair operation is a generalization of closure and interior operations. Using Epstein, R.G. and Vassilev's duality \cite{ERGV-nonres}, we show that these notions are in fact dual to each other. We discuss the relationship between the core and hull and prereductions and postexpansions. We further the thematic notion of duality and seek to understand how it arises in the context of properties pair operations can be endowed with and focus on inner product spaces and properties demonstrated by …

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
Blockchain systems have been successful in discerning truthful information from interagent interaction amidst possible attackers or conflicts, which is crucial for the completion of nontrivial tasks in distributed networking. However, the state-of-the-art blockchain protocols are limited to resource-rich applications where reliably connected nodes within the network are equipped with significant computing power to run lottery-based proof-of-work (pow) consensus. The purpose of this work is to address these challenges for implementation in a severely resource-constrained distributed network with internet of things (iot) devices. The contribution of this work is a novel lightweight alternative, called weight-based reputation (wbr) scheme, to classify new …

Mixed-Variable Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Based On Competitive Coevolution, Hu Zhang, Heng Zhang, Zilu Huang, Zhe Wang, Qingpo Fu, Jin Peng, Feng Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For the current algorithm, it is difficult to obtain the available solution due to the irregularity of problem decision space caused by the numerous mixed variable optimization problems during real industrial applications. The coevolution strategy is introduced and a mixed variable particle swarm optimization algorithm(CCPSO) based on competitive coevolution is proposed. The search direction adjustment mechanism based on tolerance is designed to judge the evolution state of particles, adaptively adjust the search direction of particles, avoid falling into local optimum, and balance the convergence and diversity of the population. The learning object generation mechanism is adopted for each particle …

Handling Constrained Multi-Objective Optimization Problems Based On Relationship Between Pareto Fronts, Yubo Wang, Chengyu Hu, Wenyin Gong
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: To address the challenges of balancing the constraint satisfaction and objective function optimization, and dealing with the complex feasible regions in constrained multi-objective optimization problems(CMOPs), a classification-based search approach is proposed based on different Pareto front relationships. A dual-population dual-phase framework is proposed in which an auxiliary population Pa and a main population Pm are evolved and the evolution process is divided into a learning phase and a search phase. During the learning phase, Pa explores unconstrained Pareto front (UPF) and Pm explores constrained Pareto front(CPF), through which the relationship between UPF and CPF is determined. After completing the …

Element Grouping Faceted Fully Connected Network Based On Ris, Shunhu Hou, Shengliang Fang, Qingyao Zeng, Mengtao Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In view of the over-fitting problem that caused by multiple parameters and high memory usage of the full connection layer of neural network in training, a RIS-based element grouping areal fully connected neural network (RGFCNN) is proposed for the first time based on the structural characteristics of reconfigurable intelligence surface (RIS). Based on the structural characteristics of RIS, the network is optimized on traditional FCNN. A novel transmission surface attention mechanism is designed for the effective feature extraction of data. Compared with the traditional FCNNs, the proposed network does not arrange the data in one-dimensional manner. Instead, a element …

It aims to solve the problem that the evacuation state of pedestrians depicted by the traditional social force model in a crowded multiexit scenario has a relatively large difference with the actual state, especially the 'optimal path' considered by the self-driving force is the problem of shortest path, and the multiexit evacuation mode depicted by the 'herd behavior' is the local optimum problem. Through in-depth analysis of actual evacuation data of pedestrians and causes of problem, a new crowd evacuation optimization model is established in order to effectively improve the simulation accuracy of crowd evacuation in a multi-exit environment. The …

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
Using 𝑞-calculus we study a family of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces which interpolate between the Hardy space and the Fock space. We give characterizations of these spaces in terms of classical operators such as integration and backward-shift operators, and their 𝑞-calculus counterparts. Furthermore, these new spaces allow us to study intertwining operators between classic backward-shift operators and the q-Jackson derivative.

Time-Scale Of Groundwater Recharge In Coastal Plain Soils, Qing Du
Time-Scale Of Groundwater Recharge In Coastal Plain Soils, Qing Du
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Understanding and modeling the timing and magnitude of groundwater recharge fromrainfall infiltration through vadose zone percolation is important for many reasons but especially because the flux is being acted on by root zone evapotranspiration (ET) and very little of rainfall infiltration ever becomes water table recharge. This study elaborates on the considerable time of the wetting front arrival and ultimate bulk recharge of rainfall infiltration in shallow water table fine-sandy soils typical of coastal plain environments such as Florida. Calibrated Hydrus-1D modeling of Florida (Myakka) soil was evaluated at varying depths of water table and hydraulic conductivities to bracket the …

Using Ai Chatbots As Ideation Machines, Brett Hawley, Naomi Hollans
Student Works
The team analyzed 3 popular chatbots and found that none of them could consistently produce idea-centered essay help responses. The team approached them with 3 separate prompts, one from each of three academic subjects. The team analyzed how each chatbot adapted to the addition of personal information from the “student” and to the phrase, “what are some ideas that could help me get started?” The goal with each interaction was to receive a response in which the chatbot did not produce any pre-written content. Overall, the team’s research did not suggest that AI is fully reliable as an ideation tool.

Astronomers are often asked to help identify UFOs. It's a reasonable request since the term means "unidentified flying object." An untrained observer may not know which celestial objects are visible at night, even in light-polluted skies. They may mistake a plane for a planet, a bright star, or a satellite.

A Biocompatible Hybrid Approach For The Selection Of Gas Drainage Methods In Coal Mines Based On The Best-Worst Method And Analytic Network Process, Amir Jafarpour, Mehdi Najafi, Ali Dabagh
Journal of Sustainable Mining
Methane drainage is one of the main steps in underground coal mining projects. The operation of methane extraction from coal mines/seams is important from the safety, economic, and technical points of view. Selecting the appropriate method for methane drainage is very difficult, and if the method is not chosen correctly, it will lead to environmental problems. The relationship between different influencing factors, parameters, and methods (and how they affect) is significant in choosing the method of gas drainage. In the current study, a hybrid algorithm is presented based on an Analytic Network Process (ANP) and a method based on the …

Since the introduction of transformers, large language models have proven capable in many natural language processing fields. However, existing systems still face challenges in generating high-quality extractive questions. Base models and public chatbots fall short if the question source or quantity are critical. Our contribution is a question and answer generator for generating comprehensive, extractive questions and answers. This approach includes fine-tuning a LLaMA 2 base model for answer extraction (AE) and question generation (QG). We evaluate the resulting system using common automated metrics and a manual evaluation. We find that our system is comparable to the latest research and …
