Retrieval-augmented language models have exhibited promising performance across various areas of natural language processing (NLP), including fact-critical tasks. However, due to the black-box nature of advanced large language models (LLMs) and the non-retrieval-oriented supervision signal of specific tasks, the training of retrieval model faces significant challenges under the setting of black-box LLM. We propose an approach leveraging Fine-grained Feedback with Reinforcement Retrieval (FFRR) to enhance fact-checking on news claims by using black-box LLM. Recent studies in using deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to solve Job-shop scheduling problems (JSSP) focus on construction heuristics. However, their performance is still far from optimality, mainly because the underlying graph representation scheme is unsuitable for modelling partial solutions at each construction step. This paper proposes a novel DRL-guided improvement heuristic for solving JSSP, where graph representation is employed to encode complete solutions. We consider the problem of finding second-order stationary points in the optimization of heterogeneous federated learning (FL). Previous works in FL mostly focus on first-order convergence guarantees, which do not rule out the scenario of unstable saddle points. Meanwhile, it is a key bottleneck of FL to achieve communication efficiency without compensating the learning accuracy, especially when local data are highly heterogeneous across different clients. Given this, we propose a novel algorithm PowerEF-SGD that only communicates compressed information via a novel error-feedback scheme. As an advanced one-to-many public key encryption system, attribute-based encryption (ABE) is widely believed to be a promising technology for achieving flexible and fine-grained access control of encrypted data on untrusted storage servers (e.g., public cloud servers). The study of uncertain graphs is crucial in diverse fields, including but not limited to protein interaction analysis, viral marketing, and network reliability. Processing queries on uncertain graphs presents formidable challenges due to the vast probabilistic space they encapsulate. This paper introduces a method to explain MADRL agents’ behaviors by abstracting their actions into high-level strategies. Particularly, a spatio-temporal neural network model is applied to encode the agents’ sequences of actions as memory episodes wherein an aggregating memory retrieval can generalize them into a concise abstract representation of collective strategies. To assess the effectiveness of our method, we applied it to explain the actions of QMIX MADRL agents playing a StarCraft Multi-agent Challenge (SMAC) video game. Current MARL benchmarks fall short in simulating realistic scenarios, particularly those involving long action sequences with sequential tasks and multiple conflicting objectives. Addressing this gap, we introduce Multi-Objective SMAC (MOSMAC), a novel MARL benchmark tailored to assess MARL methods on tasks with varying time horizons and multiple objectives. Each MOSMAC task contains one or multiple sequential subtasks. Agents are required to simultaneously balance between two objectives - combat and navigation - to successfully complete each subtask. Our evaluation of nine state-of-the-art MARL algorithms reveals that MOSMAC presents substantial challenges to many state-of-the-art MARL methods and effectively fills a critical gap …

The Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS) algorithm has shown considerable success in solving combinatorial optimization problems (COPs). Nonetheless, the performance of ALNS relies on the proper configuration of its selection and acceptance parameters, which is known to be a complex and resource-intensive task. To address this, we introduce a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) based approach called DR-ALNS that selects operators, adjusts parameters, and controls the acceptance criterion throughout the search. We formulate the problem of optimizing an agent's policy within the Markov decision process (MDP) model as a difference-of-convex functions (DC) program. The DC perspective enables optimizing the policy iteratively where each iteration constructs an easier-to-optimize lower bound on the value function using the well known concave-convex procedure. We show that several popular policy gradient based deep RL algorithms (both for discrete and continuous state, action spaces, and stochastic/deterministic policies) such as actor-critic, deterministic policy gradient (DPG), and soft actor critic (SAC) can be derived from the DC perspective. In this study, two different methods are used to investigate carbon black as a cold field electron emitter. The first method is to incorporate carbon black into a specially designed insulated copper hollowed wire. The wire has a cup-shaped structure created by electrochemical etching. Most philosophers of science do philosophy ‘on’ science. By contrast, others do philosophy ‘in’ science (PinS), that is, they use philosophical tools to address scientific problems and to provide scientifically useful proposals. Here, we consider the evidence in favour of a trend of this nature. We proceed in two stages. The feasibility of utilizing the mud solid waste (MSW) produced during the carbonation process of sugar refining as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative for the water removal of methylene blue (MB) and Congo red (CR), being highly utilized organic dyes representing cationic and anionic species, respectively is presented. Prior to its use, the MSW was dried at 110 °C for 24 h and sieved through a 100-mesh screen. The atmosphere’s surface layer (first 50–100 m above the ground) is extremely dynamic and is influenced by surface radiative properties, roughness, and atmospheric stability. Understanding the distribution of turbulence in the surface layer is critical to many applications, such as directed energy and free space optical communications. Several measurement campaigns in the past have relied on weather balloons or sonic detection and ranging (SODAR) to measure turbulence up to the atmospheric boundary layer. This study aims to develop a comprehensive framework for inference theory in time series, with a focus on change-point detection and online learning. First, we introduce an $\ell^2$-based inference approach for multiple change-point detection in high-dimensional time series, which targets dense or spatially clustered signals by a novel Two-Way MOSUM (moving sum) test statistic. We derive the limiting distribution of this $\ell^2$-aggregated statistic by extending the high-dimensional Gaussian approximation to non-stationary spatial-temporal processes. It is difficult to plug the fracture water channeling of a fractured low-permeability reservoir during water flooding by using the conventional acrylamide polymer gel due to its weak mechanical properties. For this problem, micron graphite powder is added to enhance the comprehensive properties of the acrylamide polymer gel, which can improve the plugging effect of fracture water channeling. Understanding geological structures is important in mineral exploration. Delineating subsurface geological structures, structural intersections, and complexities of potential geological settings for the formation of hydrothermal mineral deposits, such as gold requires using magnetic data, particularly, high-resolution aeromagnetic data. To define possible targets for mineral exploration, this study used linear detection and the Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) techniques on high-resolution aeromagnetic data for structural delineation and interpretation. The study's conclusions indicate that the majority of geological features, such as faults, shears, fault intersections, and fracture systems, trend NE-SW, N-S, and occasionally NW-SE. Accurate estimation of the blue and green water requirements of the various crops cultivated in a water basin is essential for planning specific plant/crop irrigation schedules. In this study, the crop water requirements of the major crops grown in the Wami/Ruvu basin were determined using the FAO-CROPWAT model based on meteorological parameters: monthly maximum and minimum temperature, wind speed, mean relative humidity, sunshine hours, rainfall data, and effective rainfall for 23 hydro-meteorological stations distributed in the study area.
