A Govsecops-Oriented Governance, Risk, And Compliance Platform For Continuous Authorization In Dod Il4/Il5 Environments, Anand Janjal
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 and Impact Level 5 (IL4/IL5) systems require continuous assurance of cybersecurity posture under stringent operational and regulatory constraints. While the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoD DevSecOps guidance emphasize continuous authorization supported by real-time evidence, many existing Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms remain documentation-centric and insufficiently integrated with operational telemetry. This paper presents a GovSecOps-oriented GRC architecture that integrates vulnerability ingestion, automated Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) lifecycle management, dynamic risk scoring, and continuous authorization dashboards within IL4/IL5 environments. Using a Design Science Research methodology, the study develops and evaluates …
Mining And Sustainable Development In Sierra Leone: The Role Of Institutional Quality, Ibrahim Massaquoi
Mining And Sustainable Development In Sierra Leone: The Role Of Institutional Quality, Ibrahim Massaquoi
Journal of Sustainable Mining
While mining can drive economic growth, create jobs, and promote infrastructural development, it also poses risks to the environment, human health, and social well-being. Therefore, to achieve sustainable development, responsible mining is crucial. This study empirically examines the role of institutional quality in the mining-sustainable development nexus in Sierra Leone. With the use of the planetary pressures-adjusted human development index (PHDI) as a comprehensive measure of sustainable development, the study is able to integrate economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model confirms the existence of both short-run and long-run dynamics. The results of the study show …
Distributed Self-Control Of Dynamical Networks By Adaptive Link Weight Adjustments, Hiroki Sayama
Distributed Self-Control Of Dynamical Networks By Adaptive Link Weight Adjustments, Hiroki Sayama
Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)
Conventional control theory considers controlling the behavior of a dynamical system toward a desired state by injecting externally designed inputs into the system. Meanwhile, most complex systems exhibit self-organization through local information exchanges among individual dynamical components that are embedded within a complex network of interactions. The self-organizing dynamics of those systems are realized in a highly distributed manner using locally available information only, and therefore, their behaviors have not been discussed much from a control theoretic viewpoint. Meanwhile, adaptive networks, i.e., dynamical networks whose states and topologies coevolve at similar time scales, can offer a promising theoretical framework in …

Effects Of Coulomb Collisions On The Structures Of Fast Magnetosonic Shocks, Bo Farnell
Effects Of Coulomb Collisions On The Structures Of Fast Magnetosonic Shocks, Bo Farnell
Physics and Astronomy Undergraduate Senior Theses
We present fully kinetic particle-in-cell simulations demonstrating qualitative effects of binary Coulomb collisions on fast magnetosonic shocks. We find that with a sufficiently high collisional frequency, shock rippling and reformation can be inhibited, creating stationary, laminar shocks. We see that collisions rapidly bring the reflected population into equilibrium with the upstream population, adding credibility to existing theories that the separation of these two populations create these dynamical behaviors around the shock transition region. We also see that Ohmic heating from Coulomb collisions can suppress instabilities.

Coal Geology & Exploration
Background Deep coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs generally exhibit ultra-low porosity and permeability, high stress, predominance of nanopores, and complex fracture propagation. These characteristics complicate reservoir stimulation, thereby restricting the enhancement in single-well productivity and commercial exploitation. Since 2019, technologies for deep CBM recovery have evolved from volumetric acid fracturing, which highlights the enhancement of matrix permeability, into large-scale volume fracturing focusing on the elevation of both the fracture network scale and proppant efficiency. In 2023, ultra-large-scale volume fracturing aimed at maximizing estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) was further developed. However, the implementation of this novel technique poses challenges such as a …

Coal Geology & Exploration
Objective Constrained by complex stratigraphic conditions in underground coal mines, directional drilling faces challenges such as low efficiency when encountering medium-hard and hard formations. Positive displacement motors (PDMs) with a diameter of 89 mm are commonly used for directional drilling. Their efficiency is primarily influenced by the sealing performance of their volumetric cavities, which further significantly affects the drilling efficiency. Methods Based on the structural characteristics of the three-dimensional (3D) volumetric cavities of PDMs and the simulation method of two-way fluid-structure interactions, this study proposed the criteria for quantitatively evaluating the efficiency and volumetric cavity performance of PDMs, followed by …

Eye tracking in modern XR head-mounted displays can capture high-frequency gaze data at 90–120 Hz, generating thousands of samples within a single 30-second interaction. At the same time, the XR market has grown to millions of active users worldwide, with major platforms such as Meta investing heavily in eye-tracking-enabled devices. Despite this large-scale adoption and data availability, most applications still rely on hand-controller input, with gaze either processed offline or reduced to a simple pointing signal. As a result, the majority of temporally rich gaze information remains unused in real-time interaction, limiting system responsiveness, reducing interaction fidelity, and preventing effective …
