As countries aim to reduce resource consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) has become a vital method for quantifying embodied and operational GHG emissions. However, few studies have conducted WLCA on an urban scale, often addressing operational or embodied GHG emissions in isolation without considering their cumulative impact. This study introduces a city-wide WLCA framework to assess the potential recyclable materials of urban building stock, using Singapore as a case study with 5915 public residential buildings. Wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) populations in Nebraska have declined substantially in recent years. Understanding gobbling chronology and its environmental drivers may inform spring hunting season structure and management actions. I used autonomous recording units (ARUs) in two ecologically distinct regions of Nebraska, the northwestern (NW) Pine Ridge landscape, and the southwestern (SW) agricultural landscape, to quantify gobbling activity from 2023-2025. I paired gobbling data with nesting chronology, cumulative daily hunting pressure, weather conditions, and moon phase using Bayesian generalized additive mixed models. We developed a class of multivariate integer-valued time series models using copula theory. Each count time series is modeled as a Markov chain, with serial dependence characterized through copula-based transition probabilities for Poisson and negative binomial marginals. Cross-sectional dependence is modeled via a trivariate Gaussian or a “t-copula”, allowing for both positive and negative correlations and providing a flexible dependence structure. Model parameters are estimated using likelihood-based inference, where the trivariate Gaussian or t-copula integrals are evaluated through standard randomized Monte Carlo methods. The AKSZ formalism is a construction of topological field theories where the target spaces are differential graded symplectic manifolds. In this paper, we describe an analogue of the AKSZ formalism where the target spaces are differential graded contact manifolds. We show that the space of fields inherits a weak contact structure, and we construct a solution to the analogue of the classical master equation, defined via the Jacobi bracket. In the n =1 case, we recover the Jacobi sigma model, and in the n = 2 case, we obtain three-dimensional topological field theories associated to Courant-Jacobi algebroids.

Due to their limited ability to reason about the social context in which they are used, smart speakers pose significant privacy risks by responding in ways that may violate people's implicit social boundaries. We conducted a cross-cultural vignette study (N = 944) in Germany and Singapore to investigate how situational factors—specifically social context (bystander relationships and closeness), physical context (location), and interaction context (topic and deceptive intent)—regulate user preferences for smart speaker responses. Our results demonstrate that these factors are superior predictors of response preferences than dispositional user traits (i.e., intrinsic personal traits). Effective demand forecasting has become crucial to strengthening system resilience, reducing food waste, and achieving sustainability in food systems. Despite recent advances in leveraging machine learning for food demand forecasting, most existing models remain static and assume stable demand patterns, posing a challenge for adapting to demand changes during disruption events. The main weather and climate stories for Tennessee in June 2026 were several rounds of heavy rainfall that produced flash flooding in different parts of the state. Early in the month slow moving storms produced heavy downpours in different parts of the state from June 7 to 14 including areas in or around Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis, as well as portions of Henry, Weakley, and Carroll counties in northwestern Tennessee. Four different locations across the state reported daily rainfall records between these dates.

Short peptides can form adaptive supramolecular assemblies, and understanding how minimal sequences organize around neurometabolites or hydrophobic cancer drugs enables the rational design of functional materials. This thesis combines molecular dynamics with experimental validation to establish design rules linking peptide sequence to emergent structure and function. Chapter 1 outlines the molecular determinants governing peptide assembly. Chapter 2 reviews computational workflows that reveal sequence-dependent conformations and supramolecular organization. Exact-match evaluation of agent-calling obscures qualitatively different failure modes: a model may select the right function yet hallucinate argument values, or satisfy a schema while choosing a agent for the wrong reason. Existing benchmarks collapse these distinctions into a single binary score, leaving practitioners unable to diagnose where agent calls fail. We propose SAAG a cascaded diagnostic framework that decomposes agent-calling evaluation into three sequential stages: registry conformance, structural completeness, and argument grounding, each producing interpretable stage-specific diagnostics. Environmental justice communities should have their climate change damages heard in the courtroom. One means to increase environmental justice claims is through claims under the federal Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Using Municipality of Bayamón v. Exxon Mobil Corp. (2025) as a model, this Article suggests a novel RICO case strategy to pursue climate damages for marginalized communities. Fundamentally, environmental justice RICO claims involve careful case design based on the climate-related damages a marginalized community has faced because of the long-term deception by fossil fuel actors upon those communities. Stunting remains the largest public health challenge among macro-nutrition problems in Indonesia, affecting almost a quarter of children under five in 2023. The prevalence is considered high according to the World Health Organization standard. This study analyzed 15 aggregated provincial variables from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), focusing on determinants of stunting among children under two to identify primary intervention levers. Findings indicated that intervention urgency should focus on the first 1,000 days, particularly the steep increase in stunting prevalence observed in the 12–24-month age range. We propose a simple yet effective regularization technique for node classification on graphs that leverages edge-based label co-occurrence patterns. We first train an MLP on node features to produce class probability distributions, then compute a fixed penalty matrix from edge-based co-occurrence statistics of these predictions. This penalty matrix, which captures unlikely class combinations on connected nodes, is then used to regularize GNN training without further updates. We evaluate this approach across multiple homophilic datasets (Cora, CiteSeer, PubMed, ogbn-arxiv) and heterophilic benchmarks (Chameleon, Squirrel, Actor, Roman-Empire) using three GNN architectures: GCN, GraphSAGE, and H2GCN. Neural signed distance fields have emerged as a powerful framework for representing three-dimensional geometry through continuous and differentiable neural functions. Their flexibility, resolution independence, and compatibility with gradient-based optimization make them especially attractive for surface reconstruction and geometric learning. However, despite these advantages, two fundamental challenges remain for engineering-grade applications. First, higher-order geometric properties such as curvature are difficult to model reliably during training and often require computationally expensive second-order differentiation. Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM) is both the performance bottleneck and a critical security boundary of modern computing systems. Its physical properties make it an attractive substrate for near-data computation—yet those same properties expose it to disturbance-based hardware attacks. This dissertation argues that these two dimensions are not independent: the architectural choices that make DRAM efficient also reshape its threat landscape. Addressing both requires a unified approach to memory architecture and security co-design.

The broadband microwave imaging spectroscopy capability provided by the Expanded Owens Valley Solar Array (EOVSA) allows new diagnostics of high-energy processes in solar flares, providing spatially and temporally resolved spectra rich in information about the acceleration and transport of energetic electrons.
