Expert finding systems allow ones to find individuals who have expertise in specific fields or domains. Traditional expert finding are mostly based on topic modeling or keyword search methods that are limited in their capability to encode contextual knowledge from natural language. To address the limitation, this paper presents Neural Expert Finder (NEF), a novel method that takes a transfer learning approach based on transformer encoder networks to leverage the rich seman-tic and syntactic patterns of language encoded in pre-trained language models (PLMs). Onekeychallenge in Out-of-Distribution (OOD) detection is the absence of groundtruth OOD samples during training. One principled approach to address this issue is to use samples from external datasets as outliers (i.e., pseudo OOD samples) to train OOD detectors. However, we find empirically that the outlier samples often present a distribution shift compared to the true OOD samples, especially in LongTailed Recognition (LTR) scenarios, where ID classes are heavily imbalanced, i.e., the true OOD samples exhibit very different probability distribution to the head and tailed ID classes from the outliers. Unsupervised Environment Design (UED) formalizes the problem of autocurricula through interactive training between a teacher agent and a student agent. The teacher generates new training environments with high learning potential, curating an adaptive curriculum that strengthens the student’s ability to handle unseen scenarios. Existing UED methods mainly rely on regret, a metric that measures the difference between the agent’s optimal and actual performance, to guide curriculum design. Regret-driven methods generate curricula that progressively increase environment complexity for the student but overlook environment novelty–a critical element for enhancing an agent’s generalizability. Revisiting Masked Auto-Encoders For Ecg-Language Representation Learning, Hung Manh Pham, Aaqib Saeed, Dong Ma

We propose C-MELT, a novel framework for multimodal self-supervised learning of Electrocardiogram (ECG) and text encoders. C-MELT pre-trains a contrastive-enhanced masked auto-encoder architecture using ECG-text paired data. It exploits the generative strengths with improved discriminative capabilities to enable robust cross-modal alignment. This is accomplished through a carefully designed model, loss functions, and a novel negative sampling strategy. Our preliminary experiments demonstrate significant performance improvements with up to 12% in downstream cardiac arrhythmia classification and patient identification tasks. In safety-critical RL settings, the inclusion of an additional cost function is often favoured over the arduous task of modifying the reward function to ensure the agent's safe behaviour. However, designing or evaluating such a cost function can be prohibitively expensive. For instance, in the domain of self-driving, designing a cost function that encompasses all unsafe behaviours (e.g., aggressive lane changes, risky overtakes) is inherently complex, it must also consider all the actors present in the scene making it expensive to evaluate. Algorithms have increasing influence on our daily decisions, especially when the recommendations are presented by human-like AI agents. This study applies the Theory of Effective Use to investigate how the fit between the user’s role expectation for an AI agent and the agent’s interaction style impacts AI advice adoption. We proposed a new concept termed Perceived Expectation-System Fit (PESF) and empirically examined its impact on user perceptions and advice acceptance. We found that low PESF reduces advice acceptance by diminishing cognitive and affective trust in the AI agent. Traffic sign recognition systems are crucial for the navigation and situation awareness of autonomous vehicles. They leverage deep learning technologies to swiftly and accurately identify traffic signs, even in the most challenging traffic environments. However, security researchers have uncovered a critical vulnerability in these systems: learning-based TSRs are particularly susceptible to physical-world perturbation attacks. Homomorphic Secret Sharing (HSS) has evolved as a state-of-the-art methodology for achieving secure two-party computation, synthesizing the advantages of secret sharing and homomorphic encryption. In general topology the notion of pds-irresolute and aδs-irresolute functions were introduced by Beceren and Noiri. In the present paper, these concepts of pδs-irresolute (briefly, Npδs-irresolute) and aδs-irresolute (briefly, Naδs-irresolute) functions are explored for the first time in neutrosophic topological spaces (NTS) as generalized version. We proved that every Naδs-irresolute function is Npδs-irresolute function but not conversely. Some characterizations, counter examples, and fundamental features are also presented. Overland flooding, a critical environmental phenomenon, poses significant challenges for computational modeling due to its complex hydrodynamics and the need for high-resolution data. This thesis presents GeoFlood, a new open-source software package for overland flooding simulations. The computational model solves shallow water equations (SWE) on a quadtree hierarchy of mapped, logically Cartesian grids managed by the parallel, adaptive library ForestClaw (Calhoun & Burstedde, 2017). The Temperature Versus Orbital Period Relation Of Am Cvns: Insights From Their Donors, Colin W. Macrie, Liliana Rivera Sandoval, Yuri Cavecchi, Tin Long Sunny Wong, Manuel Pichardo Marcano

We studied the spectral energy distribution of 22 known AM CVns with orbital periods (Porb) larger than 35 minutes using multiwavelength public photometric data to estimate the effective temperature of the accreting white dwarf. We find an infrared (IR) excess in all systems when compared to a single blackbody, both when the disk should be extended and when it should be truncated by the accretor's magnetic field. This suggests a dominant contribution from the donor to the IR flux. When fitting two blackbodies, the temperature of the hot component decreases with Porb, as expected by evolutionary models. …

On Representations Of The Super-Yangian Of The Queer Lie Superalgebra, Elena Poletaeva

Let Q(n) be the queer Lie superalgebra. We determine conditions under which two 1-dimensional modules over the super-Yangian of Q(n) can be extended nontrivially. We describe the dual modules of the simple finite-dimensional modules over YQ(1) . We use these results to describe blocks in the subcategory of finite-dimensional YQ(1) -modules admitting the zero generalized central character.
