Without a doubt the modern workplace is one made up of numerous working professionals graced with an array of varied abilities who work in tandem to meet a common goal. In this article the author recounts his personal journey to embracing the collaborative process and how he has honed and developed the skill set into an important element of design curriculum in order to prepare students for this fundamental market paradigm.

This research project is focused on sound art, and the material qualities of sound. The aim of this project is to employ the methodology of reflexive praxis, to better understand 'sound art' and how it communicates in the gallery context. Two mutually informing streams of research have been applied; textual analysis and creative practice. Through their combined use, the relationship between 'sound art'; and the gallery can be understood in theory based analysis and discussion, and in practice. This is a bundle containing research on sustainability initiatives that could be implemented in the East Bayside neighborhood of Portland, ME. These six essays were prepared by the Spring, 2010 Sustainable Communities Class known as CPD 602 at the University of Southern Maine. The class is part of the core curriculum of the Community Planning and Development program of the Muskie School of Public Service at the university.
