This paper attempts to expand on the scholarship surrounding the Jesuit strategy of cultural accommodation in China by Father Matteo Ricci by examining the influence of Chinese intellectual traditions on its inception and development. It incorporates the works of Zhu Xi, Matteo Ricci, and Philippe Couplet among others to establish a connection between the native Chinese traditions of syncretism and anti-heterodox scholarship, the process of cultural exchange between the Jesuits and the Chinese literati, and the translation and transmission of Chinese ideas to Europe in the late 16th and 17th centuries. As a critical component of curriculum creation and syllabus design, needs analysis has not been widely used in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. To address some common misconceptions, this article discusses various aspects of need analysis with the goal of structuring a more comprehensive picture of this approach. Based upon that, a variety of needs analysis methods are introduced through examples, aimed at enabling frontline Chinese teachers to effectively use needs analysis in their own classrooms and ultimately improving their instruction.

This review focuses on beginning-level, K-12, L1 English learners, and considers their reading comprehension of texts written in Chinese characters and literacy development. Instructional approaches, materials design, and teaching and learning strategies related to reading texts in Chinese characters in these settings are reviewed. This paper discusses the implicit function of refusal expressions that has been used by Chinese native speakers when responding to people’s offerings. By analyzing three conversations regarding how Chinese people have accepted people’s offerings during different time periods (1960’s, 1980’s, and 2000’s), the author argues that the verbal refusal in reacting to people’s offerings (especially gifts) does not literally mean “No, I don’t want it.” Instead, it is a way to show humility, politeness, and respect to the gift giver, and it functions as an implicit form of acceptance. This survey study aims to investigate the perceptions learners have of the character-learning strategies they employ when taking a web-based course in Chinese. The seven Likert-scale statements are included in the questionnaire to examine learners’ opinions on the three character-learning strategies that are widely used in traditional campus courses. A total of 65 students who completed the beginner level ‘Chinese Characters’ web-based course at a university in Sweden completed the survey. The results suggest that students in web-based courses consider these three strategies to be just as helpful and effective as campus students; moreover, the more orthodox strategy – rote …

Through the nationwide Morality Advocating Campaign, the Qing government brought novels into cultural management, which had a profound influence on the creation and dissemination of the novel. In such a political and cultural ecology, censership and banning of novels, which had formed an important part of the social Morality Advocating Campaign, became a top-down, national cultural conscious action in Qing Dynasty. Playfulness And Parody: The Narrative Tension In Japanese Collection Of Pseudo-Biography Kikai Gisenden, Dongbo Bian

"Kikai gisenden" is the only extant Japanese collection of pseudo-biography written in classical Chinese, which includes biographies for everyday utensils in the light of "viewing history as play" and "regarding object as man." These pseudo-biographies focus on the features of the utensils in narrative, while pointing to the nature of "recluse" and "immortality" of the characters. These aims in the pseudo-biographies both exhibit the influence from the biographical writing of recluses and immortal beings in Chinese tradition and manifest Japanese elements in its narrative through the use of Japanese imageries and words. 從英語到粵語 : 論《小婦人》的在地化及其原因, Chui Yee Lo

露意莎・梅・奧爾科特(Louisa May Alcott, 1832-1888)所著的美國小說《小婦人》(Little Women)於1869年正式面世,出版後廣受讀者喜愛,更被收入世界經典名著中。著作其後在1917年首度改編成同名默片電影,及後多次搬上大銀幕,其中較為人熟悉是1933年由喬治.丘克(George Cukor)執導的有聲電影。其後,首部彩色電影在16年後由梅爾文・勒羅伊(Mervyn LeRoy)執導。距離原著出版約一個世紀後,香港首部改編《小婦人》的粵語片在1957年由華僑電影企業公司出品,電影由吳回執導、程剛編劇,為公司一周年紀念作。

一九五O年代的香港影業蓬勃發展,取材多元,基於市場需求及當時的政治與文化環境,跨文化改編的電影恆河沙數,《小婦人》便屬一例。有論者認為改編電影的藍本不限於原著小說,更包括外國的改編電影。當作品經歷從某地改編到某地,作品的時代特色、文化背景、人文日常等必然與新地不盡相同,由此編導在接受和重新詮釋外國的文學作品時,便需要將作品「在地化(localization)」,以貼合當地人文特性。過去亦有不少關於改編作品的研究,例如電影研究者易以聞就曾探討《小婦人》由美國到香港電影的改編過程,分析原著與本地文化的融合和呈現。然而有關研究多探討香港電影如何改編原著,較少論述有關改動中在地化與當代語境的關係。

有見外國原著小說《小婦人》具代表性,而且由世界文學的文本到粵語改編電影,亦屬跨文化改編的典型例子。本文遂以前人研究為基礎,開展有關跨文化改編與在地化的討論,除探討文本與改編電影的異同,亦會結合五十年代香港環境,分析粵語改編電影在佈局、主題、人物和結局上的改編如何體現在地化,並推測當代語境與作品在地化的關係。

鴿子代表和平、聖潔、快樂,可是在程舟舟夢裏的鴿子,卻一點都不和平。每夜夢回,她總能看見那隻黑鴿的鳥啄是如何的鋒利。

葉知秋與程舟舟相識於大學時期,是形影不離的好朋友,可惜在一場爭吵後,兩人日漸疏遠,其後更是失去了聯絡。畢業後,程舟舟在酒店裏任職宴會廳的領班,某日下班後,收到了來自大學同學的電話,邀請她出席同學聚會。這一通電話看似平平無奇,卻又帶着程舟舟昔日逃脫不開的夢捲土重來。夢愈來愈真實了,那兩隻鴿子、那個黑裙女子,還有那一地的血紅⋯⋯

蒲松齡《聊齋誌異》集中國志怪小説之大成的作品,在四百多個故事中,以女性作為主要題材的有近270篇故事,被視為中國文學史上,表現女性意識的重要標誌。故事中的女性角色形象多樣,她們在禮教森嚴的社會中,努力地使自己在家庭及社會中生存,甚至取得比男性更優越的成就。在這爭扎求存中,她們往往展現出女性的反抗意識,以微弱的力量,反抗男權社會中對女性不合理的約束。然而,現在大部分有關《聊齋誌異》女性研究的學術文章主要論述女性角色的形象,但鮮少探討女性反抗意識。

有見及此,本論文將從女性的形象及其性格本貌,女性家庭與社會地位兩部分入手,分析《聊齋誌異》女性和求變和反抗意識。首先指出女性的形象可分為「人類女性」及「非人類女性」兩類,反映女性在不同的出身及背景下產生不同的形象。其次探討女性如何改變她們的地位。最後基於前文女性形象及地位的討論,探討女性反抗意識是出於男性凝視,還是女性的自主反抗,以考證女性反抗意識產生的原因。

唐傳奇在中國古代文學史上被譽為成熟、完整的小說作品,是除唐詩外另一件精緻的藝術品。然而唐傳奇發展至中晚唐才算是正式成熟的佳作。這件藝術品的形成與中國社會長年累積的豐富哲學思想密不可分,天道、人性與慾望觀將小說的敘事、人物塑造昇華到更高的層次。天道觀是中晚唐傳奇得以完成敘事結構的內在推動力,尤其以賞善罰惡天道觀為主,使其脫離六朝時期隻言片語式的小說創作。然而這個簡單的結構卻能被作者們巧妙地發揮出現實主義的社會批判和安慰時人的特殊功能,深化了作品的意義。人性和慾望觀對於人物塑造也發揮着重要的作用,讓人物內外互相成就,個性變得更複雜。再加上唐代文人得天獨厚的藝術審美能力,讓情慾情節進入作品時豔而不俗。詩的加入又將人性中必然具備的情感流露提升到更高的藝術審美層次。中晚唐傳奇小說的文學價值更加突出。既然天道、人性和慾望觀與中晚唐傳奇的成長,甚至文學價值關係如此密切,那麼具體是如何在小說創作當中體現出來,下文將會深入分析,以一個中國哲學思想的角度作為切入點,挖掘這些能和唐詩並稱一代之奇的傳世佳作。

現行官方與主流觀點普遍認爲常德方言屬於西南官話區,但是不少學者對常德方言的西南官話性質表示懷疑,認爲常德方言不具有西南官話的代表性,並且其含有西南官話的過渡性質及相當的湘方言因素。因此,本篇論文回顧了相應的古代記載以及近現代學者的觀點,重新探討了“常德方言是否應劃入西南官話區”的問題。論文以西南官話和常德方言的主要特徵作爲研究對象,另外也涉及與之相關的湘方言的内容。大體上,論文的研究角度側重於語音特徵尤其是聲調調值,以及歷史源流兩個方面。具體而言,論文通過比較常德方言與西南官話、湘方言,甚至是江淮官話之間的關係,試圖選擇一個比較合理的方言區作爲常德方言的區屬。最後,論文得出了“常德方言以劃入西南官話區為宜”的結論。

余華,浙江嘉興海鹽縣人氏,現居北京。中國先鋒文學作家,在文革成長。原為牙醫,80年代始寫作小說,1987年發表《十八歲出門遠行》成名。初期以寫作中短篇為主,後轉寫長篇,近年多出版隨筆、雜文集。其作品多以文革為背景,擅以暴力描寫、反諷等手法從人的角度探討隱藏在歷史中的倫理、價值觀等問題。就《兄弟》而言,大多學者只留意作品的先鋒性、題材處理、寫作風格或進行翻譯、比較等研究,縱亦有少量關涉主要人物(宋鋼、李光頭)的論著,但多側重於李光頭,缺乏較平衡的討論,也欠缺以新的角度切入論述。

本文將以余華長篇小說《兄弟》(上、下)為研究對象,以飲食角度切入論述。第一章為緒論,分別說明本文之寫作緣起、學者對《兄弟》的研究概況及本文採用之研究方法;第二章以小說中的食物、食器、餐飲場所為例,探討它們如何體現「兄弟」的價值觀、權力、性別、貧富與鄉鎮等方面的二元對立;第三章承接上章從文本內部的飲食視角對「兄弟」進行的分析,擴大至飲食與社會的討論:先從現當代文學史——「吃」的文學的範疇爬梳類近《兄弟》以飲食為線索的作品,後闡釋《兄弟》在中國當代社會的衍生意義。第四章為結論,整合全文中心要點。
