Recently, Robert F. Kennedy (“RFK”) Jr.’s nomination for secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) was confirmed by the Senate, and he will soon become the leader of America’s largest health agency.  While some of his controversial claims include his “refusal to embrace science that shows vaccines do not cause autism” and “denials of the efficacy of vaccines” in general, he has also advocated for the federal decriminalization of marijuana.  However, his more recent declarations and the government forces at play mean this decriminalization will not likely come to fruition.

Information literacy is crucial to satisfying a lawyer’s duty of technology competence by virtue of its inherent role in conducting legal research—a skill now recognized by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) as a priority as it prepares for the NextGen Bar Exam. In light of the rapid rise in the number of attorneys facing disciplinary issues across the country, it is the NCBE’s responsibility to draw upon its rich history to address information literacy as a technological competency on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam to protect the public from newly licensed lawyers’ incompetent use of generative artificial intelligence.

The United States is facing a fentanyl epidemic.  Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is fifty times stronger than heroin and one hundred times stronger than morphine.  While fentanyl is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for pain relief and anesthetic used in controlled medical settings, most overdoses come from illegally manufactured fentanyl.  Drug dealers lace fentanyl into fake prescription pills and other illegal drugs.  Since fentanyl is a synthetic drug, it is cheaper to produce than other opioids that are grown from plants, and it therefore is more profitable for drug cartels to sell.  A lethal amount …
