Assistance In Dying: A Comparative Look At Legal Definitions, Jocelyn Downie, Mona Gupta, Stefano Cavalli, Samuel Blouin

Euthanasia, assisted suicide, medical assistance in dying, death with dignity: these and many other different terms are used around the world to capture various types of assistance in dying. This diversity in terminology can create confusion both in academic debates and in policy-making if it is unclear what type of action or inaction is intended to be captured, by whom, and under what circumstances. By defining and contrasting several terms and legal status of assistance in dying in jurisdictions authorizing it, this comparative glossary aims to lay a foundation that prevents linguistic and conceptual confusion.

At some point after the virus struck, I had the idea that it would be appropriate and interesting to ask a number of experienced family law teachers to write a tribute about a more senior family law scholar whose work inspired them when they were beginning their careers. I mentioned this idea to some other long-term members of the professoriate, and they agreed that this could be a good project. So I reached out to some colleagues and asked them to participate. Law School Specialty Program Ranking Credibility, Robert R. Kuehn

U.S. News ranks law school specialty programs solely on reputation. A faculty member teaching in a specialty area at each school is asked to assess their area at other ABA accredited schools. In 2021, U.S. News added four more specialty programs: business/corporate law; constitutional law; contracts/commercial law; and criminal law. Unlike the prior nine categories, these four new programs cover core, not special, areas of a school’s educational program.

An examination of the ranking of these core areas illustrates the continuing credibility problem with the specialty program ranking system. There are noticeable clusters of schools ranked highest by U.S. News …

Michael Heller and James Salzman's new book, Mine! How the Hidden Rules of Ownership Control Our Lives, is a dream come true for property professors.

I suspect that many of us have moments when we think to ourselves, "wow, this stuff is really interesting," imagining that property law could somehow be of general interest.
