蕭紅在香港的生活與《呼蘭河傳》, Yuen Yee Wong

女性、愛情、自由、革命、叛逆、逃亡、寂寞……每一個詞放在蕭紅身上都別有意味。2014年，許鞍華電影《黃金時代》再一次掀起了蕭紅熱。蕭紅是中國現代文學史上一個獨特的女作家，也是逐漸受學界重視的作家之一。隨著近年來蕭紅研究的不斷深入，這個具有傳奇和悲劇色彩的女作家，她絕世的文學才華也逐漸展露眼前。

香港，作為她重要作品的孕育之地，某程度上也成就了蕭紅的寫作及文學地位。《呼蘭河傳》是蕭紅的重要代表作之一，也是在香港寫畢的作品之一。許子東教授認為：「中日戰爭期間，作為租界的香港受英國人管治，成為可讓懷抱不同政治立場的人與當下處境拉開距離的避風港，給予作家逃離專制政府的機會，蕭紅也就是在這個環境下完成《呼蘭河傳》。

雖然蕭紅在來香港前已經成名，但在香港時期的創作才真正地讓她名聲大噪起來。因著對蕭紅研究的深入，長篇小說《呼蘭河傳》也被研究者們從各個角度、各個層面進行了挖掘和闡釋，揭示出這部經典作品的現實性。故本論文的重心意在探討「蕭紅是在如何的寫作環境中創作了《呼蘭河傳》」的核心主題之上。換句話說，研究背後究竟是什麼原動力或原因促使蕭紅創作《呼蘭河傳》正是本論文的寫作目標。

蕭紅與她其後的丈夫端木蕻良一起來到香港不久，正好碰上日軍侵襲、香港淪陷之時。她死於香港，使論者總禁不住藉此想像著她與香港的浪漫關係。這也是吸引論者研究蕭紅的最大原因。香港對蕭紅來說也許意義並不大，但許多偶然的因素導致她在這裡成就了她的文學人生。故本論文將會集中細看蕭紅在香港時期的經歷，並結合其遭遇探討《呼蘭河傳》得以問世的原因。在香港這麼南、呼蘭河這麼北的地方，家鄉和避難之地相隔如此遙遠，《呼蘭河傳》可謂是蕭紅一次精神返鄉的旅程。

Mandarin Chinese has become increasing prevalent in the modern world. Accordingly, research of Chinese as a second language has developed greatly over the past few decades. This paper reviews research on the difficulties of acquiring a second language in general and research that specifically details the difficulty of acquiring Chinese as a second language. Based on this research, the author also reveals some areas that should be researched further in order to advance the field.

This article is set against the post-Mao official discourse on modernity, in which the conceptualization of a homogeneous, progressive time dominates the public consciousness. The focus is on Han Shaogong, one of the most important writers and cultural theorists in contemporary China, and on how he imagines a heterogeneous spatiotemporality away from the centralized and teleological paradigm. Han’s emphasis on the heterogeneity of time and space puts the homogenized, Hegelian-Marxist, developmentalist logic at the core of China’s modernization project into question. This article examines the representation of violence in Jia Zhangke's film A Touch of Sin (2013) in light of Žižek's theory of ‘objective violence’ and the wuxia tradition. Jia attempts to understand the rise of individual violent incidents during China's post-socialist transformations by laying out the social, historical and political milieus in which they take place. He unveils the Žižekian objective violence hidden in the realm of social normality, pinpointing the country's sins of collusion with the global capital to impose injustice on the poor and disadvantaged. In this general equilibrium model, firms engage in oligopolistic competition and choose increasing returns technologies to maximize profits. Capital and labor are the two factors of production. The existence of efficiency wages leads to unemployment. The model is able to explain some interesting observations of the labor market. First, even though there is neither long-term labor contract nor costs of wage adjustment, wage rigidity is an equilibrium phenomenon: an increase in the exogenous job separation rate, the size of the population, the cost of exerting effort, and the probability that shirking is detected will not change the equilibrium wage rate. …

The trip taken by Sarah Bouchard, Paul Eisenstein, Jane Wu, and Anna Young to China was meant to increase ties between various Chinese universities and Otterbein University as well as taking a look at modern and traditional cultures within regions. Faculty members presented to members of the Southwest Jiaotong University and met with faculty members at the University of Shanghai Science & Technology, Shanghai Jiatong University, and Southwest Jiaotong University. The Otterbein faculty also visited Giant Panda research bases to establish relationships and potential internships for exchange students wanting to work with the Giant Pandas.

Between 1949 and 1966, Mao Zedong’s cult of personality swelled into a kind of secular religion in China, and his birthplace, the remote village of Shaoshan, became a sacred site and s signal representative of national commemorative culture. This study rediscovers Shaoshan’s memorial projects undertaken during this period and explores how they embody the complex interplay between art/architecture and politics and the artistic tensions between rural and urban settings in post-Revolutionary China. This thesis discusses features of citizen communication on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform, and its relationship to participatory democracy in China. Weibo is a complex social space due to the interplay of different forces and social actors. On the one hand, Weibo provides the space for bottom-up political participation: it expands the horizontal discursive space where plural discourses coexist and interact; provides a social sphere where counter-discourses are created; a space where the culture of resistance is formed; and serves as an alternative source for information. In his article "Ecocriticism and National Image in 舌尖上的中国 (A Bite of China)" Mingwen Xiao examines the multi-faceted contents of the popular 2012 television series. Instead of exhibiting delicacies made by professional chefs in luxury restaurants, A Bite of China displays local food and dishes made by ordinary people. By focus on every-day food preparation, the show constructs a performance where class, ethnicity, gender, age, and other social markers are blurred and the geographically and ethnically diverse ways of food preparation and consumption appear as a cohesive Chinese culinary identity. The concept of "organic entity" is the foundation of Zhu Guangqian's early intellectual thoughts since 1927. This concept was repeatedly used from 1927 to 1944 in Zhu's work to observe, describe and interpret life and art, and it was also used as a dominant concept to re-examine the evolution of Western philosophy and science in the 19th and 20th centuries, and re-examine the Kantian-Crocian influence upon him for the construction of his own aesthetic theory of "artification of life."
