The Incorporation Of Government Lawyering In The Teaching Of Legal Ethics In Canadian Law Schools, Andrew Martin, Leslie Walden

Articles, Book Chapters, & Popular Press

Government lawyers, and the specific legal ethics issues that arise in their practices, remain largely overlooked in Canadian legal education. The authors argue that government lawyering should be better incorporated into legal ethics curricula in law schools, for both practical and conceptual reasons. Most importantly, understanding issues unique to government lawyering helps students better understand core concepts in legal ethics, and thus better prepare for the practice of law both in the public and private sectors. While law teachers face serious challenges in incorporating government lawyering into legal ethics education, many of those challenges can be confronted and ameliorated. The …

Lui joined California's highest court in 2011. Previously, he was an associate dean and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law specializing in constitutional law, education law and policy, and diversity in the legal profession.

Liu continues to teach constitutional law as a visiting professor at both Harvard and Stanford universities.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Stanford and attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship earning his master’s degree. The results of the Junior Indonesian Doctors Network (JDN) survey on August 1-30 2018 stated that 26.24 percent of doctors in Indonesias main workplaces were still paid under three million rupiah per month. Then, there are 8.89 percent of doctors who are even paid under one and a half million rupiah per month. Due to the low salaries earned, many doctors end up having to take additional work hours in several practice locations to increase their income. In fact, other studies say that working continuously for doctors increases the risk of malpractice and endangers patients. Low wages also make doctors …
