n Ultimate Bar Passage Rates: Which Law Schools Are Overperforming and Underperforming Expectations, Professor Jeffrey S. Kinsler examines whether law schools add measurable value to student bar passage outcomes beyond what would be predicted by entering credentials. Using a three-year dataset (2017–2019) for 186 ABA-approved law schools, the study employs linear regression models to assess the relationship between Median LSAT scores, Median undergraduate GPAs, and ultimate bar passage rates—defined by the ABA as passage within two years of graduation. The analysis confirms that entering credentials are predictive of ultimate bar passage outcomes but also demonstrates that some institutions significantly …

Public status shapes private ordering. Personhood status, conferred or acknowledged by the state, determines whether one is a party to or the object of a contract. For much of our nation’s history, the law deemed all persons of African descent to have a limited status, if given personhood at all. The property and partial personhood status of African-Americans, combined with standards developed to facilitate the growth of the international commodities market for products including cotton, contributed to the current beliefs of business investors and even how communities of color are still governed and supported. This Article, co-authored by a law school clinician and an artist and lawyer, explores collaborations between the artist, a child advocacy clinic, and its clients (children in state foster care) in building a community that empowers clients by giving them voice through both traditional legal advocacy and non-traditional forms of socially engaged artistic expression. The Article aims to address some of the challenges and benefits of clinics creating alliances with artists and community-based arts organizations as part of their teaching and advocacy missions. Released in 2017, Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed film Get Out explores the horrors of racism. The film’s plot involves the murder and appropriation of Black bodies for the benefit of wealthy, white people. After luring Black people to their country home, a white family uses hypnosis to paralyze victims and send them to the Sunken Place where screams go unheard. Black bodies are auctioned off to the highest bidder; the winner’s brain is transplanted into the prized Black body. Black victims are rendered passengers in their own bodies so that white inhabitants can obtain physical advantages and immortality.

With landmark affirmative action decisions pending from the United States Supreme Court in Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, this paper examines whether the educational benefits that flow from diversity acknowledged in Grutter v. Bollinger (2003) persist twenty years later in a law school context. Law has been claimed to be insensitive to the real legal issues that led to being unjust and controversial. Those real legal issues most commonly coexisted with the underlying social, cultural, economic, and political issues. In a civil law country, Indonesia, however, the courts often denied those non-legal issues into consideration. Similarly, legislative rules only focus on legal doctrines. They assumed that those non-legal issues were irrelevant to the court's role as the guardian of the rule. Recently, policymakers, institutional actors, and the public have made greater efforts towards being attentive to issues relating to anti-racism and discrimination, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion more broadly, prompted in part by growing calls for reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and the increasing visibility of the Black Lives Matter movement. This article offers various methods to administer such exams while maintaining their integrity—after asking artificial intelligence writing tool ChatGPT for its views on the matter. The sophisticated response of the chatbot, which students can use in their written work, only raises the stakes of figuring out how to administer exams fairly.
