Women's Wartime Life Writing In Early Twentieth-Century China, Li Guo

In her article "Women's Wartime Life Writing in Early Twentieth-Century China" Li Guo discusses military diaries, prison memoirs, and autobiographical reportages. These documents offer rich insights into the political endeavors and military mobility of women. Guo analyzes Bingying Xie's 1928 war diary about the Chinese nationalists' northern expedition, Langi Hu's 1937 book about anti-Japanese activism, and Lang Bai's 1939 reportage about the Sino-Japanese War and argues that these texts allow women to reconfigure the discourse of nation through experimental life writing in order to develop the genre with tales of valor, hope, struggle, and heroism. 劉台拱（1751-1805），字端臨，揚州寶應人，清乾嘉時期著名學者。早年習治理學，後與汪中、王念孫、段玉裁等人交遊論學，確立樸學治經方向，成為揚州學派中堅人物。本文擇取端臨學術為研究對象，論文內容計有以下數端：一、後世學者所記端臨傳世著述，或卷書有異，或篇名不同。其《儀禮補疏》為畢生精力所萃，然終未見成書。故考端臨著述之刊刻過程及著寫《儀禮補疏》之始末；二、端臨所著《論語駢枝》世譽精闢，且對劉寳楠、恭冕父子《論語正義》有直接影響。本文將詳論此書，以窺端臨論語學之要義、經學之梗概；三、端臨於經史百家，皆有涉獵，僅憑《駢枝》，無法盡見其學術大體。故又擇《經傳小記》、《荀子補注》等卷進行考證，以論端臨禮學、小學、史學、理學中的考據、義理面貌；四、誦讀文章，須知人論世。本文將以文獻史料為基礎，尤重書信、文集，敘述乾嘉時期不同學術陣營之學者（如汪中、翁方綱、章學誠等）與端臨交往論學之經過，從而考察端臨學術歷程之轉變與發展；五、揚州寶應乃清初理學重鎮，曾出朱澤澐、王懋竑等朱子學大家。端臨受家學及鄉學薰陶，精於理學。後受京城漢學氛圍影響，始重考據。舊說多以棄宋就漢為論，總結其學。然端臨對漢學、宋學之態度，實非如此簡單，值得考辨；六、乾嘉時期學術論辯、漢宋之爭等議題，受到以往學術界重視。本文將以端臨個案作為切入點，從此一未為關注之新視角，對乾嘉學術思想作出區別以往之詮釋。

李商隱詩歌的語言風格研究 : 以詠物詩為重心, Ka Chun Wu

本文以李商隱詠物詩作研究對象，探討詩中的語言風格。從聲母、聲調、詞彙三方面，論述其詠物詩之語言特色如何形成義山詩的風格。語言是人類溝通的工具。年代愈遠，我們愈難分辨不同文學作品的差異。文藝上的感受還比較容易理出頭緒，但語言運用上，如果沒有深入研究，讀者難以僅憑閱讀便確知古典作家的語用習慣。本文分析詩中音韻特色時，借鑑語言風格學的方法，統計李商隱的語用習慣。

根據本文的分析，可以確知有以下幾項結果﹕在音韻上，李商隱詠物詩偏好用牙音與喉音字，與他徘徊低吟，纏綿綺艷的詩風有一定的關係。李商隱有刻意使用頭韻的效果來加強詩歌的韻律美感。總體而言，頭韻效果都可以加深讀者對詩句的印象，而部分頭韻用例亦有其他不同的文學功能，可分四類﹕（一）襯托，（二）借聲擬情，（三）使詩的語音結構與語義結構不同，（四）突顯題旨。聲調上，義山詠物詩喜在五言對句第三字作入聲，形成「頓挫」的音韻風格。詞彙上，義山詠物詩的季節詞彙可以創造出具體化的抒情空間，幫助李商隱抒發情感。當他在詩歌上點明時節，其情感一般是限定在某一類特殊的情感上，如﹕傷別、歸思。最後，李商隱詠物詩的季節詞彙多為偏正詞組，形成其詩設色穠麗的風格特點。

On The V-De Construction In Mandarin Chinese, Chao Li

The paper proposes a novel classification and analysis of the V-DE construction in Mandarin Chinese. On this proposal, the V-DE construction is divided into two types, predicative and non-predicative. The predicative type can be further divided into entity-predicative V-DE constructions and eventuality-predicative V-DE constructions. With respect to the analysis of the V-DE construction, the paper identifies four different structures. It points out that the de-part (i.e. the part after and marked by 得-de) in most V-DE constructions is a clause with or without an overt subject. This paper examines the theme of Maurice Merleau-Ponty's Le Doute de Cézanne and tries to trace his early thoughts and question consciousness. Albeit a well-known essay, Le Doute de Cézanne is generally regarded as a phenomenological casual essay, but this label does not explain the paradoxes from the perspective of detail and structure of the essay. Liu Xie's Literary Mind and Xiao Tong's Selections of Refined Literature had different definitions and understanding of the genre to lament. In Reuven Tsur' Toward a Theory of Cognitive Poetics, cognitive science is used to explain why certain literary text can produce certain aesthetic effect, and hence a bridge between formal criticism and impressionist criticism is built. In Tsur's book, convergent and divergent styles are set as the two extremes of stylistics, while wit and emotion as two extremes of aesthetic effects. Tsur can then discuss poetry from seven aspects, giving fresh explanations to such aesthetic terms the sublime and the grotesque from the perspective of cognitive science.

As one of the key parts of metropolitan life and popular culture in contemporary China, Karaoke has so far eluded the scope of scholarly study. This paper aims not just at analyzing the phenomena spurred by Karaoke activity but essentially at developing a structural analysis of this activity itself. By juxtaposing Karaoke against the Confucian thought on music, this paper argues that the structure of Karaoke constitutes a key feature of modernity and manifests what I call the "crisis of sincerity."
