My work is rooted in the biblical definition of faith: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Like the Bible’s layered complexity—its patterns, metaphors, and cultural references—faith is not merely intellectual but an active trust in what is unseen. It transcends knowledge, anchoring itself in conviction and hope. This intersection of theology and lived experience is at the core of my practice.

The purpose of this Honors Research Project was to provide an extensive resource for art educators who wish to incorporate meaningful experiential learning opportunities by bringing visiting artists into their classrooms. The first section is a brief literature review detailing the benefits of incorporating experiential learning and visiting artists in the classroom. Following the literature review are three appendices provided as resources for teachers to utilize. The first appendix pertains to Ohio-based illustrators being used as visiting artists in schools and includes a list of ten illustrators with respective profiles for each. Often times, a creative work utilizes multiple creative mediums. For example, many poetry books feature visual art to enhance the original work. Dance performance is, arguably, always multidisciplinary This leaves room for many questions regarding unique ways that creative work can be developed and what sources of inspiration can be used as contributors. The final project comprises a collection of five choreographic works and five poems that correlate with each other in various ways. This project explores the benefits of accessible dance programs for children in the Akron area, focusing on programs like ArtSparks and the Vincent House. It looks at how these programs help kids grow physically, emotionally, and socially, especially for those who might not otherwise have access to dance. As a dancer and teacher, my personal experience with the positive impact of dance motivates this project, as I know how important it can be for a child's development. In this paper, I will discuss my thesis exhibition, The Creative Front, focusing on my materials, content, and context as they relate to each piece or body of work. This exhibition is the culmination of my work, which centers on my experience with the Russo-Ukrainian war. My work can be interpreted metaphorically, poetically, and directly through sculpture, installation, sound, and film. Premenstrual Disorders (PMDs) profoundly impact women’s daily lives yet remain under-recognized and undertreated, despite evidence that most sufferers report histories of childhood trauma, particularly emotional maltreatment. This study had three objectives: to explore the lived experiences and meaning-making of women with PMDs and emotional maltreatment histories; to examine perceived connections between premenstrual distress and past trauma; and to evaluate the role of drawing as a research tool for accessing experiences difficult to verbalize. Fifteen women aged 24–43 from nine countries were recruited through online support groups and screened with the Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PSST), the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-SF), …

La historia ha sido escrita desde una perspectiva que se ha invisibilizado las contribuciones femeninas en su desarrollo. Este artículo se centra en Lilly Reich (1885-1947), figura clave del diseño moderno, cuya autoría ha sido eclipsada por la de su colaborador Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. La investigación evidencia que la diseñadora no solo contribuyó al diseño de mobiliario moderno y de espacios expositivos, sino que lideró proyectos clave y que su trabajo ha impactado en el diseño expositivo, textil y mobiliario moderno.

บทคัดย่องานวิทยานิพนธ์ "ศิลปะวิดีโอจัดวาง: มายาแห่งการก้าวผ่าน" มีเป้าหมายหลักในการสำรวจความขัดแย้งระหว่าง "การเปลี่ยนแปลง" และ "การคงสภาพ" ในสังคมไทยระหว่างปี 2548 ถึง 2567 โดยใช้แนวคิดของ Thomas Samuel Kuhn และ Fernand Braudel ในการตีความว่า "วิกฤต" ของไทยเป็นทางแยกที่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำ ๆ จาก “การไม่สามารถมีมาตรวัดใดมาตรวัดหนึ่งเป็นมาตรวัดหลัก” ระหว่างสองกระบวนทัศน์ได้ ทำให้สังคมไทยติดอยู่ใน "วัฏจักรของการเปลี่ยนไม่ผ่าน" ซึ่งเป็นสภาวะเรื้อรังที่เกิดจากการถูกแทรกแซงกระบวนการเปลี่ยนกระบวนทัศน์ ทำให้เกิด "วิกฤตซ่อนเร้น" อยู่ภายใต้สภาวะปกติของสังคม สาเหตุหลักเกิดจาก "ความไม่ลงรอยกันของจังหวะเวลา" ระหว่าง โครงสร้างเมืองที่ช้า วิถีชีวิตที่ปรับตัว และเหตุการณ์การเมืองที่รวดเร็ว ซึ่งทำให้การเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบฉับพลันไม่สามารถแก้ไขปัญหาระดับโครงสร้างได้ ผลงานศิลปะจึงทำหน้าที่เป็นสื่อกลางในการเปิดเผยสภาวะที่ถูกกดทับเหล่านี้ และตั้งคำถามว่าการเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่กระบวนทัศน์ประชาธิปไตยเป็นเพียง "มายาภาพ" เท่านั้นหรือไม่ โดยการสร้างสื่อ Multi-Channel Video Installation Art เพื่อสะท้อน “"การเปลี่ยนกระบวนทัศน์ที่อยู่ในระหว่างดำเนินการ" และใช้ประติมากรรมเรืองแสงเพื่อแสดงถึงสิ่งที่ซึมซับเสี้ยวส่วนของปรากฏการณ์ ที่ยังคงอยู่ในระหว่างการเดินทางที่ไม่มีจุดสิ้นสุด

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการของผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัย ตำบลศรีดอนชัย อำเภอเชียงของ จังหวัดเชียงราย และเพื่อสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางดุริยางคศิลป์ เรื่อง ตับเรื่องน้ำไหลไทลื้อ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า พัฒนาการของผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัย ระยะแรกสืบทอดมาจากเมืองอู สิบสองปันนาเป็นผ้าซิ่นตางอย โครงสร้างมี 8 ส่วน คือ หัวซิ่น ลายก่าน ลายตาหมู่ขนาดใหญ่ แถบตางอย ลายตาหมู่ขนาดกลาง แถบตานิล ลายตาหมู่ขนาดเล็ก และตีนซิ่น ลักษณะเด่นคือแถบตางอยและแถบตานิล ทอด้วยการขัดสานลายหนึ่ง ระยะต่อมามีพัฒนาการเป็นผ้าซิ่นลายน้ำไหล โครงสร้างคงเดิม แต่นำลวดลายหลักที่ทอด้วยกลวิธีการทอเกาะมาแทนที่แถบตางอย ส่วนลายประดับอื่น ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นการนำสิ่งที่พบเห็นในสภาพแวดล้อมรอบตัวมาบันทึกไว้บนผืนผ้า การผลิตผ้าซิ่นตั้งแต่ทศวรรษที่ 2550 คือผ้าซิ่นร่วมสมัย โครงสร้างคงเดิม มีพัฒนาการด้านการขยายพื้นที่ลวดลาย การออกแบบลวดลายที่ซับซ้อนขึ้น การให้ความสำคัญกับโทนสี และการพัฒนากลวิธีการทอเกาะผสมจก การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางดุริยางคศิลป์: ตับเรื่องน้ำไหลไทลื้อ เป็นการนำพัฒนาการของผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัยมาประพันธ์เป็นทำนอง แบ่งเป็น 3 ช่วง 11 เพลง ได้แก่ ช่วงที่ 1 โครงสร้างมาตรฐานของผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัย ช่วงที่ 2 พัฒนาการของผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัย ช่วงที่ 3 เอกลักษณ์ผ้าซิ่นชุมชนไทลื้อศรีดอนชัย การประพันธ์ใช้วิธีการถอดบทร้องและวิธีการประพันธ์แบบขนบภักดิ์สบสมัยและแบบบุกไพรเบิกทาง กลุ่มเสียงที่ใช้มากที่สุดคือทางเพียงออบน รองลงมาคือทางกลาง และทางเพียงออล่าง วงดนตรีที่ใช้คือวงดนตรีพื้นเมืองเหนือผสมซออู้ ขลุ่ยเพียงออ และปี่ลื้อ

Things Goin' On: Hierarchical Order is a series of mixed media works examining power dynamics and structured relationships within human life. This body of work explores social class, gender roles, and systemic power structures through a combination of found textiles, altered objects, and diverse rendering techniques. Each piece investigates how individuals are positioned within broader social and natural systems. The works collectively encourage reflection on the universal and historical role of power dynamics in shaping human experiences and interactions.

The Medea Effect: The Binary Terror Of Women Existing In The Liminal Space, M. Nance

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Medea character as a liminal figure. Taking a metaphorical approach to Victor Turner’s ideas on liminality, this study will deconstruct different binary oppositions—villain/victim, agent/object, Dionysian/Apollonian. The Medea character does not fall neatly to one side of these binary oppositions; therefore, this thesis argues that Medea instead inhabits the space between the binary oppositions in the realm of the liminal. The thesis then analyzes the same binary oppositions within a survey of theatrical and non-theatrical texts that feature characters that embody archetypes that originated within the Medea character—the she-devil, the murderous mother, …

Within my painting process, I explore bodily interiority and exteriority in relation to the surface of painting, evoking a discomforting sense of corporeal (dis)embodiment, where haunted flesh becomes palpable. Indexing conversations with the body into the painting is a way to understand my body and create an experience of what happens when language fails to capture the complexity of sensation. Painting becomes a mediation with the canvas, a constant discovery of what can give shape to the intangible: how it feels when my skin folds into itself, bodily urges, and the soft texture of fatty tissue.

Why speculate on Filippo Brunelleschi’s Pazzi Chapel? As Giorgio Vasari wrote, many of Brunelleschi’s projects were not finished in his lifetime and not as he wished. The lesson to be drawn, says Vasari, who was writing a century after Brunelleschi’s death, is that “anyone who wishes to leave a memorial of his existence should complete it in his own lifetime and not put faith in anyone else.” Since Brunelleschi died well before the chapel was completed, issues have been raised for over a century about its inconsistencies regarding the open loggia, the barrel-vaulted portico, and the façade.
