Walking Carefully Towards Bridging The Gap: Exploring Australian Music Educator Voices About Teaching Indigenous Music, Dawn Joseph, Bradley Merrick

Facilitating an inclusive pedagogy to close the gap that exists within the teaching of Indigenous Knowledge in Australia is a tall order for many teachers. This paper draws on responses to a national study and explores how music educators include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music and culture into their practice. An online survey (December 2022-February 2023, N=109) informed the findings. Using thematic analysis, two themes (teaching challenges and opportunities, and bridging the gap) are discussed and key recommendations offered. Findings suggest that walking carefully towards bridging the gap is an opportunity for educational change in contemporary Australian classrooms.

This narrative case study examines the cultural affiliations of one transnational US-born Mexican American college student, and her various intersecting veins of identity. The aim was to capture the bordered existence in the many criteria of her being. Her linguistic identity, pop culture identity, spiritual identity, as well as her general cultural affiliations are examined as intersecting rays of influence. Utilizing Anzaldúa’s (2012) bordered identity as theoretical grounding for her partitioned selves, along with Bakhtin’s (1986) notion of cultural and linguistic dialogue, we analyzed the complexities in this one bicultural, bilingual young woman venturing into adulthood. Informed by recent explorations on translanguaging practices in higher education and teacher education, this self-case study explores how a bilingual teacher educator, teaching bilingual teacher preparation courses in Spanish at a Hispanic-serving institution on the US-Mexico border embraces a translanguaging stance to leverage teacher candidates’ bilingualism while preparing them to produce and use academic and professional forms of Spanish discourse for teaching. Findings illustrate how a bilingual teacher educator purposefully embeds translanguaging moves to leverage bilingual teacher candidates’ bilingualism to develop a linguistically inclusive bilingual teacher candidates’ repertoire of practice. This chapter describes an instructional framework for culturally relevant and affirming teaching and curricula that addresses effective ways to interconnect cross-cultural content to expand cultural and content literacy in K-12. The Culturally and Linguistically Affirming Pedagogies for Local Context (CLAP-LC) Framework was developed to create culturally and linguistically affirming content, promote equitable education, and nurture student engagement. The framework centers on the intersection of cultural knowledge and lived experiences of students, families, and communities in content and curriculum to promote student achievement, especially students from minoritized and marginalized groups.

In this paper, the author analyses learning as a function of the threshold between parties and ideas. Using Bakhtinian dialogic theory, literacy learning in particular is envisioned as a dialogue of the threshold. This instructional threshold is viewed both in pedagogical and biological terms. The physiological process of learning is described, making a biological case for instructional scaffolding and the gradual release of responsibility in the classroom. The dialogue of different disciplines serves as integration of several thresholds and further strengthening of learning. Curriculum integration is then promoted as a means to lasting learning.

Exploring one of the most transformative eras of Antigua’s colonial history through a close examination of the dominating planter class, this dissertation provides an analysis of Antiguan elite Creole culture and planter identity from the mid-eighteenth century through the 1830s. Interdisciplinary methodologies complement traditional documentary evidence in mapping planter development and their relationship to the metropole. The first chapter begins with an assessment of the geopolitical environment of Antigua and explores how the island colony was a crucial hub within the British imperial maritime economy and naval sphere of influence in the West Indies. การศึกษาวรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารสำนวนภาษาไทยและสำนวนภาษาอื่นในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ภาคพื้นทวีป, ณัฐวุฒิ แสงพันธ์

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มุ่งรวบรวมและปริวรรตตัวบทวรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารสํานวนภาษาไทยและสํานวนภาษาอื่นในเอเชีย ตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ภาคพื้นทวีป รวมทั้งศึกษาลักษณะร่วมและความแตกต่างของวรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารสํานวนต่างๆ และ วิเคราะห์วรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารในมุมมองพุทธศาสนาแบบพื้นถิ่น ข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการศึกษามีทั้งข้อมูลที่ตีพิมพ์แล้วและยังเป็นต้นฉบับตัวเขียนรวม 38 สํานวน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ตัวบทเรื่องสุบินกุมารสามารถจําแนกตามภาษาที่ใช้ได้เป็น 4 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ภาษาไทย ภาษาตระกูลไท ภาษาลาว และภาษาเขมร โดยใช้ตัวอักษรที่บันทึก 3 ชนิด คือ ตัวอักษรไทย ตัวอักษรธรรม หรือ ตัวอักษรเขมร ตัวบทสามารถจัดแบ่งตามประเภทวรรณกรรมได้เป็น 5 กลุ่มกับอีก 1 ฉบับ ได้แก่ 1) วรรณกรรมอานิสงส์ 2) กลอนสวด 3) ศาสตราแลบง 4) แหล่ 5) นิทาน และคัมภีร์ปถมกัปป์หลวง ในการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบวรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารสํานวนต่าง ๆ พบว่ามีลักษณะร่วมในด้านโครงเรื่อง ฉาก ตัวละคร และแนวคิดหลัก ในด้านโครงเรื่อง ปรากฏปมขัดแย้งระหว่างพ่อแม่กับลูกชายในเรื่องการบรรพชาอุปสมบทในพุทธศาสนาตรงกันทุกสํานวน ทําให้เกิดเป็นแบบเรื่องนิทานสุบินกุมาร ซึ่งประกอบด้วยอนุภาคเหตุการณ์สําคัญ 2 เหตุการณ์ ได้แก่ เหตุการณ์ลูกชาย หนีพ่อแม่ที่ไม่นับถือพุทธศาสนาไปบวช และเหตุการณ์การบวชในพุทธศาสนาของลูกช่วยให้พ่อแม่พ้นจากนรก โครงเรื่องของเรื่องสุบินกุมารมี 4 แบบ แบบที่พบมากที่สุดคือแบบที่ปรากฏเหตุการณ์ลูกชายช่วยทั้งแม่และพ่อจากนรก ตัวละครที่ปรากฏร่วมกันทุกสํานวน ได้แก่ ตัวละครเอกคือลูกชาย ตัวละครปฏิปักษ์คือ แม่และ/หรือพ่อ รวมทั้งตัวละครรองคือพระยายมและยมบาล ส่วนฉาก ที่ปรากฏร่วมกัน ได้แก่ ฉากเมืองบนโลกมนุษย์ในสมัยพุทธกาลและฉากนรก ในด้านแนวคิดสําคัญ แก่นเรื่องที่ปรากฏร่วมกัน คือ อานิสงส์แห่งการบวชในพุทธศาสนาสามารถช่วยพ่อแม่ให้พ้นจากนรกได้ โดยเป็นประโยชน์แก่ทั้งสองฝ่ายคือพ่อแม่และตัวผู้บวช รวมทั้งยังปรากฏคําสอนเรื่องกรรมในทุกสํานวน ในด้านกลวิธีการประพันธ์ พบว่าวรรณกรรมเรื่องสุบินกุมารแต่ละประเภทใช้ กลวิธีการประพันธ์ที่หลากหลายจากขนบการประพันธ์ต่าง ๆ เช่น กลวิธีการประพันธ์แบบพระสูตรในพุทธศาสนา กลวิธีการ ประพันธ์แบบวรรณคดีพุทธศาสนาที่แต่งในไทยและดินแดนใกล้เคียง กลวิธีการประพันธ์แบบวรรณคดีราชสํานัก และกลวิธีการประพันธ์แบบวรรณคดีท้องถิ่น ผลการศึกษายังพบว่า เรื่องสุบินกุมารมีกระบวนการปรับให้เป็นวรรณกรรมพุทธศาสนาแบบพื้นถิ่น 3 กระบวนการ สําคัญ ได้แก่ 1) การประมวลองค์ประกอบจากวรรณคดีพุทธศาสนาและเรื่องเล่าในท้องถิ่น 2) การตีความเรื่องการบวชว่าเป็นบุญ และการตีความเรื่องกรรมให้เชื่อมโยงกับระบบครอบครัว เพื่อประนีประนอมกับค่านิยมและความเชื่อในท้องถิ่น …

การเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาในปริจเฉทการสนทนาภาษาไทยแบบไม่เผชิญหน้า, ญาณิศา สระบัว

การสนทนาแบบไม่เผชิญหน้าเป็นรูปแบบการปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่พบได้มากขึ้นในสังคมปัจจุบัน จึงเป็นกลุ่มข้อมูลที่ น่าสนใจศึกษา งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาในปริจเฉทการสนทนาภาษาไทยแบบไม่ เผชิญหน้าทางโทรศัพท์และทางแอปพลิเคชันสนทนาไลน์ (LINE) และเฟซบุ๊ก แมสเซนเจอร์ (Facebook Messenger) ศึกษาทั้งในด้านลักษณะการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา รูปภาษาแสดงการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา และความถี่ที่ปรากฏ ศึกษาว่าปัจจัยเพศมีผลต่อการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาหรือไม่ รวมทั้งวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา ในปริจเฉทการสนทนาทางโทรศัพท์กับทางแอปพลิเคชันสนทนา โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากผู้ร่วมสนทนาเพศชาย 115 บท สนทนา และผู้ร่วมสนทนาเพศหญิง 115 บทสนทนา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ภาพรวมลักษณะการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา ด้านตําแหน่งการปรากฏการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาพบการเปลี่ยนประเด็นในผลัดเดิม การเปลี่ยนประเด็นทันที และ การเปลี่ยนประเด็นฝ่ายเดียวมากที่สุด ด้านเนื้อหาของประเด็นใหม่พบการเปลี่ยนประเด็นเกี่ยวกับคู่สนทนามากที่สุด และด้านความสัมพันธ์ของประเด็นสนทนาพบการเปลี่ยนประเด็นแบบไม่สัมพันธ์กับประเด็นใด ๆ (การเปลี่ยนประเด็น ใหม่) มากที่สุด ด้านรูปภาษาแสดงการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาพบการเปลี่ยนประเด็นแบบไม่ปรากฏรูปภาษาแสดงการ เปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนามากกว่าปรากฏรูปภาษา รูปภาษาแสดงการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาที่พบความถี่มากที่สุดสาม อันดับแรก ได้แก่ ถ้อยคําเชื่อมความ ถ้อยคําแสดงการนึกขึ้นได้ และถ้อยคําเรียกคู่สนทนา หน้าที่หลักของรูปภาษาทุก ประเภท คือ ส่งสัญญาณแสดงการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา และมีหน้าที่อื่น ๆ แตกต่างไปตามประเภทของรูปภาษา ใน ด้านปัจจัยเพศ ผู้วิจัยศึกษาทั้งในเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ในเชิงปริมาณ ผู้ร่วมสนทนาเพศชาย และเพศหญิงเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาส่วนใหญ่ไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ ดังนั้น ปัจจัยเพศจึงไม่ได้มีผลต่อ การเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาในภาพรวม ส่วนในการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ พบว่า เพศชายและเพศหญิงเปลี่ยนประเด็น แตกต่างกัน 3 ประการ ได้แก่ การเปลี่ยนประเด็นตามหลังความเงียบ เนื้อหาของประเด็นสนทนาใหม่ และรูปภาษา แสดงการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนา ลักษณะที่แตกต่างนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นลีลาภาษาของเพศชายและเพศหญิงที่แตกต่างกัน กล่าวคือ เพศชายจะสนทนาแบบ “ตรงไปตรงมา” ส่วนเพศหญิงจะสนทนาแบบ “คํานึงถึงการมีส่วนร่วม” ส่วนผล การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบปริจเฉทการสนทนาทางโทรศัพท์กับทางแอปพลิเคชันสนทนา พบว่า ลักษณะที่แตกต่างกันของ ปริจเฉทการสนทนาทั้งสองรูปแบบโดยเฉพาะด้านความต่อเนื่องของการสนทนาและช่วงเวลาการสนทนาส่งผลให้การ เปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนามีความแตกต่างกัน ส่วนความแตกต่างด้านการระบุระยะห่างระหว่างข้อความของไลน์และ เฟซบุ๊ก แมสเซนเจอร์ไม่ได้มีผลต่อการเปลี่ยนประเด็นสนทนาในภาพรวม
