Light And Dark, Quinn Marshall 2026 New Mexico State University

Light And Dark, Quinn Marshall

The Agora

Some of my recent poems. They are melancholy, and many play on ideas about what is light and darkness and how they manifest themselves. Most of these poems are written based on my thoughts about some of life’s challenges and how they make me feel. “The days” is an example of this. Others, particularly “Lights” and “Dark”, are more idealogical in nature and I use them to explore what I think are prevailing cultural assumptions.

Lyreen, Maynooth, Gage Anderson 2026 New Mexico State University

Lyreen, Maynooth, Gage Anderson

The Agora

An entry from a collection of short poems written over the summer of 2023. This collection recalls the island of Ireland: the history, the nature, the people, from an outsider’s perspective. Written on location across the varied landscapes of the emerald isle, this collection centers the melancholy of travel, and the resiliance of the Irish people. The titular poem recalls the Lyreen River, which runs through the town of Maynooth.

Poems By Nursing Students, Anonymous, A. Jann Davis, L M. A, Larry Atkins 2026 University of North Alabama

Poems By Nursing Students, Anonymous, A. Jann Davis, L M. A, Larry Atkins

Documents

A series of four poems presumed to be authored by nursing students in approximately the 1980s on themes related to mortality and grief.

The first poem "Thoughts of a Dying Person" is written by an anonymous author whose speaker questions the things in life they would do differently if they had more time. Its form is more prose like than the others in the document and could be considered flash fiction or prose poetry but seems to fit the poetic category more through the usage of a triangular shaping of the poem.

The second poem, an untitled piece by A. …

Destination: Love And Redemption In The Underworld, Alexis P. Johnson

Masters Theses

This essay serves as an artist’s statement for Alexis Johnson, outlining her journey as a storyteller and the development of her MFA thesis work, focusing on her feature film screenplay, Destination. Johnson details her lifelong connection to Arizona and the desire to propose storytelling on film that moves outside the stereotypical standard the state is known for. Through Destination, she aims to expand the Western genre by weaving in elements of magic and imagination, showcasing Arizona as a place rich in narrative potential. The screenplay explores themes of death, identity, and transformation. She reflects on how her life’s challenges have …
