Largely ignored by Gaskell scholars, the early Chinese translations of Gaskell’s works have not been carefully looked at. From 1920 to 1945, the publication of four stories by Gaskell-- Cranford, Cousin Phillis, Hand and Heart, and The Old Nurse’s Story, witnessed the transformation from politics-orientated to independence in China’s publishing history. With their growing understanding of foreign literature, Chinese scholars had been translating and criticizing Gaskell’s works, and gradually formed a focus on Cranford. The focus of this investigation is to analyze the concept of “foreign soundingness” used by David Bellos in his essay “Fictions of the Foreign the Paradox of “Foreign-Soundingness” in the Latino/a music context. Specifically, it is interesting to see how code-switching between English and Spanish in certain songs can be used to connect with the US Latino/a community, but also be a “foreign soundingness” for the audience outside of the mainland. This essay examines Zora Neale Hurston’s “Story in Harlem Slang” (1942) to analyze how the reading experience of the story captures relational dynamics in the community of Harlem. Written in the “Harlemese,” a distinctive lexicon developed in the 1920s, the story seemingly serves as a dictionary with an attached glossary and illustrations of the vernacular words. Reading the story, however, not so much allows the readers to join the linguistic community as requires them to be conscious of the border-crossing movements. This study investigates the use of the utterance-final tteyuu [ʔtejɯː], a combination of the quotative particle tte and the verb yuu (‘say’). Although its lexicalized status and utterance-final occurrence are commonly observed, we still know little about its real-time functions. The analysis of 120 examples in varied contexts shows its general usage to clarify something expressed in the prior talk, which is a type of repair practice. More importantly, the analysis reveals how the participants’ understanding of the ongoing speech activity and multimodal cues affect its use and interpretation. This thesis is a translation of an excerpt from the 1997 memoir of Italian author Rosetta Loy, La Parola Ebreo, and an accompanying paper which explains my translation process, gives historical context and provides an argument for the continued relevance of the text. La Parola Ebreo recounts Loy’s memories of growing up in Rome, Italy, under Benito Mussolini’s Fascist rule. In this introduction to the Special Issue “Translating Transnational Feminisms,” we argue for the integral position of feminist translation practices and the theories of Feminist Translation Studies as tools for both local and transnational feminist solidarities. Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own (1929) was first translated in Greek by Mina Dalamanga (Odysseus Editions) in 1980. Almost forty years later, in 2019, Vasia Tzanakari was assigned the translation of Woolf’s seminal text by Metaichmio Publications. And in 2021, a new translation by Sparti Gerodimou saw the light of day, published by Erato Publications (2021). Three different women translators have thus rendered Woolf’s text in Greek with all three publications coming out at times marked by significant changes in Greek society. For Bhanu Kapil, the drafting process of writing involves the translation of non-linguistic realities into storytelling, the nature of which must leave room for the performative experience that shapes writing. In Schizophrene (2011), Kapil engaged in adventitious composition processes when she sealed her manuscript in a Ziploc bag and threw it in the garden to spend months outdoors in the Colorado winter. The text, full of gaps created by the erased parts of the “winterized” manuscript, documents schizophrenia in diasporic Indian and Pakistani communities. Despite the importance of early identification and intervention of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Hispanic children are significantly under-diagnosed with ASD in comparison to non-Hispanic, white children due to barriers to ASD identification in this population. The purpose of this research is to determine the levels of ASD knowledge in the Hispanic community in Bowling Green, the barriers that may contribute to why ASD is underdiagnosed in Hispanic children, and how to mitigate these barriers. สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาแนวโน้มการเลือกใช้กลวิธีการแปลเพื่อถ่ายทอดความหมายของคำและวลีในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพภาษาอังกฤษ เฉพาะส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติของไทยที่ปรากฏในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ร่างทรง จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 52 คำ โดยมีสมมติฐานการวิจัยว่าในการแปลเพื่อถ่ายทอดความคำและวลีที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติของไทยจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพภาษาอังกฤษของภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ร่างทรง นั้น ผู้แปลมีแนวโน้มจะเลือกใช้กลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งที่สุด จากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทั้งหมด ผู้วิจัยพบว่าผู้แปลมีการเลือกใช้กลวิธีการแปลคำทั้งในระดับคำและระดับประโยค ในระดับคำ ผู้แปลเลือกใช้กลวิธีทั้งหมด 55 ครั้ง โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการปรับความหนาแน่น 15 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 27.27) การคัดลอกคำด้วยการถ่ายทอดในระดับคำ 15 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 27.27) การเทียบทางวัฒนธรรม 16 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 29.09) การคัดลอกคำด้วยการถ่ายทอดในระดับสัทศาสตร์ 7 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 12.73) และไม่พบการแปล 2 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 3.64) จะเห็นได้ว่าผู้แปลเลือกใช้กลวิธีในระดับคำในจำนวนที่ใกล้เคียงกัน โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งที่สุด ในระดับประโยค ผู้เลือกใช้กลวิธีทั้งหมด 14 ครั้ง โดยเลือกใช้กลวิธีการปรับมุมมอง 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) การจัดเรียงใหม่ 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) การปรับเปลี่ยนตัวบท 4 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.57) และการทดแทน 2 ครั้ง (คิดเป็นร้อยละ 14.29) จากการศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยพบว่าผู้แปลมีแนวโน้มที่จะเลือกกลวิธีการเทียบเคียงทางวัฒนธรรมบ่อยครั้งมากที่สุดในการแปลคำและวลีทางด้านวัฒนธรรมในส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเชื่อ ศาสนาและสิ่งเหนือธรรมชาติเพื่อให้ตัวบทฉบับแปลถ่ายทอดความหมายได้สอดคล้องกับวัฒนธรรมปลายทางซึ่งจะทำให้ผู้รับสารฉบับปลายทางเชื่อมโยงได้โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องอธิบายเพิ่มเติม ทำให้บทบรรยายใต้ภาพมีลักษณะเป็นไปตามข้อจำกัดของบทบรรยายใต้ภาพทั้งในด้านพื้นที่และด้านเวลา ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีลักษณะสอดคล้องกับผลของงานวิจัยเรื่องการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรมในส่วนที่ศึกษาเกี่ยวกับกลวิธีการแปลข้ามวัฒนธรรมในการแปลสื่อโสตทัศน์ ที่มีผลลัพธ์ว่ากลวิธีที่เน้นไปทางความเข้าใจของผู้รับสารฉบับปลายทาง โดยกลวิธีที่พบบ่อยครั้งมากที่สุดคือกลวิธีการเทียบทางวัฒนธรรมเช่นเดียวกัน

Colonial Translation Turned Vietnamization: Phạm Quỳnh And The Discourse Of Transculturation, Camellia Pham

Vietnam during French colonialism (1861-1945) was a site of hybrid enunciations that displayed tensions with multiple languages (Chinese, Vietnamese, French) and multiple scripts (classical Chinese, Nôm script, Quốc Ngữ, and French) while existing under the influence of various powers (the Nguyễn feudal dynasty, the French colonial government, and the nascent Democratic Republic of Vietnam). The array of choices reflected a state of confusion in which every decision made by Vietnamese translators was inherently political. This eccentric hybridity is well exemplified in translations by Phạm Quỳnh 范瓊 (1892-1945), a late Nguyễn dynasty monarchist and early French colonial collaborator.

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาขนบในการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ไทยแนวตลก (Comedy Movies) ในช่วงพ.ศ. 2543-2553 และในช่วงพ.ศ. 2554-2565 เพื่อค้นหาว่าในยุคหลังการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ไทยแนวตลกมีขนบการแปลอย่างไร และสาเหตุของการเปลี่ยนแปลงดังกล่าวคืออะไร นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยยังต้องการศึกษาว่าประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์นั้นจะมีผลต่อขนบในการแปลภาพยนตร์หรือไม่ โดยผู้วิจัยได้คัดเลือกชื่อภาพยนตร์แนวตลกทั้งหมด จำนวน 250 รายชื่อ และได้จำแนกประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์ในทั้งสองช่วงเวลาออกเป็น 5 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ภาพยนตร์ตลก ภาพยนตร์ตลกโรแมนติก ภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ ภาพยนตร์ตลกแอ็คชั่น และภาพยนตร์ตลกดราม่า จากการศึกษาผู้วิจัยพบว่า ในยุคแรก กลวิธีการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ที่นิยมมากที่สุด ได้แก่ การแปลความ รองลงมาคือการตั้งชื่อใหม่ และการทับศัพท์ตามลำดับ ในขณะที่ช่วงยุคหลังนั้น กลวิธีการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ที่นิยมมากที่สุด ได้แก่ การทับศัพท์ การตั้งชื่อใหม่ และการแปลความ เมื่อเปรียบเทียบขนบการแปลชื่อภาพยนตร์ในสองช่วงเวลาตามประเภทย่อยของภาพยนตร์ พบว่ากลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลโดยเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบตั้งชื่อใหม่ และกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลกแอ็คชั่น ภาพยนตร์ตลกสยองขวัญ และภาพยนตร์ตลกดราม่า โดยสะท้อนผ่านการใช้กลวิธีการแปลความ ทั้งนี้การใช้กลวิธีการแปลความและการตั้งชื่อใหม่อาจทำให้ ผู้ชมเข้าใจเนื้อหาสำคัญของภาพยนตร์และอาจทำให้ผู้ชมตัดสินใจชมภาพยนตร์ สำหรับกลุ่มภาพยนตร์ที่มีแนวโน้มของขนบในการแปลแบบเคลื่อนเข้าหาวัฒนธรรมต้นทาง ได้แก่ กลุ่มภาพยนตร์ตลก และภาพยนตร์ตลกโรแมนติก โดยสะท้อนผ่านกลวิธีการแปลแบบทับศัพท์ ซึ่งการทับศัพท์เป็นการรักษาชื่อในภาษาต้นทาง แต่ในบางกรณีชื่อในต้นทางก็เป็นการทับศัพท์คำภาษาอังกฤษ ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้ผู้ชมในวัฒนธรรมปลายทางเกิดความเข้าใจและสนใจที่จะชมภาพยนตร์ดังกล่าว

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาแนวทางการแปลมุกตลกจากการเล่นคำและเล่นภาษาในหนังสือการ์ตูนคอมิกสตริปเรื่อง lobster is the best medicine, the little world of liz climo และ best Bear ever ของลิซ คลิโม (Liz Climo) จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย ผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาการถ่ายทอดเนื้อหาของตัวบทการ์ตูนประเภทต่าง ๆ และทฤษฎีการสร้างความขบขันโดยใช้ภาษา เพื่อนำมาประกอบกับแนวทางการวิเคราะห์ตัวบทประเภทสารคดีของคริสติอาเน นอร์ด (Christiane Nord) ในการวิเคราะห์และทำความเข้าใจตัวบทและวางแผนการแปล พร้อมทั้งศึกษาทฤษฎีและแนวทางการแปลต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งประยุกต์ใช้ทฤษฎีการสื่อความโดยใช้วิธีหลากหลาย (Multimodality) และทฤษฎีการแปลการเล่นคำของเดิร์ก เดอลาบาสติตา (Dirk Delabastita) ได้แก่ การแปลการเล่นคำเป็นการเล่นคำ (pun>pun) การแปลการเล่นคำเป็นวรรณศิลป์ที่สัมพันธ์กัน (pun>related rhetorical device) และการแปลการเล่นคำเป็นคำธรรมดา (pun>non-pun) ในการกำหนดแนวทางการแปล เพื่อรักษาลีลาการเล่นภาษาอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของผู้เขียน ในข้อจำกัดเรื่องภาพประกอบ โดยยังถ่ายทอดเนื้อหามุกตลกได้ถูกต้องตามต้นฉบับ และศึกษาทฤษฎีสมมูลภาพ (Equivalence) ของยูจีน ไนดา (Eugene Nida) เพื่อถ่ายทอดความขบขันให้ได้ใกล้เคียงต้นฉบับมากที่สุด ผลการศึกษาพบว่าทฤษฎีและแนวทางการแปลต่าง ๆ ข้างต้นนำมาประยุกต์ใช้แก้ปัญหาการแปลได้ และได้บทแปลที่รักษาลีลาการเล่นภาษา ถ่ายทอดเนื้อหาและสร้างผลลัพธ์ได้ใกล้เคียงกับต้นฉบับ

สารนิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการแปลภาษาวัยรุ่น เพื่อแปลภาษาวัยรุ่นในวรรณกรรมเยาวชนเรื่อง Dork Diaries ของ Rachel Renee Russell ผู้วิจัยตั้งสมมติฐานว่าการใช้ภาษาวัยรุ่นในวรรณกรรมเป็นเจตนาของผู้ประพันธ์ให้ภาษาสื่อความหมายทางวัจนปฏิบัติศาสตร์ ผู้วิจัยจึงศึกษาทฤษฎีการแปลของ Ernst-August Gutt ที่ประยุกต์มาจากทฤษฎีความเกี่ยวเนื่องมาแก้ปัญหาในการแปล เนื่องจากเป็นทฤษฎีที่พัฒนามาจากแนวคิดวัจนปฏิบัติศาสตร์ จึงน่าจะเหมาะสมกับการแปลภาษาวัยรุ่น นอกจากนั้นผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษากลวิธีการแปลภาษาวัยรุ่นเพิ่มเติมจากงานวิจัยที่ผ่านมารวมถึงแนวคิดการแปลภาษาวัยรุ่นในรูปแบบต่างๆ โดยเฉพาะการแปลภาษาสแลงที่เป็นลักษณะโดดเด่นของภาษาวัยรุ่น เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการแปลให้บทแปลบรรลุสามารถเป้าหมายในการสื่อความหมายและสร้างอรรถรสจากการใช้ภาษาวัยรุ่นให้แก่ผู้อ่านภาษาฉบับแปลได้เทียบเท่ากับผู้อ่านภาษาต้นฉบับ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ทฤษฎีการแปลของ Gutt ช่วยผู้วิจัยในการตัดสินใจเลือกกลวิธีการแปลที่เหมาะสมได้เป็นอย่างดี โดยกลวิธีที่ใช้ในการแปลตัวบทคัดสรรแบ่งเป็น 3 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ 1) กลุ่มกลวิธีการแปลภาษาที่ไม่เป็นไปตามมาตรฐาน ประกอบด้วย 7 กลวิธี ได้แก่ การแปลโดยการใช้คำที่ใช้ในวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง การแปลโดยการใช้คำที่เท่าเทียมกัน การแปลด้วยคำที่มีความหมายเป็นกลาง การแปลโดยถอดความด้วยคำที่มีความเชื่อมโยงกับต้นฉบับ การแปลโดยการถอดความด้วยคำที่ไม่มีความเชื่อมโยงกับต้นฉบับ การแปลเป็นคำที่ไม่มาตรฐาน และ การแปลด้วยการทับศัพท์ 2) กลุ่มกลวิธีการแปลโวหารภาพพจน์ ประกอบด้วย 3 กลวิธี ได้แก่ การแปลตรงตัว การแปลแบบตรงตัวและตีความ และ การแปลด้วยโวหารเทียบเคียง 3) กลุ่มกลวิธีการแปลการเล่นคำ ประกอบด้วย 1 กลวิธี ได้แก่ การแปลการเล่นคำในภาษาต้นทางเป็นการเล่นคำในภาษาปลายทาง

สารนิพนธ์นี้มุ่งหาแนวทางในการแปลคำด้านวัฒนธรรมที่ปรากฏในการ์ตูนช่องเรื่อง ฉันชื่อแสงดาว จากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ผู้วิจัยใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบรักษาความแปลกต่างของลอเรนซ์ เวนุติ (Lawrence Venuti) ในการรักษากรอบการแปล ประกอบกับสังเคราะห์กลวิธีการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรม 12 วิธีของปีเตอร์ นิวมาร์ก (Peter Newmark) และแนวทางการประยุกต์ใช้กลวิธีการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรมประเภทต่าง ๆ ของสุพรรณี ปิ่นมณีออกมาได้เป็น 7 กลวิธี ได้แก่ 1) ใช้การถอดเสียงหรือคำทับศัพท์ 2) ใช้การเทียบเคียงคำทางวัฒนธรรม 3) ใช้การแปลแบบตรงตัว หรือแปลแบบคำต่อคำ 4) ใช้การละ 5) ใช้เชิงอรรถหรืออธิบายความ 6) ใช้การแปลแบบกว้าง 7) การใช้กลวิธีร่วมกัน ผลการศึกษาพบว่ากลวิธีที่ยกมาทั้ง 7 ประการสามารถนำมาใช้ในการแปลตัวบทได้ทั้งหมด โดยใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบตรงตัวมากที่สุด 14 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 35 ของจำนวนทั้งหมด และใช้กลวิธีการแปลแบบละน้อยที่สุด 1 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 2 ของจำนวนทั้งหมด ทั้งนี้ผู้วิจัยพบปัญหาในด้านข้อจำกัดของพื้นที่ เมื่อนำข้อความบรรจุลงในกรอบคำพูด บางประโยคมีความยาวมากเนื่องจากต้องเก็บความหมายจากภาษาต้นทางให้ครบถ้วนทำให้ไม่สามารถบรรจุลงในกรอบได้พอดี จึงต้องอาศัยการปรับขนาดตัวอักษรและจัดย่อหน้าใหม่เพื่อให้เหมาะสมกับพื้นที่ของตัวบท

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการแปลการเล่นคําจากหนังสือ The Unofficial Harry Potter Joke Book: Great Guffaws for Gryffindor ของ Brian Boone จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย ตัวบทเป็นการนำเสนอมุกตลกหลากหลายรูปแบบในบริบทของหนังสือและภาพยนตร์ชุดเรื่องแฮร์รี่ พอตเตอร์ ซึ่งการนำเสนอมุกตลกนั้นมีการใช้การเล่นคำที่โดดเด่น การแปลการเล่นคำในคู่ภาษาที่มีลักษณะการใช้ภาษาที่แตกต่างกันนั้นมีความท้าทายและไม่อาจทำได้ง่าย ผู้วิจัยนำแนวทางการแปลการเล่นคำของเดิร์ก เดอลาบาสติตา มาใช้เป็นแนวทางในการแปลการเล่นคำในตัวบท ประกอบกับการศึกษาโครงสร้างและบทบาทการเล่นคำในภาษาอังกฤษและภาษาไทย และแนวทางการนำเสนอความตลกในบริบทภาษาไทย เพื่อให้เข้าใจลักษณะการเล่นคำและสามารถถ่ายทอดบทแปลที่รักษาไว้ซึ่งการเล่นคำและความตลกได้อย่างเหมาะสม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การแปลเพื่อรักษาการเล่นคำในตัวบทมุกตลกซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักของสารนิพนธ์เล่มนี้ สามารถทำได้โดยใช้แนวทางการแปลการเล่นคำของเดิร์ก เดอลาบาสติตา และคำนึงถึงลักษณะการเล่นคำที่เหมาะสมและเป็นไปได้ในภาษาไทย รวมถึงสร้างสรรค์ความตลกในบทแปลตามแนวทางการนำเสนอความตลกที่รวบรวมโดยนารีรัตน์ บุญช่วย จึงทำให้สามารถถ่ายทอดบทแปลที่คงไว้ซึ่งการเล่นคำที่ใกล้เคียงกับต้นฉบับและสร้างความตลกสนุกสนานให้กับผู้อ่านบทแปลได้

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาทฤษฎีและแนวทางการแปลตัวบทวรรณกรรม ประเภทนวนิยาย เพื่อแปลนวนิยายเรื่อง ไม้ดัด มุ่งศึกษาในประเด็นการแปลคำที่เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมไทยที่ปรากฏในวรรณกรรมเรื่องนี้ และนำเสนอตัวอย่างการแปลที่มีคุณภาพและมีสมมูลภาพกับต้นฉบับให้มากที่สุด กรอบการวิเคราะห์ที่นำมาใช้ในการศึกษา คือ แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการแปลวรรณกรรมของวัลยา วิวัฒน์ศรและแนวทางการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรมของแอนโธนี พิม (Anthony Pym) มาใช้เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการแปลวรรณกรรมประเภทนวนิยาย ตลอดจนการใช้แนวทางการวิเคราะห์ตัวบทประเภทนวนิยายของวัลยา วิวัฒน์ศรในการวิเคราะห์และเพื่อถ่ายทอดสารในต้นฉบับ มาประยุกต์ใช้ร่วมกับการนำแนวทางการแบ่งประเภทคําทางวัฒนธรรมที่เสนอโดยยูจีน ไนด้า (Eugene Nida) หลังจากที่ได้นำทฤษฎีและแนวทางการแปลข้างต้นมาประยุกต์ใช้การแปล ผู้วิจัยพบว่าทฤษฎีและข้อมูลดังกล่าวมีส่วนช่วยการแปลได้จริง สามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ร่วมกับการแปลและการแก้ปัญหาที่พบในตัวบทประเภทนี้ได้อย่างเหมาะสม เพราะมีการใช้ปรับใช้แนวทางการแปลคำทางวัฒนธรรมของแอนโธนี พิมอย่างหลากหลายแนวทางนำไปสู่การถ่ายทอดตัวบทในแต่ละบริบทที่แตกต่างกันได้เหมาะสมยิ่งขึ้น

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อศึกษาและหาแนวทางการแปลคำศัพท์เฉพาะทางด้านระบาดวิทยาในตำรา Basic epidemiology ของ Ruth Bonita จากคำศัพท์เฉพาะทางที่คัดสรรจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 30 คำและบทความต้นฉบับที่คัดสรร โดยมีสมมติฐานการวิจัยว่า แนวทางการวิเคราะห์ตัวบทของคริสติอาเน นอร์ด (Cristiane Nord) แนวทางการแปลแบบตีความและยึดความหมายของ ฌอง เดอลิลส์ (Jean Delisle) แนวทางการแปลคำสร้างใหม่ของปีเตอร์ นิวมาร์ก (Peter Newmark) และองค์ความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับระบาดวิทยา จะสามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในกระบวนการแปลคำศัพท์เฉพาะทางด้านระบาดวิทยาที่คัดสรร เพื่อถ่ายทอดความหมายของคำศัพท์เฉพาะทางได้อย่างถูกต้อง มีสมมูลภาพและคงความเป็นศัพท์เฉพาะทาง ผลการวิจัยแสดงให้เห็นว่าทฤษฎีและแนวทางการแปลดังกล่าว สามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้เพื่อการแปลคำศัพท์ทางระบาดวิทยาปละบทความที่คัดสรรได้ตามสมมติฐาน

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอประมวลศัพท์การตลาดบริการซึ่งประกอบด้วยศัพท์เกี่ยวกับกลยุทธ์การวางแผนการตลาดบริการ การวัดคุณภาพและการวิเคราะห์ปัญหาของการให้บริการ โดยมีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาทฤษฏีที่เกี่ยวข้องและกระบวนการจัดทำประมวลศัพท์ เพื่อนำประมวลศัพท์ที่ได้มาใช้เป็นเอกสารอ้างอิงสำหรับผู้เชี่ยวชาญในสาขา นักศึกษา นักการตลาด นักแปล ล่าม รวมถึงบุคคลทั่วไปที่สนใจศึกษาทางด้านการตลาดบริการ การจัดทำประมวลศัพท์การตลาดบริการนั้นได้มีการอ้างอิงทฤษฏีและแนวทางในการจัดทำประมวลศัพท์ที่นักศัพทวิทยาได้นำเสนอไว้ โดยแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ (1) การกำหนดหัวข้อ วัตถุประสงค์การศึกษา ขอบเขตการศึกษา และกลุ่มเป้าหมาย (2) การทบทวนวรรณกรรมทางศัพทวิทยาและศึกษาเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการตลาดบริการ (3) การสร้างคลังข้อมูลภาษาและการดึงศัพท์จากคลังข้อมูล (4) การสร้างมโนทัศน์สัมพันธ์ของศัพท์ในสาขาการตลาดบริการ และ (5) การจัดทำบันทึกข้อมูลศัพท์เบื้องต้น การจัดทำบันทึกข้อมูลศัพท์ รวมถึงการเขียนคำนิยามเพื่อนำมาใช้ในการกำหนดศัพท์เทียบเคียงในภาษาไทย ประมวลศัพท์การตลาดบริการประกอบด้วยศัพท์ทั้งหมด 31 คำ โดยจัดเรียงตามกลุ่มมโนทัศน์สัมพันธ์ และลำดับของมโนทัศน์ในมโนทัศน์สัมพันธ์ การนำเสนอศัพท์แต่ละคำประกอบด้วยศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษ ศัพท์ภาษาไทย ประเภทของคำทางไวยากรณ์ ขอบเขตข้อมูลที่พบศัพท์ มโนทัศน์สัมพันธ์พร้อมคำอธิบายบริบทที่พบศัพท์ นิยามศัพท์ รูปศัพท์อื่น และข้อมูลอ้างอิง

This essay examines the work of the Dutch-Indonesian author Beb Vuyk in producing one of the first foreign-language translations of John G. Neihardt’s Black Elk Speaks: the 1964 Dutch edition Zwarte Eland spreekt. Published in the Netherlands, Vuyk’s translation connects the 1932 as-told-to autobiography of the Oglala Lakota heyoka Black Elk to the career of one of the most important Dutch-Indonesian authors after World War II, who had a prominent voice in debates on Indonesian decolonization.
