Nearly 60% of women will suffer from a urinary tract infection (UTI) in their lifetime, with 20- 40% of them suffering from multiple (Anger et al., 2022). The primary purpose of this evidence-based project was to implement a multi-modal intervention to improve identification of women who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs) and to assist in the prevention and treatment of future UTIs. Additionally, the project aimed to increase the number of referrals to urology for better management of these patients. Introduction and objectives: The treatment of bladder carcinoma relies on a multimodal approach, including chemotherapy, radical cystectomy, and lymph node dissection, but clear guidelines for the optimal strategy remain ambiguous. Radical cystectomy is complex, with high morbidity and mortality, yet limited research has focused on its short-term implications for lymph node-positive bladder cancer. Zinner syndrome (ZS) is a rare congenital condition characterized by the triad of unilateral renal agenesis, ipsilateral seminal vesicle cyst, and ipsilateral ejaculatory duct obstruction. ZS is suspected to be caused by the malformation of the mesonephric duct during embryogenesis. The incomplete migration of the ureteric bud results in ipsilateral renal agenesis and ejaculatory duct obstruction. The remaining gonad develops with inadequate seminal fluid drainage, leading to the formation of seminal vesicle cysts. ZS is often asymptomatic, leading to challenges in diagnosis, particularly in adolescents. Symptoms can include pain, dysuria, pollakisuria, perineal pain, epididymitis, and pain after ejaculation. Acute urinary retention (AUR) is a urological emergency that requires immediate bladder decompression and management of the underlying condition to prevent further complications such as urinary tract infection and renal failure. When standard urethral catheterization is not feasible, a suprapubic catheter can be used to achieve adequate bladder drainage. However, in patients with structural or anatomical challenges, such as the presence of surgical mesh, suprapubic catheter placement can be difficult. This case report presents the successful placement of an 8.5 French pigtail catheter and urinary drainage in an 86-year-old male with abdominal mesh who presented with AUR.

This study investigates the implications of race-based adjustments in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) calculations on the health outcomes of Black children with renal disease. Historically, a race coefficient has been added to eGFR calculations for patients identified as Black, resulting in an artificial inflation of kidney function by approximately 16%. This inflation can delay the classification of chronic kidney disease (CKD), postpone eligibility for essential interventions like preemptive kidney transplantation, and prolong reliance on maintenance dialysis. Background: Testosterone deficiency results from insufficient testosterone production. Testosterone therapy may require dose titration to reach eugonadal serum testosterone concentrations.

Objective: The primary objective was the efficacy of oral testosterone undecanoate (TLANDO; Antares Pharma Inc.) in male patients with documented hypogonadism. Secondary objectives included a comparison of oral testosterone undecanoate safety and quality-of-life assessments to 1.62% topical testosterone gel (AndroGel 1.62%; AbbVie).

Background: Other-cause mortality (OCM) can serve as a surrogate for access-to-care. The authors sought to compare prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM) in Black versus White men matched based on their calculated OCM risk.

Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was queried for Black and White men diagnosed with prostate cancer between 2004 to 2009, to collect long-term follow-up. A Cox regression was used to calculate the OCM risk using all available covariates. This calculated OCM risk was used to construct a 1:1 propensity score matched (PSM) cohort. Uterus didelphys refers to a congenital uterine anomaly that occurs due to failed fusion of the paired Müllerian ducts. It is characterized by two separate noncommunicating uterine horns each with its cervix and fallopian tube. Duplication may be limited to the uterus, cervix or also involve the vagina. Here, we present a case of a 27-year-old primigravida incidentally diagnosed during pregnancy, followed up with cervical cerclage at 13 weeks due to a short cervix and had preterm delivery via cesarean section at 35 weeks. Objective: The study aimed to prospectively evaluate the feasibility of diagnosing PCa using voided urine samples and by targeting the genomic VPAC (vasoactive intestinal peptide and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide) receptors in comparison with multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mp-MRI) in male patients (≥40 years of age) with lower urinary tract symptoms and having a serum PSA of >4 but < 15 ng/ml.

Patients and methods: Male patients attending urological services ≥40 years old, with lower urinary tract symptoms and serum PSA levels of >4 but < 15 ng/ml formed the study group. Voided urine samples were collected to target VPAC receptors on malignant cells. All patients underwent mp-MRI. BACKGROUND: Significant efforts have been undertaken to decrease opioid prescribing, but there is little research into patient-specific factors presenting as barriers in the pediatric surgical population. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been shown to be a safe and effective alternative to opioids for pain control, however, concerns about their impact on renal function limit their use in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Data is limited on the interplay of CKD on opioid prescribing.

Background: Health literacy significantly influences healthcare outcomes, with poor literacy leading to worse quality of life, increased mortality, and higher readmission rates. Recent efforts to improve post-encounter education include structured teach-back methods, patient preference assessments, and standardized discharge instructions. Studies in emergency departments have shown that incorporating video discharge instructions enhances patient understanding and retention of care information.
