OBJECTIVES: Multicenter data on the characteristics and outcomes of children hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 are limited. Our objective was to describe the characteristics, ICU admissions, and outcomes among children hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 using Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study: Coronavirus Disease 2019 registry.

DESIGN: Retrospective study.

SETTING: Society of Critical Care Medicine Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study (Coronavirus Disease 2019) registry.

PATIENTS: Children (< 18 yr) hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 at participating hospitals from February 2020 to January 2021.

Study objectives: Recent treatment guidelines for chronic insomnia recommend pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One of the contemporary drug options for insomnia includes dual orexin receptor antagonist (DORA), such as suvorexant and lemborexant. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis for the treatment of insomnia with suvorexant and lemborexant based on randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Trials.

Rationale: The decision to liberate from mechanical ventilation (MV) remains the result of multi-disciplinary discussion based on imperfect clinical tools such as the rapid shallow breathing index and spontaneous breathing trials. We have previously shown that static lung compliance (Cp) can help identify patients at high risk of reintubation despite meeting traditional criteria. It has become increasingly important procedure in pathologic compression fracture treatment. Pulmonary cement embolism (PCE) happens by leakage of cement through the venous plexus or retrograde migration in the arterial vessels to aorta. Identification of subphenotypes based on host immune responses that are biologically discrete and predict outcomes may enable personalized COVID-19 therapies. M. tuberculosis and M. bovis are clinically and radiographically indistinguishable, hence, genotype-based identification is required. Management and outcomes of M. bovis infection are not well described. We present the first case of endobronchial tuberculosis secondary to M. bovis in an immunocompetent host. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is ubiquitous and re-infection with both subtypes (RSV/A and RSV/B) is common. The fusion (F) protein of RSV is antigenically conserved, induces neutralizing antibodies, and is a primary target of vaccine development. Insight into the breadth and durability of RSV-specific adaptive immune response, particularly to the F protein, may shed light on susceptibility to re-infection. Consultation/liaison psychiatrists care for people with co-existing medical and psychologic difficulties. The coronavirus pandemic is stressful for patients and their psychiatric caregivers. Patients have lost support systems and harbor fears about exposing family to the virus. COVID-19 sometimes exacerbates previous psychiatric conditions, while diminishing intimacy with physicians. Everyone is oversaturated with COVID-19-related news focusing on rising concerns about the illness and about jobs, school, and housing insecurities.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: We sought to establish normative peak expiratory flow (PEF) data for patients with idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS), evaluate whether immediate changes in PEF after a procedure predict long-term treatment response, and test if a decline in longitudinal PEF is associated with disease recurrence.

The proton-sensing receptor, ovarian cancer G protein-coupled receptor (OGR1), has been shown to be expressed in airway smooth muscle (ASM) cells and is capable of promoting ASM contraction in response to decreased extracellular pH. OGR1 knockout (OGR1KO) mice are reported to be resistant to the asthma features induced by inhaled allergen. Ascariasis is one of the most common infections in the world and associated with significant global morbidity. Ascaris larval migration through the host's lungs is essential for larval development but leads to an exaggerated type-2 host immune response manifesting clinically as acute allergic airway disease. However, whether Ascaris larval migration can subsequently lead to chronic lung diseases remains unknown. Here, we demonstrate that a single episode of Ascaris larval migration through the host lungs induces a chronic pulmonary syndrome of type-2 inflammatory pathology and emphysema accompanied by pulmonary hemorrhage and chronic anemia in a mouse model. Background: Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are diffuse parenchymal lung disorders that cause substantial morbidity and mortality. In patients with ILD, elevated antinuclear antibody (ANA) titres may be a sign of an autoimmune process. Inhalational exposures contribute to ILD pathogenesis and affect prognosis and may trigger autoimmune disease. The association of inhalational exposures with ANA seropositivity in ILD patients is unknown.

Background: Cystic fibrosis–related diabetes (CFRD) is a common comorbidity among people with CF (PwCF). It is associated with weight loss, protein catabolism, lung function decline, and increased mortality. Nutritional status and pulmonary function begin to decline in PwCF several years before the diagnosis of CFRD. Early CFRD detection and aggressive insulin therapy have been shown to reduce the mortality gap between PwCF who have CFRD and those who do not.
