A disorder known as "auto-brewery syndrome" or "gut fermentation syndrome" occurs when bacteria or fungus in the urinary, oral, or gastrointestinal tract ferment endogenously, producing ethanol. Patients with auto-brewery syndrome frequently report eating a diet heavy in sugar and carbohydrates and exhibit many of the symptoms and indicators of alcohol intoxication while disputing alcohol consumption. Research on Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease indicates that endogenous alcohol synthesis may have bacterial roots; these bacteria may also be the causative agents in GFS. Probiotics, low-carb diets, anti-fungal medications, and antibiotics are currently used as therapies for GFS. Fecal microbiota transplantation may also have …

Introduction: Mast cells (MCs) have many functions including regulation of GI epithelial homeostasis, cross talk of the brain gut axis, host immune defenses, and inflammatory pathways. MCs are found in all layers of the GI tract and have been implicated in various gastrointestinal diseases. Although previously described in the literature, mast cell colitis is not considered a distinct clinical entity. This poses a challenge to the gastroenterologist who encounters such pathologic findings. BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer mortality and third leading cause of incidence worldwide; accounting for one in ten cancer cases and deaths. Thirty-three percent of people between the age of 50 and 75 are not up to date on screening for colon cancer. Clinical Characteristics And Outcomes Of Patients With Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension In East Africa: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study, Zian Muikamba

Introduction; Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a neurological condition characterized by elevated intracranial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure without demonstratable evident causes. The mechanisms leading to a particular predilection for women of childbearing age who are overweight and obese or who have recent rapid weight changes remain imprecisely described. The Modified Dandy criteria is used for diagnosis and includes-clinical symptoms, papilledema, lumbar puncture (LP) opening pressure, and neuroimaging. If undiagnosed, it can progress to disabling irreversible visual loss. Weight loss is useful in addition to medical therapy in treating the condition. Data in Sub-Saharan Africa is scarce.

Background: Hypertension affects nearly half of the population in the U.S., with the prevalence disproportionately higher in African Americans (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2023). Complications of uncontrolled hypertension, such as cardiovascular disorders and stroke, increase with age, prompting the importance of controlling high blood pressure in older adults. African American older adults are at higher risk of developing uncontrolled hypertension and related complications due to the lack of healthcare access, financial constraints leading to the inability to access healthier food choices, exercise capabilities, weight control, adherence to recommended medications, and knowledge deficit.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the correlation between vascular endothelium-dependent diastolic function (FMD) and the degree of coronary artery disease (CAD), plaque vulnerability, and its predictive value for cardiovascular events.
