OBJECTIVE: To describe the relationship between atrial wall thickness and TI in CTI exhibiting bidirectional block.

METHODS: Data from 492 RFA lesions from 25 patients undergoing PVI and CTI ablations in SR with point-by-point RF lesions (< 45 W) utilizing a Thermocool Smarttouch

Clinical presentation of congenital heart disease is heterogeneous, making identification of the disease-causing genes and their genetic pathways and mechanisms of action challenging. By using in vivo electrocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography and microcomputed tomography imaging to screen 3,894 single-gene-null mouse lines for structural and functional cardiac abnormalities, here we identify 705 lines with cardiac arrhythmia, myocardial hypertrophy and/or ventricular dilation. Among these 705 genes, 486 have not been previously associated with cardiac dysfunction in humans, and some of them represent variants of unknown relevance (VUR). OBJECTIVE: There is mounting evidence regarding the cardiovascular benefits of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) among patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Atrial-esophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare, but life-threatening complication of ablative treatments for atrial fibrillation. Although the incidence of this complication is low, the mortality is very high. There are many surgical approaches to this disease but we offer a novel technique to reduce the number of incisions used and provides central cannulation. It also allows for repair of both the esophagus and atrium and buttresses these repairs, which have both been shown to decrease morbidity and mortality. The technique has been successful in our three patients and can be considered as an approach to surgical management of AEF.

RATIONALE: Dextro-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA) is a severe congenital heart defect which affects approximately 1 in 4,000 live births. While there are several reports of D-TGA patients with rare variants in individual genes, the majority of D-TGA cases remain genetically elusive. Familial recurrence patterns and the observation that most cases with D-TGA are sporadic suggest a polygenic inheritance for the disorder, yet this remains unexplored.

Importance: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are a class of immunotherapies that have significant clinical efficacy in treating many cancer types, but they are also associated with systemic effects, including myocarditis.

Objective: This review describes potential mechanisms underlying ICI-associated myocarditis; data on epidemiology, including possible risk factors; diagnostic criteria for ICI-associated myocarditis; and recommendations for managing ICI-associated myocarditis.

Review: This paper is a narrative literature review that summarizes existing literature to increase awareness of ICI-associated cardiotoxicities, including myocarditis.

Objective To describe patient characteristics and post-operative outcomes, including early and late mortality, defined by death within 30 days and after 30 days post-surgery, respectively, as well as 20-year survival after isolated reoperative tricuspid surgery.

Methods We retrospectively analyzed 169 patients who underwent isolated reoperative tricuspid valve surgery at our institution (between 1997 and 2000) and describe post-surgical outcomes including intraoperative, early and late mortality. All patients included completed 21 years of follow-up.

The prevalence of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is very common in the Middle East; however, myocardial involvement is among the most infrequent manifestations of extrapulmonary TB. We present an asymptomatic young adult who was incidentally found to have a large right atrial tuberculoma, diagnosed by non-invasive cardiac imaging and effectively treated with standard first-line anti-TB treatment, steroids, and anticoagulation. This case is a classical presentation of nodular myocardial involvement of TB, highlighting advantages of advanced imaging, e.g., cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and multidisciplinary treatment.
