Background: Anticoagulation (AC) adherence after acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is vital to prevent mortality and future recurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE). We aimed to analyze factors affecting AC adherence after acute PE. Methods: Consecutive adult patients with CT angiography or V/Q scan confirmed acute PE were included in a single-center retrospective study from April 2016 to May 2020. IMPORTANCE: There are limited data regarding sex-based differences in physical and mental health domains and health care access in adults with premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).

OBJECTIVE: To study the association of sex with physical and mental health domains as well as health care access-related factors among adults with self-reported premature ASCVD.

DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Retrospective cohort analysis of 748 090 adults aged 18 to 55 years in the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System 2016 to 2019 in the US. Data were analyzed from June to July 2021.

Objective: To determine factors associated with repeat revascularization among adults aged 25 years and above within 5 years of first Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) at a tertiary care hospital.
Methods: A matched case-control study was conducted through a hospital records review. A total of 90 cases with repeat revascularization and 180 controls without repeat revascularization were included. Data was analyzed using Multiple Conditional Logistic Regression.

OBJECTIVES: Arginine vasopressin (AVP) is used to treat hypotension. Because AVP increases blood pressure by increasing systemic vascular resistance, it may have an adverse effect on tissue oxygenation following the Norwood procedure.

METHODS: Retrospective analysis of continuously captured hemodynamic data of neonates receiving AVP following the Norwood procedure.

Background: Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) can be used to assist stent deployment in severe coronary artery calcifications (CAC).

Methods: Studies employing IVL for CAC lesions were included. The primary outcomes included clinical and angiographic success. The secondary outcomes, including lumen gain, maximum calcium thickness, and calcium angle at the final angiography site, minimal lumen area site, and minimal stent area site, were analyzed by the random-effects model to calculate the pooled standardized mean difference. Aortic aneurysms and dissections are life-threatening conditions that have a high risk for lethal bleeding and organ malperfusion. Many studies have investigated the molecular basis of these diseases using mouse models. In mice, ex vivo, in situ, and ultrasound imaging are major approaches to evaluate aortic diameters, a common parameter to determine the severity of aortic aneurysms. OBJECTIVES: Dialysis is considered a contraindication to continuous-flow left ventricular assist device (CF-LVAD) implantation. We evaluated clinical outcomes and survival in carefully selected, low-risk patients with renal failure who required dialysis before CF-LVAD implantation.

METHODS: We extracted medical record data of patients who underwent CF-LVAD placement at our centre between 1 January 2006 and 31 August 2017, with 2 clinical scenarios: those who required long-term (>14 days) dialysis and those who required short-term (≤14 days) dialysis immediately before implantation. BACKGROUND: The nuclear receptor Rev-erbα/β, a key component of the circadian clock, emerges as a drug target for heart diseases, but the function of cardiac Rev-erb has not been studied in vivo. The patient is a 73-year-old female with peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus, who underwent mesenteric artery bypass surgery. She suffered from a pneumonia after surgery, causing acute hypoxic respiratory failure and septic shock. Due to shock, she developed acute renal failure. She was intubated, ventilated, and received continuous veno-venous hemodialysis for renal failure. ST elevation was first observed on telemetry and subsequently confirmed on electrocardiogram. The purpose of this project is two-fold. The first is to determine if the CALM APP use by adult men and women with atrial fibrillation (AF) will decrease anxiety. The second is to determine if decreased anxiety utilizing the CALM APP will deter admissions to the emergency department (ED) for AF in the first month post-catheter ablation of AF. BACKGROUND: Several medication choices are available for acute and prophylactic treatment of refractory supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) in infants. There are almost no controlled trials, and medication choices are not necessarily evidence based. Our objective was to report the effectiveness of management strategies for infant SVT.

METHODS: A registry of infants admitted to hospital with re-entrant SVT and no haemodynamically significant heart disease were prospectively followed at 11 international tertiary care centres.
